Shiga Prefectural Lake Biwa Museum Phase 1 Renewal

[Project Summary] Linking displays with scenery, fields, life, and thoughts. 20 years have passed since the museum opened, and the relationship between the lake and humans has been deepened through displays. concept design, which links displays with scenery, fields, life, and thoughts, is based on the changes and progress of 20 years in each habitat, and the relationship with people, and through experiences, dioramas, and live-animal rearing, it truly presents the current state of Lake Biwa. In the "Living Creatures Collection" in displays Room C, a space is created where visitors can feel the beauty and diversity of the creatures living in Lake Biwa and its catchment area at a glance. In the Aquatic Life displays Room, underwater creatures are visualized, which leads to an interest in living creatures. With the addition of the popular Baikal seal and the "Micro Aquarium" which handles microorganisms, this new form of museum attracts many visitors and researchers. [Customer's Challenge] As the museum celebrates its 20th anniversary, displays have been completely renewed and the aging facilities have been updated. The mission of the museum was to make a new start as a comprehensive museum that would fulfill the role that the original Lake Biwa Museum aimed for, and would evolve further to be familiar and utilized by the citizens of the prefecture. In addition, regarding the aquatic displays, the museum was required to displays the Baikal seal, the only animal in the world that lives in fresh water, and to widely communicate its ecology to the citizens of the prefecture. The client's request was to create displays that would be enjoyable and understandable for a wide range of people, from children to adults, with Lake Biwa at the center. [Solution] In displays Room C, visitors of a wide age range are given an explanation of the nature, ecology, folklore, and creatures of Lake Biwa through hands-on experience. In the aquatic displays, the museum also focused on the very small plankton, and introduced the shape and ecology of the plankton in a lab format, creating displays that is unique in the country. <Our project members> [Development, sales, project management] Haruya Miwa [Research and planning] Taihei Samejima [design, layout] Masaaki Mitsunaga, Kaoru Sone, Tadashi Yuasa, Rie Morita, Mina Miyagi [Sign and graphic concept design] Satoko Hasegawa, Nanae Hori [Production and construction] Yoshito Inoue, Hayato Ichimanda, Goro Yamano, Ryuichi Shimada [public relations] Hidetoshi Tsukahara

slice of time

slice of time

[Project Summary] A spatial installation by the Italian luxury watch brand "PANERAI". First, a transparent "shell" watch was concept design that condenses Panerai's characteristics such as the index with a single stroke of the numerals and the square-shaped case, and then it was stretched to a length of 16 meters by extrusion molding. This long and thin "shell watch" is sliced little by little to make a watch by hand, and visitors can take the finished product home. The "age" of the visitor is converted into "mm" and cut out, so watches of various proportions are naturally produced. A circular atelier space is prepared for each work process such as polishing, sandblasting, and assembly, and the way the watch is gradually completed while interlocking and interlocking is performed like the gears of a clock. One watch is produced every five minutes, and the long and thin "shell watch" gets shorter little by little during the displays period, and the installation ends when all the watches are gone. In other words, this "shell watch" is also a device that makes you perceive time like an hourglass. We thought that by converting "time" into "length" like "selling watches by weight," it would be possible to experience time and even to "take home a moment of your own." This property was designed by our company's concept design team "onndo(※)." *What is "onndo"? Operated by nomura and nendo design office It is our creative team that has a business partnership with "nendo," a concept design office headed by the world-renowned designer Sato Oki.

The Food Times

The Food Times

[Project Summary] The Fukuoka Airport Domestic Passenger Terminal Commercial Facility "Green Blue" project is currently underway, aiming for completion in the spring of 2019. As the entire airport is redeveloped under the park concept, we are in charge of the environmental planning for the commercial zone. We aim to create a place where not only travelers but also the people of the city can gather, like a park with an integrated whole. This time, we were in charge of the design and construction of the food hall "The Food Times", which will be the highlight of the initial opening. [Challenge/Theme] ■ concept design concept "Captain's Base" "A private base for captains who fly around the world" With this concept, we took inspiration from maintenance yards and airplanes and developed it into concept design of each zone and detail. By giving it a story-like quality, we deepened the appeal of the space. ■The best trip starts from the best "If the waiting time is fun, the trip will be even more wonderful". Based on this idea, we created seating spaces with different personalities for each zone, and sprinkled in concept design that add a sense of playfulness, so that guests can spend their waiting time according to their own purposes. [Solution] In the north zone near the boarding gate, we placed a high counter zone where you can casually have a drink and board the board immediately. In the southern zone, airplane parts are on displays, creating a museum-like space. It is planned so that visitors can spend time touching airplane equipment that they normally do not get to see. In addition, the central hall seats are equipped with original lighting inspired by the truss structure of a maintenance yard. The random movement creates a fun and lively atmosphere. The space at the back is modeled after a captain's study. Notes detailing the desire to become a pilot are written on a blackboard on the ceiling. Nihonbashi Toyama Museum

Nihonbashi Toyama Museum

[Project summary] "Nihonbashi Toyamakan" is a comprehensive information receiving and transmitting center that can sell products, provide tourist information, and hold exchange events, with a restaurant where you can experience the taste of Toyama as its main focus. Materials and traditional crafts from Toyama Prefecture are used throughout the space, and it is a new base that conveys the beautiful nature, diverse culture, and food charm of Toyama that are the background, rather than simply selling products, and conveys "quality living in Toyama" that makes people want to visit Toyama Prefecture. We assisted with consulting, design, layout, building execution, event management, and PR support. [Challenge/theme] "A place to convey quality living in Toyama" The theme was to not only get things, but also to convey experiences, leading to the revitalization of industry, tourism, etc. [Solution] We put into practice the proposal to "revitalize the facility by introducing a new purpose that will be a centripetal force." Utilizing our CSV solutions for creating public spaces, "Forester Project" (*1) and "Japan Value Project" (*2), we were able to realize a plan and design that would not just be a product center, but one that can be utilized for the various regional revitalization measures that Toyama Prefecture is aiming for, such as tourism, industry, and immigration. For the wood used for the tables and chairs that are actually used, our designers visited sawmills in Toyama Prefecture and selected local materials, including cedar and keyaki, for the building. "Forester Project" (*1) A project to create facility development that creates a strong impression of the regional brand while supporting forestry by producing facility interiors, furniture, and fixtures using domestic materials that are characteristic of the region. "Japan Value Project" (*2) An initiative to collaborate with businesses across the country that handle traditional techniques and materials, and provide a place to promote them by incorporating their specifications into the facility. <Our project members> [Development/Project Management] Fujinaka Ryuichi [Sales Promotion] Sato Noboru, Tanaka Nobuyuki [Planning] Suzuki Megumi, Fujinaka Ryuichi [Creative Direction] Suzuki Megumi [design, layout] Hanaoka Yutaka [Sign/Graphic concept design] Ito Hisae (Cloth) [Production/ construction] Marumori Yukio [Other (Event Planning, PR Support, etc.)] Fujinaka Ryuichi

SKY CIRCUS Sunshine 60 Observatory

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This facility will be closed for renovation in 2022 and reopened on April 18, 2023 as a new facility called Sunshine 60 Observation Deck Tenbo Park" on April 18, 2023. (NOMURA Scope of work: planning, design, leasing, construction, logo creation) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Experience the view and height in various ways The new observatory "SKY CIRCUS Sunshine 60 Observation Deck" (SKY CIRCUS Sunshine 60 Observation Deck), where visitors can enjoy and experience views and heights in various ways, fully reopened on April 21, 2016 (Thursday). This facility has evolved from an observatory for "just looking" to an observatory for "experiencing," based on the concept of "SKY CIRCUS," and offers a variety of state-of-the-art technologies, including VR technology and 4D experiences, interactive animation, and CG animation. The new observatory is a one-of-a-kind observatory where visitors can enjoy the "view" and play with "technology" at the same time. We planned and produced this project in collaboration with Dentsu Inc. The "Infinite Scape" is a giant kaleidoscope-like tunnel of light and mirrors that projects images depicting the changing seasons in Japan, and the "SKY Trampoline" is a vertical leaping trampoline that allows visitors to enjoy the experience of flying through the sky to see the natural landmarks of the four seasons, filmed by drones, Visitors can also enjoy inbound content. Visitors can also enjoy "Kaleidoscope 60," in which 60 kaleidoscopes are installed to create a sparkling "CUMOS Cube Kaleidoscope," and "Asobrella NEXT," an entertainment experience that offers a view, weather conditions, and simulated experiences. Through industry-academia collaboration with Joshibi University of Art and Design, Osaka University, and other educational institutions, we are creating new experiences by transforming technology into entertainment. NOMURA Nomura Development Inc. will operate and manage the SKY CIRCUS SHOP and Cafe Quu Quu Quu, Nomura Techno Inc. will be in charge of the technical system for the production equipment, and interiors Nomura Products Inc. will be in charge of the production, taking advantage of the company's comprehensive capabilities to create a world-class observatory. Nomura Development Inc. was in charge of the technical system for the staging equipment, and Nomura Products Inc. was in charge of the production. <This project was not a typical observatory renewal project to clean up the environment interiors, but a project to create value for a new observatory, and it was a difficult project to create something from nothing. Therefore, as a client, we were looking for new ideas that would entertain, surprise, and delight the guests. We were able to meet these requirements not by simply making one-sided proposals, but by working together enthusiastically to create them through free and vigorous discussions within the project team and, at times, by presenting the client with bitter criticisms. It was a great benefit for us to experience a new renewal method that was different from the competition-style renewal we had been used to. <Our project members> [Sales and project management] Hiroyu Imaizumi, Seiji Yamaguchi, Kenji Higashi [Planning] Kenichi Sakazume, Tetsuro Yasuda, Ai Ichikawa [design, layout] Tamae Takahashi, Yoko Suzuki, Kyoku Okamoto, Masataka Myonaka [Contents planning and concept design] Ryuta Yamada [Signage and graphics concept design] Yasuyuki Chosa [Contents production and construction] Toshiaki Kawabata, Junpei Hino construction Kondo Kobayashi, Keiji Kobayashi, Yuki Kuga, Nomura Techno [interiors] Masao Tomita, Tetsu Hirayama, Yoji Inuma, Nomura Products [Management] Kazuhiko Someya, Hajime Mizuno, Harue Inagaki, Yuki Saito ([maintenance management] Yoshitaka Okubo, Kazumasa Takeuchi, Nomura Techno)
