overview

This exhibition was made possible by the conclusion of a comprehensive partnership agreement between Special Olympics Japan and Chukyo University in May 2022.
This special exhibition is held in the space of the Chukyo University Sports Museum, which pursues the diverse value of physical culture, and allows visitors to experience and learn about the charm of the Special Olympics, including the history and characteristics of Special Olympics activities, and domestic initiatives.
In addition, the Special Olympics promotes unified sports®, not only competitions for people with intellectual disabilities, but also aligns with the global trend toward "cohesive societies" and "social inclusion." The hope is that the exhibition will lead to ``the realization of a society in which diverse people can live.''

Issues/requests

The Special Olympics Japan organization has established bases and regional organizations across the country, and has continued to hold domestic competitions and send athletes to world competitions, focusing on activities in each region. As a challenge, we had a plan to expand our business area with a focus on athletes' social participation.
Therefore, as part of our efforts to increase social participation, the challenge was how to convey the concept of diversity through the Special Olympics to the general public in an easy-to-understand manner through an exhibition.

solution

First, the designer team interviewed Special Olympics Nippon and communicated through dialogue about materials and issues. The contents of displays were considered based on the concept of "Be with all," which takes into account the theme of athletes' participation in society. Specifically, by using the red color and circle of the logo as the foreground in the spatial concept design, we aimed to spread social recognition as a visual impression. In addition, we adopted a reusable fixture system so that displays can be traveled to various parts of Japan in the future.
In addition, the leaflet that will be distributed as the face of the exhibition aims to convey a strong message and appeal while linking it to the concept of the spatial concept design. Our company is also supporting this exhibition by providing concept design support.
