“WOODJACK” Product development work related to the use of domestic wood

We were commissioned by Mitsubishi Estate to propose and develop new product ideas for office interiors materials for their group company MEC Industry, and from among a number of ideas, we worked on developing partitions and OA floors for the sale of wood products. Ta.
At the "Non-Residential Wooden Architecture Fair 2023" to be held in May 2023, the mock-ups created during the development process will be displays at the Mitsubishi Estate Group booth, and we will also be looking at design, layout that can be installed at the Mitsubishi Estate Group booth. This was done in collaboration with all concerned parties.
Through this fair, we received feedback from those involved and refined the mock-up in terms of concept design, construction, and procurement in preparation for actual sales, which led to the installation of Mitsubishi Estate's headquarters.
NOMURA also cooperates with the design and construction of the installation.

We received a request to develop a product that can be mass-produced and unitized, keeping in mind the following points and narrowing down the types in consideration of cost balance.
・We want to increase the amount of domestically produced materials used.
・I want to increase the value of the space by taking advantage of the value of domestic materials.
・We would like to develop applications for CLT materials (orthogonal laminated boards).

We started by recruiting members from within the company's concept design and production departments with knowledge in various fields and brainstorming ideas.
Since our customers are particularly interested in products in the office field, we are asking questions about what commonly used off-the-shelf office products can be replaced with wood, and what can be done to increase the value of the space. After delving deeper into ideas from different perspectives, we decided to test two options: a wooden partition and a wooden OA floor.

As we take on the challenge of a new business called product development, we find it useful to work with your company, which covers a wide range of business areas, including concept design, construction, and procurement. I feel that we are taking the shortest path to completing product development.
