The Food Times

[Project Overview]
The "greenblue" commercial facility at Fukuoka Airport's domestic passenger terminal is a project currently underway, with completion scheduled for spring 2019.
As the entire airport is being redeveloped under the park concept, we are in charge of the environmental planning for the commercial zone. Our goal is to create a unified park-like space where not only tourists but also local residents can gather.
This time, we were in charge of the design and construction of the food hall, The Foodtimes, which will be the highlight of the initial opening.

[Challenge/Theme]
■ concept design Concept "Captain's Base" "A private base for a captain who flies all over the world." Based on this concept, we drew a lot of inspiration from maintenance sheds and airplanes, and incorporated it into concept design of each zone and detail. By giving it a story, we deepened the appeal of the space.
■The best trip starts with the best beginning. "If waiting time is enjoyable, the trip will be even more wonderful." Based on this idea, we have created unique seating spaces in each zone and incorporated playful concept design to provide guests with ways to spend their waiting time according to their individual needs.

[Solution]
The northern zone, close to the boarding gates, features a high-counter area where passengers can easily grab a drink and board immediately. The southern zone displays aircraft parts, creating a museum-like space. The design allows guests to spend time interacting with aircraft equipment they wouldn't normally see. The central hall seating area features original lighting inspired by the truss structure of a maintenance bay. The random movement of the lights creates a lively and fun atmosphere. The space at the back is designed to resemble a captain's study, with notes expressing the aspirations of becoming a pilot, drawn on a blackboard on the ceiling.
