TheMana Village

TheMana Village

This project is being carried out by ARTH Group Co., Ltd. (Tosashimizu Resort LLC), a company involved in accommodation businesses and regional revitalization nationwide. The project aims to revitalize the entire city of Tosashimizu by revitalizing the long-established inn "Ashizuri Pacific Hotel Hanatsubaki," which has been loved for many years on Cape Ashizuri in Kochi Prefecture, as one of Asia's leading resort facilities for stays, "The Mana Village." The facility is located in the naturally rich area of Ashizuri-Uwakai National Park. Although it has a spectacular view, the hotel's old interiors remains as it was, as if time had stopped since the Showa era. Initially, the plan was to set up a small cafe area, but as the meetings continued, ARTH's vision of wanting to liven up not only the hotel but also the entire city of Kochi and Tosashimizu expanded. The project has been transformed into a complex that includes an Italian restaurant, providing a luxurious space where you can experience the nature of Ashizuri. We have been involved from the concept stage of planning and concept design the facility to improve its appeal, and have been in charge of producing the space for the facade, lobby common areas, guest rooms, and restaurant, which will be the face of the hotel. (design supervision for guest rooms and Italian restaurant) As ARTH's creative partner, we are involved in producing spaces that lead to the creation and revitalization of attractive urban areas, including ``LOQUAT Nishiizu'' (renovating an old Japanese house into an auberge), which we took on in 2021.

Nagoya Anpanman Children's Museum & Park Yanase Takashi Theater / Large Trees and Play Forest

Nagoya Anpanman Children's Museum & Park Yanase Takashi Theater / Large Trees and Play Forest

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Nagoya Anpanman Children's Museum & Park, which opened in 2010, we will be in charge of the expansion of the "Takashi Yanase Theater" and the renovation of the "Big Tree and Forest of Play" as a power-up measure that will be responsible for the next 10 years. Thank you. Among the Anpanman Children's Museums in Japan, this facility is particularly focused on character shows and greetings, and will be a project of a dedicated theater where full-scale shows can be held and a plaza where parents and children can participate in play and events. Based on the concept of "Takashi Yanase Theater" and "Anpanman and his friends came when we were playing in the children's room," we created a warm wooden space and used building blocks, which are familiar toys for young children, as a motif. The building blocks, both inside and outside of the building, are integrated with the building framework so that the overall effect is large. In addition, by constructing the interior of the building with the vehicles, mechanics, and bread factory that appear in the anime, we have created a production that creates conversations between parents and children even during intermissions. Based on the concept of “a forest of big trees and play” and “the open space where Anpanman and his friends used to play until a little while ago”, a symbolic tree is arranged in the center, and it is a free space where parents and children can play around it and staff can hold events. increase. The ceiling surface is illuminated with blue skies, rainbows, and sunsets so that you can enjoy a day in the forest. Fixed playground equipment such as tunnels, slides, and peepholes are arranged to surround them, creating a space where parents and children can discover play in the forest.

Mitaka Memoried Hall

Mitaka Memoried Hall

"A funeral hall that is close to the community" This is a funeral hall in Mitaka, Tokyo, by Memoryd Co., Ltd., which provides life support services including ceremonial occasions. We were in charge of everything from architecture to interiors design, layout construction. It is a facility for holding a full funeral ceremony, consisting of two halls, a purification hall, a mortuary room, a bathing room, a waiting room, and a space for the funeral procession and parking, all of which are used together. In response to the green and pleasant living environment in the surrounding area, the building was designed with the concepts of "a funeral hall that resonates with the town," "a mansion-like appearance with textured finishes," and "a welcoming space that continues from the outside to the inside," and while providing green space on a low floor, the building is designed to welcome the local community, nature, and light through the pilotis and openings, creating a spatial composition that blends in with the surrounding environment. In addition, the pilotis is connected to the first floor entrance, and the stairs are connected to the second floor foyer, drawing in light from the second floor to the first floor, creating a space that makes the exterior space seem continuous with the interior. interiors and FF&E were concept design with the concept of "an organic space that envelops precious time with the deceased" and with a calm and gentle impression that gently envelops the time that has been woven and accumulated. At the same time, we aimed to create a funeral hall that is close to the community, both in terms of hardware and software, while complying with Mitaka City regulations and neighborhood explanations. [Social issues / Customer issues / Requests] Since it will be a funeral hall in a residential area, we were asked to consistently consider the neighborhood in both hardware and software. In addition, wakes and funerals are rarely held over two days these days, and one-day funerals and family funerals are the norm. In addition, the number of attendees is limited due to the effects of COVID-19, so we were asked to concept design a space that can accommodate a short period of time and a small number of people. [Solution] In consideration of the neighborhood, we reduced the feeling of oppression by creating a low-rise building with a setback from the road* and green space, and by creating an appearance like a mansion with a textured finish, we minimized the image of a funeral hall as much as possible, while creating concept design blends in with the surrounding residential environment. The pilotis on the first floor is a space that is softly partitioned while blocking the view with wire greenery and louvers, and is not hidden by walls, but is open to the surrounding environment. The facility's activities can be felt and it is a space that can be easily entered during events, so it was planned as a facility that is recognized and understood by local residents. At the same time, we aimed to create a "funeral hall that is close to the community" in terms of both hardware and software, while complying with Mitaka City regulations and neighborhood explanations. As a space concept design for short periods of time and small numbers of people, we focused on functionality and avoided a space that lacks warmth by using organic finishes for interiors and FF&E to create a calm and gentle space. *: Setback means that a building is built with a certain distance from the boundary line of the land. <Our project members> [Sales and project management] Hironari Sakimoto [design, layout] NAU: Yoichi Kawakami, Norio Koito, Wataru Sugimoto, Akane Watanabe / Kei Matsuzawa [Sign] Tomomi Ito [Production and construction] Keita Ide, Ryota Sakurai

Marunouchi Street Park 2021 Winter

Marunouchi Street Park 2021 Winter

Marunouchi Street Park, which began in 2019, is a social experiment project to examine the future state and utilization of Marunouchi Nakadori. In winter, the spatial concept was "Amazing Winter Street," and scenes were created in three blocks spanning approximately 300 meters, where visitors could feel the warmth with all five senses while enjoying the illuminations. Block 1 was themed "Wonder Dining!" and featured a playful area with a glass house where visitors could dine while enjoying the illuminations, tree hammocks, and big chess. Block 2 was themed "Wonder Lounge!" and featured a two-story hut that served as a general information center and shop, a postbox with a simulated flame for posting purchased Christmas cards, a billiards table that could be enjoyed under the illuminations, and a fire pit where visitors could relax and enjoy the street piano. Block 3 is themed "Wonder Terrace!" and features a "Corridor of Light" covered with mirrors and an "Artists in Fire Terrace" where artists can work around a fake fire in the fireplace. (Date: 2021/12/2-12/25) "Illumination Tour for the Visually Impaired 2021 Winter" hosted by our company This tour is based on the theme of "dialogue" and is a walking tour that allows "everyone" to truly experience a "comfortable space". Volunteer staff will escort the visually impaired to the three blocks (total length approximately 300m) of Nakadori in winter, which is beautifully illuminated. We aimed to create a program that allows people with visual impairments to enjoy themselves through conversations that warm the body and mind. During the "Marunouchi Street Park 2021 Summer" (August-September) event, visually impaired people were seen using the park, so we conducted interviews with people who are visually impaired from birth. The results were: "The places I want to go are places I've been to once and enjoyed," "I'm nervous about taking the first step when going to a new place," "I didn't know Marunouchi was a park," and "Because I can't see, I enjoy things by using my imagination." Therefore, if we can kindly and carefully convey the charm of Marunouchi by "informing people in a way that is easy to understand" and "guiding people with peace of mind with support," they will want to "go back again" and will love Marunouchi Nakadori even more. And we decided to hold this tour with the hope that it will be an opportunity for "everyone" to "feel, connect, and spend the seasons." <Our project members> [Project Director] Suzuki Echiyo [Sales] Ishiyama Shigeyuki, Yamamoto Hitomi [Planning] CIC: Saito Yusuke [Operations management] CIC: Ando Kaoru [concept design] Sakuma Tonoyoshi, Ozawa Kazuki, Matsubara Miwa [Architectural advisor] NAU: Okamoto Kiwami [Production] Marumori Yukio, Sasaki Ikuya, Yamaguchi Yuta, Kawashima Ayaka ~Related links~ [Announcement] ・"Marunouchi Street Park Illumination Tour!" sponsored by NOMURA [Related achievements] ・Marunouchi Street Park 2021 Summer

Kawarayu Onsen Playground NOA / Kawarayu Onsen Station Campsite

Kawarayu Onsen Playground NOA / Kawarayu Onsen Station Campsite

This project is one of the projects to help the residents of the areas that will be submerged due to the construction of the Yamba Dam to rebuild their lives and find meaning in life. For about six years, we were in charge of the basic plan, schematic design, working drawings, supervision, and consulting work to support the local management company for the "regional development facilities" in the "Kawarayu District" and "Yokobe District" of the relevant areas. The Kawarayu District is a tourist destination with Kawarayu Onsen, which has been around for over 800 years, and is adjacent to JR Kawarayu Onsen Station. From the perspective of location characteristics, scenery, and business scale, we proposed a "Station Front x Campsite & BBQ x Hot Spring Facility" business. While listening to the opinions of the local residents, Naganohara Town, and Gunma Prefecture, we comprehensively planned and produced the project, from the launch and support of the local management body, to attracting a campsite management partner company, consulting on the business plan, design, layout. The facility is divided by the JR Agatsuma Line, and consists of the "Kawarayu Onsen Play Base NOA" with a cafe and hot spring on the upper level, and the "Kawarayu Onsen Station Campground" with a plaza where you can enjoy BBQ and bonfires, a wood-burning bath, a tent sauna, and canoeing and kayaking on the dam lake on the lower level. [Social Issues / Customer Issues / Requests] [Business] It was necessary to understand what it means for the local residents to rebuild their lives and create a purpose in life. Through repeated discussions with the residents, issues were identified that aim to revitalize the area, such as coexistence with the hot spring town, promotion of employment for local people, especially young people, and encouraging the outflow of the population to return to their hometowns. In addition, they requested that the facility be differentiated from facilities planned in other areas and similar facilities, and have the ability to attract customers and be unique. [concept design] They requested that concept design be unique to the area, taking into consideration the bridge that tourists passing by to visit the dam and visibility from the opposite bank, which is a busy area, and that the facility be easy to operate by harmonizing the complex multi-purpose facilities (hot springs, restaurants, rest areas, observation decks, tenants, conference rooms, etc.). [Solution] [Business aspect] The Yamba Dam project took 70 years from planning to completion, but there were arguments for and against the construction of the dam, and many residents moved out. From the perspective of launching the project, we focused on proposing a business plan with multiple perspectives and a bird's-eye view. We listened to the various business ideas desired by the local residents, made recommendations on how to make them feasible, made adjustments to avoid competition with businesses in the surrounding area, and differentiated each facility, aiming for a project that emphasized the uniqueness of each area. [concept design aspect] The concept was the "Azuma River," which is the origin of the name of the former Kawarayu area. As we proceeded with concept design, we received feedback from local residents that it looked like a "boat that rises with the region on board," so we created a distinctive building that symbolizes the two concepts. For the interior space, we planned a gently curving flow line and slope that combines various functions to match the long and narrow shape from east to west, making it an easy-to-use space with mobility. <Our project members> [Sales/Project Management] Satoshi Arai, Hitomi Yamamoto [Planning/Consulting] Kenichi Sakazume, Yuki Shimokuni [design, layout] NAU: Sakae Kirioka, Nana Osano

Yamba Lake Station Maruiwa

Yamba Lake Station Maruiwa

This project is one of the projects to help the residents of the areas that will be submerged due to the construction of the Yamba Dam to rebuild their lives and find meaning in life. For about six years, we were in charge of the basic plan, schematic design, detailed design, interior administration working drawings and consulting work to support local management companies for the "regional development facilities" in the "Kawarayu District" and "Yokobe District" of the relevant areas. For the Yokobe Regional Development Facility, we not only planned the construction, but also supported the launch of the management body established in the district, invited companies to enter the market, consulted on restaurants run by residents, developed menus, and supervised the operation of opening equipment, etc. The facility concept design was based on the concept of "inheriting and developing the town's memories," and reproduced the former Naganohara Town Hall*, which had fulfilled its role after about 90 years of construction and was scheduled for demolition, as a symbol of the district. We designed it to create an opportunity for the children who will be the future leaders of the district and the tourists who visit the district to see the town's history, so that the new businesses run here will lead to the regeneration, reconstruction, and development of the district. *The old government building, built in 1929 (Showa 4), was a two-story wooden building with a hipped roof and a Japanese-Western style exterior with a porch and a gabled roof on top. It was also said to be the only wooden government building in Gunma Prefecture. [Social Issues/Customer Issues/Requests] [Business] With the construction of the Yamba Dam, it was requested to establish a new business that had never been done before in this area, as a facility for the residents of the area to be submerged and rebuild their lives and find meaning in life. In addition, it was requested that the facility be differentiated from facilities planned in other areas and similar facilities, and that it have the ability to attract customers and be unique. [concept design] It was requested that the old government building, which is filled with people's memories, be utilized in some way, that it be visible from the busy national highway from the perspective of attracting customers, and that it be planned to attract passersby. It was also requested that the plan take advantage of the view that allows the Yamba Dam to be seen in the distance and the lake to be seen in the distance. [Solution] [Business] In order to realize the request, we focused on the following three points: first, to make suggestions to make the business ideas of the local residents possible; second, to differentiate the local regional development facilities between "Yokobe District" and "Kawarayu District"; and third, to strongly support the launch of a local parent company. In this project, we aimed to "open a restaurant," which none of the local people had experience in, and promoted it in a way that was close to the characteristics of the region and the characteristics of the business. In particular, we had many conversations about "looking for the Yokobe District's uniqueness" and "utilizing local recipes," and developed menus together, and promoted a plan that was closely tied to the region. For the prototype and tasting session, we invited professional chefs to support the local people in raising their awareness, revitalizing the region by improving their cooking skills, and strengthening their self-sufficiency. [concept design] When converting the function of the town hall to Lake Station, we surveyed the existing building and decided to recreate it in a modern update while taking into consideration the nostalgia of the former town hall building. The retro and distinctive design of the old government building has been reproduced to create a visual appeal. In addition, by creating an open opening facing the Yamba Dam, the location has one of the best views of any facility around the dam lake. Furthermore, in order to maintain the style of the old government building while conforming to current regulations, careful consideration was given to the structural design. <Our project members> [Sales/Project Management] Arai Satoshi, Yamamoto Hitomi [Planning/Consulting] Sakazume Kenichi, Shimokuni Yuki [design, layout] NAU: Kirioka Sakae, Osano Nana

Green Stamp Karuizawa Dormitory Shoukan

Green Stamp Karuizawa Dormitory Shoukan

Shoyukan was built in 1892 in Nishikatamachi, Hongo-ku, Tokyo, as part of the residence of Count Abe, the former feudal lord of the former Fukuyama domain. In 1971, Tokio Kasuga, founder of Green Stamp Co., Ltd., relocated and restored it to Karuizawa, where it has been used as a memorial hall for the Green Stamp Karuizawa dormitory. In 2020, Shoyukan was renovated at the same time as the new annex as a retreat facility for both Green Stamp Co., Ltd. and Kenedix Inc. We were responsible for the design and interior administration of the Shoyukan renovation, including seismic retrofitting, as well as the installation of FFE throughout the facility. [Social Issues/Customer Issues/Requests] Various extensions and renovations have been made since the original relocation, and the only connection to the separate building was via a corridor, and the structure was under strain and had begun to sink. The entire facility was aging, and the Shoyukan was difficult to use in winter due to Karuizawa's climate, and although it was originally designed with tatami mats, its use had decreased due to changes in Japanese lifestyles. However, they wanted to renovate it while preserving as much of its original appearance as possible. [Solution] After investigating the Shoyukan, they restored it to its original simple form as much as possible, performed a seismic diagnosis, and reinforced the structure to withstand earthquake forces equivalent to those stipulated in the Building Standards Act. The building faces the annex across the courtyard, giving it a sense of unity as a whole facility. While respecting the original design as much as possible, they aimed to extend the period of use, including in winter, except for the coldest months, by installing insulation and air conditioning equipment in the parts that cannot be seen. They installed floor heating and replaced it with flooring, and the walls added for seismic resistance expressed the original walls, fixtures, and image of the time, while the upper half of the space retained as much of the original design as possible. <Our project members> [Sales] Kayumi Tatsumi [Survey design, layout and interior administration] NAU1: Norio Koito [Production and construction] Mikina Fujitaka
