Fujitsu Infinity Sports Square

Fujitsu Infinity Sports Square

This facility was born on the first floor of the main building of the Kawasaki Plant and combines Fujitsu Sports with a flexible communication space. Based on the concept of "a place where everyone with diverse values can gather on an equal footing and be positive toward their dreams," displays corner, which features items related to various sports teams and athletes, as well as items that deepen understanding of parasports, has been designed to be accessible to wheelchair users without stress. Some of the explanation tables and benches are made of precious wood that was carefully grown at a children's independence support facility in Engaru Town, Hokkaido, which has a deep connection to the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. In addition, an event space has been added to ensure that the space can be used for various workshops and events. [Social Issues / Customer Issues / Requests] We received a request to incorporate Fujitsu's new work style reform concept, "Work Life Shift," which aims to address the well-being of each individual and work autonomously. [Solution] We proposed a flexibility exercise class by cheerleading in the event space, providing an opportunity to improve employee well-being during lunch breaks. [Customer's comments] We were able to effectively convey the philosophy of the corporate sports room through the spatial decoration. It has also become an effective communication platform and has been very well received. <Our project members> [Sales/Project Management] Yuya Ono [Planning/ design, layout] Hiroyuki Tamura, Akane Yamaguchi, Junichi Ito [Sign/Graphic concept design] Akane Yamaguchi, Junichi Ito [Production/ construction] Toshiaki Hatada

Tourism base revitalization projects “Sea and Sauna” and “Jobus!!”

Tourism base revitalization projects “Sea and Sauna” and “Jobus!!”

In the Sawtooth Mountain area of Chiba Prefecture, known as a scenic tourist destination since the Edo period and selected as a candidate area for Japanese Heritage, the decrease in overnight and round-trip tourism (increase in one-day car trips) following the opening of the Tokyo Bay Aqualine and Tateyama Expressway, damage caused by Typhoons No. 15 and 19 in 2019 and the new Corona have caused a blow Reactivation of each tourist center is an issue. In the midst of this difficult environment, five businesses, including Kinokuniya Corporation, prepared a revitalization plan for tourism in the Sawtooth Mountain area and applied for the 2021 Japan Tourism Agency's "Project for Promoting Revitalization and High Value-Addition of Existing Tourism Bases," and as part of this project, two demonstration experiments were conducted. 1. Beach Sauna Event "Sea and Sauna" A demonstration experiment of a beach sauna event as a measure to effectively utilize the beach sauna during the winter season, when tourism use is scarce, in order to revitalize the beaches that were once a tourism hub. We were commissioned to serve as the secretariat for the application to the Japan Tourism Agency, and promoted a series of initiatives ranging from overall and individual planning, promotion of the beach sauna event demonstration experiment (planning, concept design, setup, operation, and promotion), verification of effectiveness, and reporting. 2. "Jyobus!", a trip overflowing with my favorite things This was a demonstration event for a sightseeing tour bus (secondary transportation) that connects various tourist attractions across city borders, which had long been an issue for consideration. We were commissioned to serve as the secretariat for the application to the Japan Tourism Agency, and promoted a series of initiatives from overall and individual planning to preparation for the demonstration, verification of effectiveness, and reporting. 1. Beach Sauna Event "Sea and Sauna" [Social Issues/Customer Issues/Requests] The diversification of the leisure industry in society and the shift to day-trip car tourism in the Sawtooth Mountain area not only led to a decline in the number of beach-bathing recreationists who had led the region, but also to a decline in related tourism businesses and a decline in visual and experiential vitality. It has also led to a decline in the visual and experiential vitality of the area. Although the situation remained challenging due to the combination of damage from a major typhoon and the new Corona, the premise was to make the event an easy-to-understand way to convey the charms of the Sawtooth Mountain area. The event was also to be an experiment to cultivate knowledge on the possibility of commercializing the "sauna users" that Kinokuniya is considering as a new target customer segment, and to conduct a more effective and efficient beach sauna event in the future. SOLUTION: The sauna event experiment was to energize both the community and the business, but was implemented at the same level as the main launch. Naming and artwork based on brand strategy, multifaceted media plan including news release/ SNS/ use of influencers and other measures in response to the response, introduction of web and electronic tickets, operations manual including measures against the new Corona, food marché and sauna that conveyed local attractions, local environmental design featuring local artists, and a step-by-step questionnaire survey in anticipation of reservation cancellations due to the new Corona, as one event project. 2. "Jyobus!", a trip overflowing with my favorite things. Social Issues/Customer Issues/Requests] As day-trip sightseeing by car has become the mainstream, "shorter stay time," "limited tour destinations," and "non-motorized users are moving away from sightseeing," the tourism economy has felt the downturn, but resources were lacking to quantitatively understand and analyze the situation. In addition, it was difficult to secure resources and establish a procedure to demonstrate the potential and ideas of how to promote tourism to the Tokyo metropolitan area and how to develop a sightseeing tour course. In response to the above requests, the challenge for this project was how to solidify the foothold to connect the demonstration operation to the full-scale operation, while giving shape to the ideas that the customers had in their minds. SOLUTION: Although this was a demonstration project, we followed procedures that were designed for a full-scale operation. The following were implemented: naming and artwork based on the brand strategy; development of a media plan and analysis of the response approximately one month prior to the 36-day operation period from January 4 to February 8, 2022; introduction of web and electronic ticketing on a trial basis and preparation of a response manual for the crew; introduction of a digital stamp rally to promote excursion and to understand the behavioral patterns of the riders; and introduction of a new Corona. The demonstration tour was designed as an event project, including the introduction of a digital stamp rally, a questionnaire survey in stages, assuming the cancellation of reservations by the new Corona. Sea and Sauna" and "Jyobus! We compiled the results of each of these demonstrations so that the report itself could serve as a guideline and be utilized in future discussions with related parties. <The results of each demonstration experiment were compiled into a report that could be used as a guideline for future discussions with related parties. 2. Marunouchi Street Park 2021 Summer

Marunouchi Street Park 2021 Summer

Marunouchi Street Park, which began in 2019, is a social experiment project to examine the future state and utilization of Marunouchi Nakadori. In the summer, the spatial concept was "Let's connect, summer street," and each of the three blocks spanning approximately 300 meters was developed with a different theme, while keeping in mind the connections between culture, regions, and people that are unique to Marunouchi. Block 1 in front of the Maru Building is themed on "Sports & Relax," and is planned as a wellness street where you can move your body and relax while refreshing yourself, with a ping-pong counter where you can enjoy table tennis and a deck with balance balls. Block 2 is themed on "Enjoy Eating Out," and offers the fun of eating in a parklet space surrounded by fairwood while enjoying outdoor live painting by artists based on the concept of SDGs and street piano. Block 3 is themed on "PARKcation," and was well received for its grass-surrounded workplace and cycle counter that represent the grassy hills swaying in the wind, and a summer beach resort scene using coral sand from Okinawa. In terms of safety and health, we also implemented special infection control measures such as measures against strong winds from typhoons and building winds, and spraying the entire building with an anti-viral coating. (Dates: August 2, 2021 to September 12, 2021) Fair Wood Initiatives For fixtures such as the counters, Nishikawa cedar and larch wood thinned in Hanno City, Saitama Prefecture is used. The design took advantage of the grain and color characteristics of the distinctive cedar heartwood known as the "black heart" and structural plywood. After the event, some of the wood used will be reused, and when it has completed its usefulness, it will be returned to nature and recycled into seedlings, reforestation, and forestry. <Our project members> [Project Director] Suzuki Echiyo [Sales Promotion] Ishiyama Shigeyuki, Yamamoto Hitomi [design, layout] Matsubara Miwa, Kaizawa Ayuko, Sudo Ryo, Sakuma Tonoeki [Planning] CIC: Saito Yusuke [Operation Management] CIC: Ando Kaoru [Production] Marumori Yukio, Yamaguchi Yuta, Yoshida Takuto ~Related Links~ [Notice] ・"Marunouchi Street Park Illumination Tour!" sponsored by NOMURA [Related Achievements] ・Marunouchi Street Park 2021 Winter

Marunouchi Street Park 2021 Winter

Marunouchi Street Park 2021 Winter

Marunouchi Street Park, which began in 2019, is a social experiment project to examine the future state and utilization of Marunouchi Nakadori. In winter, the spatial concept was "Amazing Winter Street," and scenes were created in three blocks spanning approximately 300 meters, where visitors could feel the warmth with all five senses while enjoying the illuminations. Block 1 was themed "Wonder Dining!" and featured a playful area with a glass house where visitors could dine while enjoying the illuminations, tree hammocks, and big chess. Block 2 was themed "Wonder Lounge!" and featured a two-story hut that served as a general information center and shop, a postbox with a simulated flame for posting purchased Christmas cards, a billiards table that could be enjoyed under the illuminations, and a fire pit where visitors could relax and enjoy the street piano. Block 3 is themed "Wonder Terrace!" and features a "Corridor of Light" covered with mirrors and an "Artists in Fire Terrace" where artists can work around a fake fire in the fireplace. (Date: 2021/12/2-12/25) "Illumination Tour for the Visually Impaired 2021 Winter" hosted by our company This tour is based on the theme of "dialogue" and is a walking tour that allows "everyone" to truly experience a "comfortable space". Volunteer staff will escort the visually impaired to the three blocks (total length approximately 300m) of Nakadori Street in winter, which is beautifully illuminated. We aimed to create a program that allows people with visual impairments to enjoy the beautiful illuminations through conversations that warm the body and mind. During the "Marunouchi Street Park 2021 Summer" (August-September) event, visually impaired people were seen using the park, so we conducted interviews with people who are visually impaired from birth. The results were: "The places I want to go are places I've been to once and enjoyed," "I'm nervous about taking the first step when going to a new place," "I didn't know Marunouchi was a park," and "Because I can't see, I enjoy things by using my imagination." Therefore, if we can kindly and carefully convey the charm of Marunouchi by "using a method of announcements that can be properly conveyed to visually impaired people" and "providing guidance with reliable support," they will want to "go again" and will love Marunouchi Nakadori even more. And we decided to hold this tour with the hope that it will be an opportunity for "everyone" to "feel, connect, and spend the seasons." <Our project members> [Project Director] Suzuki Echiyo [Sales] Ishiyama Shigeyuki, Yamamoto Hitomi [Planning] CIC: Saito Yusuke [Operations management] CIC: Ando Kaoru [concept design] Sakuma Tonoyoshi, Ozawa Kazuki, Matsubara Miwa [Architectural advisor] NAU: Okamoto Kiwami [Production] Marumori Yukio, Sasaki Ikuya, Yamaguchi Yuta, Kawashima Ayaka ~Related links~ [Announcement] ・"Marunouchi Street Park Illumination Tour!" sponsored by NOMURA [Related achievements] ・Marunouchi Street Park 2021 Summer

PARA HEROes Exhibition

PARA HEROes Exhibition

The "PARA HEROes" exhibition was planned to convey the spread of diversity and inclusion to Japan and the world by four young artists and creators expressing the appeal of the sport and the athletes through the theme of "Para Table Tennis". As part of NOMURA Ltd.'s support activities leading to the promotion of sports, and also due to the connection with the "Tokyo 2020 Paralympics One Year to Go Commemorative Event COLORS" held in October 2019, we were able to sponsor the project by providing planning and concept design. What did the artists feel when they encountered "Para Table Tennis", what did they think when they tried to incorporate it into their work, and what did they want to convey through the work they created? What emerged from this was the way they expressed what they saw through their own sensibilities, without any fixed ideas or preconceptions. We hoped that visitors would also be able to break away from preconceptions through the artists' expressions, increase their empathy for parasports, and face the works with a natural state of mind, so we concept design the space concept to be "Uncoated". The elements that make up the space also make use of the base materials, and incorporate base materials related to each piece of art. Particular attention was paid to how the art is displayed, so as to bring out the best in each piece. In line with NOMURA Group's goal of "providing added value from an environmental perspective," this displays was concept design so that around 90% of the work can be reused as is. The wood used was selected in accordance with the Fair Wood Support Declaration. <Our project members> [Planning support and concept design] Yamaguchi Akane, Onishi Ryo ~Related links~ [Release] -NOMURA, Ltd. sponsors concept design work for "PARA HEROes Exhibition 2," currently being held to great acclaim -NOMURA, Ltd. launches company-wide "social good" activities to create a happy impact on society and contribute to solving social issues [Announcement] - "PARA HEROes Exhibition," with concept design work sponsorship, currently being held

ARTBAY TOKYO

ARTBAY TOKYO

This is an art-based urban development project based in the waterfront subcenter area. The aim is to connect the five areas and the vast city of over 440 hectares through art and increase its appeal. For the first project, architect Motosuke Bandai was invited to design a pavilion called ARTBAYHOUSE. The pavilion was created with the concept of "architecture that embraces the 'nature' that is unique to this place." The architecture itself is an experiential work of art, and at the same time, it is a space that serves as a base for various art and urban development projects, as it changes while being enveloped in the ever-changing nature of light, wind, rain, and plants. There is also a cafe inside, and pets are allowed inside. The space where people, plants, animals, insects, and other various "nature" can each spend their time comfortably is a place where you can experience unprecedented newness that questions the future of cities and spaces. [Social issues / Customer issues / Requests] The waterfront subcenter area has all the basic urban functions, but the scale of each building and road is large, and there was a lack of places where people could spend their time comfortably, especially outdoors. Furthermore, although there are many natural attractions not found in urban areas, such as ocean views and wide skies, these were not being fully utilized. [Solution] 1. Create a human-scale space that serves as a starting point for urban development, where people can gather and feel comfortable. 2. Create content that has the power to attract and spread information, making people want to visit. 3. Implement experimental programs that are unique to the waterfront new city center area. With these three pillars as the planning axis, we aimed to realize an art project unique to this area that would present new value while responding to the issues facing the town. <Our project members> [Sales/Project Management] Ito Etsuro, Ibe Reiko [Research/Planning] Sugimoto Taku, Yokota Tomoko, Mochizuki Mina
