LOQUAT Villa SUGURO

LOQUAT Villa SUGURO

This is a renovation project for an old folk house in the Kodoi district of Izu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, into a rental accommodation facility. This area was once a quiet area where the magistrates lived, and the plan was to provide a stay that incorporates the surrounding environment, so that guests can experience the slow flow of time. The main house will have a kitchen where guests can enjoy dinner prepared by a visiting chef and alcohol at a movable bar. For interiors, we used local materials, and attempted to create a space using local materials, just like in the Edo period, such as clay walls made from local soil and dining tables made from locally grown cherry wood. [Social Issues / Customer Issues / Requests] In order to make the most of the rental old folk house, we were asked to read the characteristics of the site and create an attractive space concept design. [Solution] While taking advantage of the appeal of the existing building, we incorporated a spatial composition that maximizes the surrounding views and finishes that utilize local soil. <Our project members> [Sales/Project Management] Hiratsuka Shinya, Yagi Nobuyuki [Overall Supervision] Koito Norio [Planning] Ninomiya Saki [design, layout] Inoue Hirofumi ~Related Links~ [Release] ・ NOMURA, Ltd.'s social good activities: LOQUAT Villa SUGURO case study - Creating an auberge space that is colored by the charm of the region ・Project for which NOMURA was involved in spatial concept design wins silver award and numerous other awards at the Japan Space concept design Awards 2022 [Related achievements] ・LOQUAT Nishiizu

Nazuna Kyoto Tsubaki-dori

Nazuna Kyoto Tsubaki-dori

It is a project to regenerate a whole alley lined with townhouses over 110 years old into a ryokan near Kyoto Shijo Omiya. Passing through the reception building, along a cobblestone alley are 23 guest rooms, warehouses, and restaurant buildings, providing a gorgeous view reminiscent of the Edo period geisha district. The five types of guest rooms are themed around the natural beauty of Kyoto, and you can experience the local charm in both tangible and intangible culture. The restaurant building in the center of the alley has a Japanese beef restaurant, which is a one-of-a-kind space where Japanese culture, including food, is spread to the world. The site is approximately 1400m2, including 26 wooden buildings, making it the largest regeneration project in the history of Kyoto City. [Social Issues/Customer Issues/Requests] As the hotel development is about to demolish 24 townhouses that were left around the alley and are over 100 years old, the project has started to find new value while making use of the miraculous materials. The new development required various coordination with the local residents. [Solution] While several residents were living in the area, we participated in an existing survey and worked together with the client to discuss how to utilize the original materials. We coordinated the rights of the premises, etc., and designed two new buildings (reception building and restaurant building) while building an alley in concept design. We contracted with construction and design supervision to construct the existing guest room building in a cost-on manner and built the entire building. < Project Members > [Project Management] Nobuyuki Yagi [Sales and Project Management] Moriya Sakata [Overall design supervision] Takaaki Tani [Architecture design supervision] Norio Koito [design administration (Reception Building/Restaurant Building)] Norio Koito [Interior design, layout] Takaaki Tani, Kyoko Kosugi [VI concept design] IVD: Ayaka Hagiya, Mayu Toyoda [FFE concept design] Saki Ninomiya, Nanako Wajun [Production construction] Akio Hirayama, Takahiro Nakayama, Toshimi Katsuragi

Nazuna Obi Castle town hot spring

Nazuna Obi Castle town hot spring

In this project, a samurai residence that was built more than 140 years ago in the castle town of Obi Castle in Nichinan City, Miyazaki Prefecture, was renovated into a tourist center and hot spring inn in the town. Each of the five guest rooms is concept design themed according to the characteristics of the area, and is composed of the town's color “hon-purple ”, the“ cedar ” that supports industry, the cultural “tea tree ” planted in hedges, the“ orange ” that is the city's citrus variety, and the “moss ” that is important to the town's landscape. This project was funded by a subsidy from the Shopping District Revitalization and Tourism Consumption Creation Project, and we participated in a wide range of projects from hardware to software, including the creation of cards and maps that encourage local shops and area tours as tourist bases, the development of cooking experiences, and the establishment of new lanterns as street lights starting from Honjuku. We are achieving regeneration as a core part of future town development. [Social Issues/Customer Issues/Requests] To contribute to the revitalization of tourism in the city by utilizing existing buildings, such as the main house, which is 140 years old and acquired by the city from an individual. This project is being promoted together with the shopping associations as the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's "Shopping District Revitalization and Tourism Consumption Creation Project." How can we create something good while there are restrictions within the traditional building preservation district and restrictions on changes made to buildings by the city's Cultural Properties Division? We were also asked to consider how we could improve the experience of our stay. [Solution] I participated from the investigation of the existing building, worked out a way to change the use of the building from the condition that it was a violation building with the construction official, coordinated with the city to bear the construction cost, etc. Then I was in charge of Architectural interiors Design construction from concept design. After receiving an application for confirmation of a change in use, the project met the criteria for a subsidy from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and the project was completed through coordination with the city's Cultural Properties Division. As a regional revitalization project through the utilization of traditional buildings, we used a large amount of Obi cedar grown locally and contributed to the circulation of the local economy. < Company Project Members > [Project Management] Nobuyuki Yagi [Sales & Project Management] Moriya Sakata [Overall design supervision] Takaaki Tani [Architecture design, layout] Norio Koito [Interior design, layout] Takaaki Tani, Nanako Wajun [FFE concept design] Saki Ninomiya [Production construction] Kazuya Fujii

Central Square Yebisu Garden Place

Central Square Yebisu Garden Place

Mitsukoshi Ebisu, which had been operating in the commercial building of Ebisu Garden Place, has closed its doors and been reborn under the new name "Center Plaza". Ahead of the grand opening in the fall of 2022, "Foodie's Garden" has been set up on the B2 floor, and the flagship store "Central Square Ebisu Garden Place Store" has opened in one corner of it. We supported the opening of "Foodie's Garden" from leasing to store concept design, interiors construction, and the production of product display fixtures. [Social Issues / Customer Issues / Requests] Life Corporation Co., Ltd. requested that they create a more attractive store than ever before, incorporating the essence unique to Ebisu, where the store is located, while following the Central Square brand, in preparation for the opening of their flagship store, Central Square. [Solution] We incorporated a "brick wall" inspired by Ebisu's historical motifs, beer factories and train stations, into the concept design of the store facade, and made use of materials reminiscent of Ebisu's history to create a dignified facade concept design befitting a flagship store. concept design of the store makes use of the graphics and sign concept design format used at Central Square, following the image of Central Square and creating a store unique to Ebisu that blends in with Central Square's VI (※). Fukushima City Creative Business Salon

Fukushima City Creative Business Salon

The Fukushima City Creative Business Salon Development Project was a project that was commissioned to our Tokyo Head Office and the design was taken over by our Tohoku Branch, with a competition held in July 2021 as an open proposal. The project aims to renovate the Fukushima City Industrial Exchange Plaza permanent displays room on the second floor of the Fukushima Station West Exit Complex, Corasse Fukushima, located near JR Fukushima Station, and to develop a co-working space and shared offices as a new business exchange hub, and to renovate it into a facility that can be used comfortably by businessmen, freelancers, university students, etc. The floor area is approximately 755 square meters. Photography is particularly popular in Fukushima, and a gallery has been set up on the wall of the co-working space displays the rich local nature and seasonal scenery and seasonal almanac taken by citizen photographers, as well as culture and art that demonstrate the rich sensibilities of Fukushima people. concept design concept of this salon is the "Shikisai Gallery," which combines the seasonal almanac of Fukushima with the rich color sense of Fukushima people, and we have created a gallery that can be viewed in a more relaxed manner, as a gallery created together with Fukushima citizens. [Social Issues / Customer Issues / Requests] While a spacious layout was required in the post-COVID era, the zoning method and number of seats were also required to take profits into consideration. The floors, walls, and ceilings of the shared office, business exchange space, coworking space, and meeting room were required to have a taste for each environment, and the layout and furniture selection was required to suit the convenience of each user, such as businessmen, freelancers, and university students, as a facility that can be used comfortably by a variety of users such as businessmen, freelancers, and university students. [Solution] As a creative place to create new businesses, the large facility area was utilized to develop the entire space into two zones with two different images. The business exchange space was designed as a zone with an active, bright, natural, and comfortable cafe image, with the walls and floors of the corporate PR displays based on white, creating an environment where you can feel the warmth of wood, and was composed of easily movable furniture for various purposes such as seminars and networking events. The coworking space was designed as a calm lounge zone based on gray, with a sharp environment with dark brown and dark wood on the niche walls, and the furniture was configured to suit the various conveniences of each individual, such as sofas and big tables for relaxing and counter seats where you can concentrate alone. In addition, we aimed to enhance the functions of the corporate PR displays space as a way to build connections with the local area and form a community, and added the "Shikisai Gallery" displays, which we will be creating together with Fukushima citizens, with the aim of creating new connections between the people who use the facility and the city. <Our project members> [Development] Akihiko Nishimura [Sales and project management] Keisuke Yoshida [design, layout] Takayuki Kobayashi, Kenichi Suzuki, Makio Miura [Design management] Kazunobu Nakamura [Production and construction] Johei Saito

Sharp Yao Office "Yao Daiichi Shokudo Isshoku"

Sharp Yao Office "Yao Daiichi Shokudo Isshoku"

We were in charge of planning, design, layout and construction of the employee cafeteria "Yao Daiichi Shokudo Isshoku" that opened at the Yao Works of Sharp Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "Sharp") on November 1, 2021. In proposing the plan, we were conscious of not just creating a stylish space, but of "proposals that only Nomura can make," and proposed a cafeteria as a place for inner branding where customers and affiliated companies who visit the company can discover the "SHARP-ness" beyond organizational boundaries and generations, as well as an outer branding place that can be experienced by business partners and affiliated companies who visit the company. We created three zones, lunch, work and salon, and designed it to be not only an employee cafeteria, but also a place to relax, hold meetings with internal and external guests, and a place where people can connect and communicate. The single red line (Sharp red) that runs through the cafeteria represents Sharp's history and future. For this project, we came up with concept design that would retain the characteristics of the Yao Works, which has a history of about 65 years as a production base for white goods, while also ensuring hygiene. In addition, the mezzanine floor, which was previously used for the production line, was used as an displays space for past products that symbolize SHARP, reducing waste and removal costs, an initiative that takes the SDGs into consideration. [Social Issues/Customer Issues/Requests] As communication between divisions was weak, the customer requested that the space be made more active in encouraging internal connections. [Solution] We proposed that the space be used not just as a place to eat, but as a place to work and relax, and also proposed displays past products as a place to encourage communication between employees and experience and discover Sharp's history. <Our project members> [Sales/Project Management] Takahashi Yui [design, layout] Umedani Shota, Yamato Suzuha, Nakamura Yusuke, Miura Ayaka [Production Management] Mukaiyama Yoshitsugu ~Related Links~ [Announcements] ・ NOMURA, Ltd.'s social good activities: Case study of "Yao Daiichi Shokudo Isshoku" at Sharp's Yao facility

Panasonic Creative Museum AkeruE

Panasonic Creative Museum AkeruE

This creative museum opened in 2006 as a successor to RiSuPia, which opened in the Panasonic Center Tokyo. It is a place where inquiry learning on themes such as SDGs is practiced based on STEAM education. As a place to cultivate children's intellectual curiosity and inspiration, it provides an environment where they can experience both learning and making things and events. The space was designed based on five themes to freely release curiosity and motivation for creativity: "Feeling that it's okay to get dirty," "Feeling that you can make it yourself," "Feeling that you can rearrange it," "Feeling that you're not concept design to a framework," and "Feeling that you're in a session together." Furthermore, from the perspective of SDGs, the existing environment was effectively reused and updated while incorporating it as a concept design motif. The project team's desire to build on the history of the predecessor museum and to add new history to it is also expressed in the spatial concept design. <Our project members> [Sales/Project Management] Yamazaki Kei [Direction] Yamaguchi Akane [design, layout] Koga Sayaka, Tani Seiho, Sasai Ayumu, Nakade Mikiyuki [Production/ construction] Kumazawa Yuta, Asakura Yumi ~Related links~ [Release] ・ NOMURA, Ltd.'s social good activities: The case of AkeruE Creating a space that fosters children's intellectual curiosity and inspiration for a better recycling society in the future [nomlog] ・Until AkeruE was created. Opus Arisugawa

Opus Arisugawa

This project is the culmination project of "A brand that has an exclusive area of more than 100m2 in the center of Tokyo and is focused on location and asset value, providing essential living through renovation."= "R 100 TOKYO" developed by Rivita. When OEO Studio, a Danish company in concept design, renovated "Opus Arisugawa," a representative residence in Tokyo with an exclusive area of about 198m2, with concept design, we helped from construction. Based on the concepts of "CROSS-CULTURAL" and "COMPELLING MINIMALISM," this concept design living space incorporates new proposals based on the sensibilities common to Scandinavia and Japan. The units are made of solid wood and other natural materials that develop their taste the more they are used. The longer you live, the more blessings you bring to your life. This is a realization of R100 TOKYO's goal of "a valuable home 100 years into the future.". [Social Issues/Customer Issues/Requests] In the recent urban luxury residence market, there is a growing demand for homes with unique values that are not limited to traditional values such as real estate prices and housing functions. Among Rivita's projects that aim to "We will continue to create the next level of common sense in order to restore the value of Japanese housing and real estate and leave it to the future." this project, which emphasizes natural materials and traditional construction methods, was the issue of whether it could be realized as housing performance. [Solution] A wide variety of stone materials, plastering materials, solid wood, planks, ceramic tiles, etc., etc., were discussed and promoted so that natural materials and crafts could be utilized in the living space while considering the housing performance. The solid wood kitchen of the Danish kitchen studio Garde Hvalsøe (read: Garde Vels), the first in Japan to be installed in an ordinary house, has a significant raison d'etre in the living space. As there is no solid wood kitchen that can be replaced, the Global Operations Division imported it from Denmark. [Customer Feedback] Thanks to the high level of technology and management, such as the proposal of a solution to the difficult construction, the accuracy of the details, and the observance of the construction schedule, we were able to not only complete the entire schedule but also create a wonderful space that reflected the designer's intention. < Project Members > [Project Management] Masahiro Harada [Product Direction] Mikiya Fujitaka [Global Supply] Hiroyuki Nakagomi

S-PAL Koriyama

S-PAL Koriyama

This project reopened the south side zone on the first floor of the main building of S-PAL Koriyama, adjacent to JR Koriyama Station. Numerous shops have been opened to increase the mobility of daily use, meet the diverse needs of customers, and coordinate lifestyles. The proposed environmental design concept is [RAMBLING STATION TOWN]. The theme is "an urban shopping center where people gather at the station and spend a comfortable time, just like enjoying a stroll around town," and the whole area is wrapped in a fashionable and gentle atmosphere. Specifically, the facility facade is equipped with a "rhythm line border" with indirect light, which is reminiscent of Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture, a "music city" with a lot of musical activity. It is deployed to envelop the station concourse, creating a new patio for people walking around the city and S-PAL Koriyama. In addition, a folded ceiling made of wood and white rhythm lines with a "music score" concept design element is placed in conjunction with the Nakajima tenant environment. The rhythmic guidance draws people to the back of the facility. As an urban shopping center, S-PAL Koriyama aims to be a place that is supported by customers of all ages. [Social issues / Customer issues / Requests] - As the project was being promoted at the same time as the COVID-19 pandemic in the fall of 2020, the way in which commercial activities were conducted was questioned. - Due to the earthquake in the spring of 2021, a safe design was strongly required. - Upcycling of the environment was required to use the existing lease lines without changing the main flow of traffic. [Solution] Although the circulation lines are existing, the floor material has been renewed to a cobblestone style, and wooden materials that connect the entire facility have been incorporated in some areas to create a street where people can enjoy strolling around the city. In the atrium environment that serves as the axis of vertical circulation in the facility, a "rhythmic line gate" associated with "music city" has been added to the existing design to create a "new center court" that will become the concept design symbol of the entire facility, providing visitors with a natural and symbolic park environment that combines "things x events x time". We have created a new stage for people walking around the city and S-PAL Koriyama. <Our project members> [Planners] Hiroko Okazaki, Yuri Watamoto [Sales and project management] Hiroyuki Uesugi [design, layout] Kenichi Suzuki, Makio Miura [Production and construction] Johei Saito

S-PAL Sendai II

S-PAL Sendai II

A proposal competition was held for the complete renewal of SEPPAL SENDAI II in June 2020, 13 years after its opening in 2008, and we were selected. The environmental design concept we proposed for the renewal is [MORI TERRACE], to refine Tohoku's highest level of sensitivity and transform it into a new select store zone that offers customers proposals that are one step ahead of their lifestyles. Under the themes of "cozier than anywhere else" and "inspiration for everyday life," the entire space was composed based on organic lines and earth colors, enveloping the entire area in a mode and gentle atmosphere. Specifically, "big awnings and greenery" were deployed in the exterior plaza to create a new nexus between the facility and the people on the street. In addition, a light court on the ceiling, which is an element of "sunlight filtering through the trees" (concept design), is placed inside the facility in conjunction with the corridor environment, drawing people to the back of the facility through the sunlight. The light court is linked to the passageway environment, leading people to the back of the facility through the trees. The building aims to be a place that will be supported by customers of all ages with next-generation values by providing a sense of "relaxation and a sense of fun" with a sophisticated sensitivity. The project started in August 2020, when the Corona Disaster was to be promoted, and it was a development project that was questioned as to how to attract customers to commercial facilities. While negotiations with tenants were difficult, the project required an upcycling of the environment, with 90% of the main traffic lines using the existing lines. In addition to attracting customers, the project was also required to create a "new nexus between people on the street and S-PAR Sendai," and to attract and spread people further into the facility. SOLUTION: We installed "the most comfortable big awning and greenery" and "LED vision that provides inspiration for daily life" in the external plaza as a nodal point for people on the street, and as an information transmission plaza for this facility located at the northernmost tip of S-PAL Sendai, we are providing information about events and tenants to people on the street. It is a plaza that transmits information about events and tenants to people on the street. The LED Vision also provides hints for future content development, with a view to developing into a media medium from an interactive perspective between the facility and its customers, and creates a connection between the people on the street and the S-PAL. The goal was to create a place where people could "feel, touch, and communicate" from a passing facility. <Our project members> [Sales and project management] Hiroyuki Uesugi [Planning] Chihiro Watakai, Mayu Nakamura [design, layout] Kenichi Suzuki [Structural design] Taizo Komatsu [Production, construction] Tatsuo Sato
