“WOODJACK” Product development work related to the use of domestic wood

Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd. commissioned its group company, MEC Industry, to propose and develop new office interiors material product ideas. From among numerous ideas, we focused on developing wood-based partitions and raised access flooring products for sale.
At the "Non-Residential Wooden Building Fair 2023" held in May 2023, we collaborated with Mitsubishi Estate and other booth personnel to consider the feasibility of installing the mock design, layout ups created during the displays process within the Mitsubishi Estate Group booth.
Following this fair, feedback was exchanged among stakeholders, and the mock-up was refined from concept design, construction, and procurement perspectives in preparation for actual sales, ultimately leading to its installation at Mitsubishi Estate's Head Office.
NOMURA Co.,Ltd. Ltd. also cooperates in the design and construction of the installation.

We received a request to develop a product that can be mass-produced and unitized, keeping in mind the following points and narrowing down the types in consideration of cost balance.
・We want to increase the amount of domestically produced materials used.
・I want to increase the value of the space by taking advantage of the value of domestic materials.
・We would like to develop applications for CLT materials (orthogonal laminated boards).

We started by gathering members with expertise in various fields from within the company's concept design and production departments and conducting brainstorming sessions.
Given the customer's particular interest in office products, we delved deeper into ideas from the perspective of what commonly used office products could be replaced with wood, and how this could enhance the value of the space. As a result, we decided to examine two options: wooden partitions and wooden raised access flooring.
