Muroran City Environmental Science Museum

Muroran City Environmental Science Museum

As a successor to Hokkaido's first science museum, "Muroran City Youth Science Museum (opened in 1963)," this new museum has been opened with a new theme of "environment." The museum aims to create displays that will familiarize a wide range of generations, especially children, with science on a daily basis and give them hope for the future of the earth and the region. The environmental corner introduces environmental innovation projects that utilize Muroran's individuality and strengths cultivated through manufacturing, as well as efforts toward a sustainable future. The main displays, "Watching Moruelani," is a virtual exhibit in which visitors walk on satellite photos of Muroran spread across the floor and use an AR tablet to explore manufacturing, renewable energy sites, and natural spots. Visitors can displays scenery that is usually difficult to see in real life, such as 360-degree images of factories and drone footage of natural landscapes. The science experience corner is made up of devices that allow visitors to experience the basics and principles of science. Some of the equipment from the old building has been remade and reinstalled, inheriting the history of the facility and the memories of the residents. The scattered devices are connected by experiment counters, enhancing the face-to-face communication space, and play elements are also incorporated into displays, such as large play equipment based on Muroran's nature.

The Royal Park Canvas Sapporo Odori Park

The Royal Park Canvas Sapporo Odori Park

In order to provide guests with the hotel's concept of "experiencing Hokkaido," we planned the ultimate locally produced hotel with sustainability in mind while cherishing the culture and ideas that have been cherished in this area. In addition to using wood, stone, and soil from Hokkaido as building materials for the exterior, interiors, and structure, we aimed to use all materials to the fullest, such as making furniture that effectively utilizes building material scraps. In addition, some of the furniture in the hotel lounge is made in Asahikawa, a famous furniture town, using wood from Hokkaido, and the regular market event is held in collaboration with local producers, creating a connection between the hotel and the local area in various ways, both in terms of soft and hard aspects. In addition to using ingredients from Hokkaido (agricultural products, marine products, dairy products, etc.), the restaurant uses ingredients that allow you to see the faces of the producers, and the guest rooms are equipped with wooden speakers and record players associated with the jazz city of Sapporo, and beautiful photos of various parts of Hokkaido by five photographers are displayed as art, weaving in mechanisms that allow guests to deeply experience Hokkaido through their five senses. For those who are visiting Sapporo or those who are starting from there, this hotel offers a one-of-a-kind experience that can only be found in Sapporo, the gateway to Hokkaido.

Kyushu Mitsubishi Motors Sales Co., Ltd. KMG Building

Kyushu Mitsubishi Motors Sales Co., Ltd. KMG Building

This is a reconstruction project for the showroom and office of Kyushu Mitsubishi Motors Sales Co., Ltd. It is an 8-story steel-framed building, and we were in charge of interiors design and construction of the cafe and restaurant on the first floor and the showroom on the second floor. As a new landmark for Yakuin, Fukuoka City, we aimed to create a space that can connect with people and the city (region) with the concept of "obi". The cafe and restaurant are concept design to be an open space that is easy to enter and to be a communication space integrated with the showroom. We also installed large digital signage, a turntable that symbolically displays cars, and a lighted ceiling, and scattered elements to naturally make customers at the cafe interested in cars. The showroom on the second floor adopts an organic design that makes extensive use of curved surfaces that symbolize the "obi", and the ceiling has a concept design pattern that deforms Mitsubishi's three diamonds. The showroom is based on the Mitsubishi brand colors of black, white, and gray, and has a simple and solid feel that is "typical of Mitsubishi Motors". In addition, we set up a kids' corner where children can have fun even if they come as a family, a corner to promote V2H technology, and a dedicated corner for important business negotiations, and designed the space to further update the functions of a conventional showroom space. construction: PS Mitsubishi/Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Transportation Construction Engineering Joint Venture [Social Issues/Customer Issues/Requests] In addition to existing customers, we received a request to create a space that would attract a wide range of new customer groups that had not been fully captured until now, such as young families and young people who are not very interested in cars. [Solution] The cafe restaurant on the first floor facing the main street has openable sash windows that eliminate borders between the terrace seats and the inside of the store, allowing signage images and various events to be promoted all the way to the street, aiming to create a space that can attract a wide variety of customers. The symbolic spiral staircase and atrium leading to the showroom on the second floor, and the uniformity of materials that unite the two floors, naturally invite customers using the cafe restaurant into the showroom, where they can experience Mitsubishi Motors' V2H technology and the latest technology, creating an iconic environment where people can experience the potential of automobiles to bring sustainable prosperity and happiness. The showroom was planned with the customer's perspective in mind throughout, with a kids' corner located in the center so that children can be kept an eye on while business negotiations are taking place. In addition, consideration has been given to reducing the environmental impact by incorporating V2H linked to the solar power generation system installed on the building's rooftop, motion sensors, and lighting control with an automatic dimming system. <Our project members> [Sales/Project Management] Goto Naoki [Architecture/ concept design] Takao Kazuyoshi, Sawada Riho [Production/ construction] Nakano Keiji

Kumamoto Castle Tower

Kumamoto Castle Tower

~ As a symbol of reconstruction, conveying the thoughts of people who have restored the castle after each disaster and its history ~ The Kumamoto Earthquake in April 2016 also caused damage to the castle tower. In response to people's longing for the castle tower to return to its original form, the city of Kumamoto adopted a policy of early restoration of the tower, and the building was completed in March 2021 with the latest earthquake-resistant technology. This is a message from the people of Kumamoto living in the present for the future 100 or 400 years from now, carrying on the wishes of the people who have restored the castle after repeated disasters over the 400 years since its construction. displays organized the theme chronologically from the basement to the top floor, and created a spatial concept design that corresponded to the theme. At the same time, models, images, and wall concept design made the space easy to understand and impressive. Focusing not on the castle as a whole but on the castle tower, it conveys the history of the castle's construction, its architectural design, its defensive functions, the castle and its town planning, and the thoughts and history of the people who restored it after each disaster. [Social Issues/Customer Issues/Requests] ・ To communicate the historical, architectural, and spiritual significance of the castle tower, which is the symbol of recovery from the Kumamoto Earthquake. We also want to convey that Kumamoto Castle, which has historically suffered numerous natural disasters, has been revived by the recent earthquake. ・ Focusing not on the whole Kumamoto Castle, but on the "Kumamoto Castle donjon," displays content of the surrounding facilities and the division of roles, cooperation and complementation should be attempted. Since the preservation environment in the castle tower is limited, displays of the actual castle tower should not be done in principle, and historical displays of the castle tower after the Seinan War should be added, which was not done in the past. ・ From the perspective of Universal concept design, displays should be enjoyed by a wide range of people by introducing a touch displays and multilingual audio guides. We received the above request. Solution: The main character of the castle tower is the castle tower, which is organized into a chronological story from its construction to the present, and each floor has a theme for each era. We arranged the story so that we can follow the era from the lower floor to the upper floor, including the era of Kato Kiyomasa who built the castle on the first floor, the era of Hosokawa who later became the lord of the domain, the modern era that experienced a complete fire and reconstruction, and the modern era that strives to restore the Kumamoto Earthquake. Not only the castle tower, but also the strong will of the people who have repaired the castle tower every time a disaster occurred since the Edo period "I want to restore Kumamoto Castle and pass it on to future generations". To cater to a wide range of visitors, he also planned and implemented multilingual audio guides and tactile models of the castle tower that can be felt and understood. [Customer Feedback] displays was organized in a way that is easy to understand and easily captivate anyone, with explanations using models and projection mapping, and multilingual audio guides using a title-sign application. < Company Project Members > [Development] Masashiro Yokoyama [Sales/Project Management] Masashiro Yokoyama, Haruka Amano, Anjin Sawada [design, layout] Mitsuyo Ashida, Yuichiro Tsutsumi, Toshie Makigara, Nanako Wajun, Yoichi Honda, Naoya Fujiwara [Design] Nobuyuki Endo [Production/construction] Yu Ikeya, Yoshikazu Kimura
