Kyushu Mitsubishi Motors Sales Co., Ltd. KMG Building

This is a reconstruction project for the showroom and office of Kyushu Mitsubishi Motors Sales Co., Ltd. It is an 8-story steel-framed building, and we were in charge of the interiors design and construction of the cafe and restaurant on the first floor and the showroom on the second floor. As a new landmark for Yakuin, Fukuoka City, we aimed to create a space that can connect with people and the city (region) with the concept of "obi". The cafe and restaurant are concept design to be an open space that is easy to enter and to be a communication space integrated with the showroom. In addition, we installed large digital signage, a turntable that symbolically displays cars, and a lighted ceiling, and sprinkled elements to naturally make customers at the cafe interested in cars. The showroom on the second floor adopts an organic design that makes extensive use of curved surfaces that symbolize the "obi", and the ceiling has a concept design pattern that deforms Mitsubishi's three diamonds. In addition, the showroom is based on the Mitsubishi brand colors of black, white, and gray, and has a simple and solid feel that is "typical of Mitsubishi Motors". In addition, we set up a kids' corner where children can have fun even if they come as a family, a corner to promote V2H technology, and a dedicated corner for important business negotiations, and designed the space to further update the functions of a conventional showroom space. construction: PS Mitsubishi/Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Transportation Construction Engineering Joint Venture [Social Issues/Customer Issues/Requests] In addition to existing customers, we received a request to create a space that would attract a wide range of new customer groups that had not been fully captured until now, such as young families and young people who are not very interested in cars. [Solution] The cafe restaurant on the first floor facing the main street has openable sash windows that eliminate borders between the terrace seats and the inside of the store, allowing signage images and various events to be promoted all the way to the street, aiming to create a space that can attract a wide variety of customers. The symbolic spiral staircase and atrium leading to the showroom on the second floor, and the uniformity of materials that unite the two floors, naturally invite customers who use the cafe restaurant into the showroom, where they can experience Mitsubishi Motors' V2H technology and the latest technology, and experience the potential of automobiles to bring sustainable prosperity and happiness to people, creating an iconic environment. The showroom was planned with the customer's perspective in mind throughout, with a kids' corner located in the center so that children can be kept an eye on while business negotiations are taking place. Nagasaki Kaido Kamome Market

Just as the Nagasaki Kaido was once a bridge that spread the culture and technology that had been introduced to Nagasaki to the rest of the country, the Nishi-Kyushu Shinkansen Kamome has become a new bridge, and the Nagasaki Kaido Kamome Market is spreading the charm of Nagasaki to the rest of the country. The facility development concept is "Nagasaki First." We aim to spread the "Nagasaki-ness" of the city, "connect Nagasaki to the prefecture, the outside world, and the world," "make Nagasaki lively," and "make people want to stop by every day." [Social issues/customer issues/requests] As the gateway to the newly reborn land of Nagasaki, we were asked to create a space that would generate new interactions and be full of bustle. [Solution] concept design concept was "Nagasaki, a city of rich waterside culture and history," and we aimed to express the port that connects to overseas. The facade concept design uses blue and white wave-shaped tiles to express the waterside of Nagasaki Port and the light sparkling between the waves. The interior concept design embodies the city of Nagasaki by creating a space that is easy to move around in, and the layout of the large outer perimeter traffic flow and the small paths that run inwards allows customers to encounter a large number of shops that condense the city of Nagasaki, creating a space that is "somewhat nostalgic yet new" and achieves harmony between the city and its people. JRE Kanda Ogawamachi Building

JRE Kanda Ogawamachi Building

This project involved renovating and enhancing the value of an office building located in a corner of Kanda Ogawamachi, approximately 20 years old. The main renovations included a portion of the exterior façade, the building sign, the first-floor entrance, and the common area on the standard floor (fourth floor). The overall concept design concept was "timeless and biophilic concept design." By effectively utilizing the existing granite space, we minimized waste disposal during removal. By combining traditional and new materials, we achieved a cost-effective concept design that is both sustainable and cost-effective. *Biophilic concept design: A design or methodology that allows occupants to feel connected to nature. [Social Issues/Customer Issues/Requests] After 20 years in business, the building's entrance and other concept design elements were becoming outdated, and its competitiveness within the area was declining. Furthermore, since the building's entrance does not face a main street, the main traffic flow felt somewhat like a back alley, leaving room for improvement in terms of the building's visibility. Taking these challenges into consideration, this project required renovations to the entrance, facade, and some of the standard floors to improve the property's competitiveness and visibility. [Solution] To soften the previously dark, backstreet-like feel of the building, the facade was fitted with dynamic wood-grain louvers and indirect lighting, creating a brighter look. The entrance hall's dual aesthetic of glass and natural wood revamps the old-fashioned feel and aims to boost the motivation of employees. Sanitary equipment, such as the restrooms and kitchens on the office floors, was also updated to comply with new standards, including antibacterial properties. These comprehensive renovations aim to make the entire building a safe and secure place for employees. [Customer Feedback] NOMURA Co.,Ltd. This is an experimental facility aimed at expanding Panasonic's air quality and air conditioning product solutions, with three themes in mind: "Air quality issues in non-residential spaces," "A place to co-create with business partners," and "Experience the latest prototypes that control the seven elements of air quality." Through this facility, you can actually experience the "wind," which leads to the promotion of solutions that meet customer needs through co-creation and development. In order to allow you to feel the wind in various locations as air quality and air conditioning solutions, group worksheets, meeting spaces, and private booths are available, making it possible to experience the "wind" in each situation. The purpose of using this facility is to promote co-creation and further lead to the practice of a human-centered product development process. [Social Issues / Customer Issues / Requests] In order to expand the scope of air quality and air conditioning solutions, we received a request to create a place that would more attractively convey the excellent features of the latest products. [Solution] Taking advantage of the glass façade that pours in natural light, we aimed to create a space that feels more comfortable when the solution "wind" overlaps. We have also devised ways to highlight the effectiveness of "wind" as one of the interiors components. Furthermore, the air quality and conditioning solutions incorporated into each booth and area have been designed with consideration given to the layout and zoning so that they are not simply displays, but can also be used for meetings and workspaces. [Customer feedback] Thanks to the well-balanced proposal for materials that have a natural feel, such as wood grain and stone, the plants blended into the space when they were added, creating a space that harmonizes with the wind and gives a sense of well-being. Kumamoto Castle Tower

The Kumamoto Earthquake in April 2016 also damaged the castle tower of Kumamoto Castle. In response to people's longing for the symbolic castle tower to return to its original form, the city of Kumamoto set a policy of early restoration of the tower. The building was completed in March 2021 with the latest earthquake-resistant technology. It carries on the wishes of the people who repaired the castle after repeated disasters over the 400 years since its construction, and contains messages from the people of Kumamoto living in the present for the next 100 to 400 years. displays organized the theme from the basement to the top floor in chronological order to create a corresponding space concept design, and created an easy-to-understand and impressive space using models, images, and wall concept design. It focuses on the castle tower, not the castle as a whole, and conveys the history of the castle construction, its architectural design, its defensive function, the castle and town development, and the thoughts and history of the people who restored the castle after every disaster. [Social Issues/Customer Issues/Requests] ・ Disseminate the historical, architectural and spiritual significance of the keep, which is a symbol of recovery from the Kumamoto Earthquake. In addition, it should be reported that Kumamoto Castle, which has historically suffered from numerous natural disasters, was revived by the recent earthquake. ・ Focus not on the whole of Kumamoto Castle, but on the "Kumamoto Castle keep," and try to share roles, collaborate and complement displays contents of the surrounding facilities. ・ Since there are many restrictions on the preservation environment in the castle tower, basically displays of actual materials should not be done, and the history displays of the keep of Kumamoto Castle after the Seinan War should be added, which was not done before. ・ From the perspective of Universal concept design, we will introduce touch displays and multilingual voice guides so that a wide range of people can enjoy displays. I received the above request. [Solution] With the castle tower as the main character, we organized the story along the timeline from the castle's construction to the present, and set a theme for each time period on each floor. The story is arranged so that you can follow the period from the lower floor to the upper floor. The first floor is the period of Kiyomasa Kato, who built the castle, the Hosokawa period, who became the lord of the domain after that, the modern period, which experienced a complete fire and reconstruction, and the present day, when the Kumamoto earthquake and recovery efforts were made.In addition to the building of the castle tower, we focused on the strong will of the people who repaired it every time after repeated disasters since the Edo period to convey the "I want to restore Kumamoto Castle and pass it on to future generations." Furthermore, to cater to a wide range of visitors, multilingual audio guides and palpable models of the keep were planned and realized. MID POINT Musashi Kosugi

This project was launched in July 2020 by Cosmos Initia Co., Ltd., a member of the Daiwa House Group, as the third installment of its rental office business, MID POINT, which aims to realize the concept of “work and home proximity.” We were responsible for concept design, schematic design, working drawings, and construction. The store is located in the Kosugi 3rd Avenue complex, a two-minute walk from Musashi-Kosugi Station, and is conveniently located for both work and customer service. In addition to the traditional office space, the lounge also features a kitchen equipped with tableware and cooking utensils, making it a space that can be used not only for business purposes, but also for holding events for contracted employees. There is also a cafe open to the local community, which can be used by those who are not contracted with MID POINT. We were also in charge of the following stores:・MID POINT Omori (Opening February 2022) ・MID POINT Shibuya Shinsen (Opening December 2021) ・MID POINT Kawasaki (Opening April 2021) ・MID POINT Meguro Fudomae (Opening November 2018) [Social Issues/Customer Issues/Requests] We were asked to provide a cafe and a lounge space on the first floor that is easy for our clients to use while ensuring sufficient office space and number of rooms. [Solution] By concentrating the kitchen and plumbing equipment in the center of the first floor, we were able to maximize the number of seats in the cafe and lounge while improving space efficiency. In addition, by making the kitchen a counter kitchen, we were able to concept design the cafe and office space to be separated while still allowing a full view of the entire space. [Customer Feedback] As the third base for MID POINT, we were able to achieve an excellent balance between upgrading the existing base and adding a new cafe. Nice Co., Ltd. Head Office Renovation

This is a Head Office renovation project for Nice Co., Ltd., a distributor of wood and building materials, celebrating its 70th anniversary. We were selected as the result of a proposal competition. Based on the concept of "knowing trees and communicating about trees," we aimed to build a base where wood specialists can gather and create a sustainable circulation centered on wood, thereby aiming to be a "facility that contributes to creating a bright society with trees" that can further stimulate the distribution of wood. The first and second floors, where visitors are welcomed, and the eighth floor, which has a reception room, were considered to be places that could appeal to customers, and were concept design using Nice's original wood products as materials. In the lobby, the dynamic wooden colonnade that stretches up to the high ceiling of the atrium and the vertical blinds made of lace material attached to the large glass windows gently block the view from the outside world, and the scattered glass lamps express the sunlight filtering through the trees, making the most of the large space to create a hospitality space. On the 7th floor, where employees gather, we have set up a conference room and a reading corner so that employees can enjoy and spontaneously interact with "trees." It is a place for artisans to gather and browse technology. By creating spaces where employees can concentrate and spaces that encourage active communication, we have created a flexible space configuration that caters to the working style of each employee. [Social issues/customer issues/requests] The specific request for this renewal was to share concept design and values that symbolize sustainability, such as "carbon-free and wood-based," and to create an office environment that improves communication during the COVID-19 pandemic. [Solution] In order to realize the strong desire for wood-based materials, we communicated closely with NICE's project managers and their own factory managers, and proceeded with concept design while deciding on the materials and color of the wood. The communication area for employees is intentionally designed to have no boundaries, and the area is softly divided by furniture such as a family restaurant bench and a solo desk where you can concentrate on your work, centered around an arched bookshelf. By making it an OA floor, it has the function of realizing a flexible working style. [Customer feedback] NOMURA Co.,Ltd. took on the project, and thanks to them we were able to create a welcoming space that is reminiscent of a high-quality, relaxed hotel lobby, something we would never have dreamed up ourselves. This time, they used a variety of their own products and tree species as materials. What could have easily been a disjointed impression was managed to exquisitely harmonize the characteristics of the tree species with the space, achieving a wooden renovation befitting a company with roots in "wood". Mitaka Memoried Hall

"A funeral hall that is close to the community" This is a funeral hall in Mitaka, Tokyo, by Memoryd Co., Ltd., which provides life support services including ceremonial occasions. We were in charge of everything from architecture to interiors design, layout construction. It is a facility for holding a full funeral ceremony, consisting of two halls, a purification hall, a mortuary room, a bathing room, a waiting room, and a space for the funeral procession and parking. In response to the green and pleasant living environment in the surrounding area, the concept was "a funeral hall that resonates with the town," "a mansion-like appearance with textured finishes," and "a welcoming space that continues from the outside to the inside." The space is low-rise and has green spaces, while the pilotis and openings welcome the local community, nature, and light, creating a spatial composition that blends in with the surrounding environment. In addition, the pilotis connects to the first floor entrance, and the stairs connects to the second floor foyer, drawing in light from the second floor to the first floor, creating a space that makes the exterior space seem continuous with the interior. interiors and FF&E were concept design with the concept of "an organic space that envelops precious time with the deceased" and with a calm and gentle impression that gently envelops the time that has been woven and accumulated. At the same time, we aimed to create a funeral hall that is close to the community, both in terms of hardware and software, while complying with Mitaka City regulations and neighborhood explanations. [Social issues / Customer issues / Requests] As it will be a funeral hall in a residential area, we were asked to consistently consider the neighborhood in both hardware and software. In addition, wakes and funerals are rarely held over two days these days, and one-day funerals and family funerals are the norm. In addition, the number of attendees is limited due to the effects of COVID-19, so we were asked to concept design a space that can accommodate a short period of time and a small number of people. [Solution] In consideration of the neighborhood, we reduced the feeling of oppression by creating a low-rise building with a setback* from the road and green spaces, and by creating an appearance like a mansion with a textured finish, we minimized the image of a funeral hall as much as possible, while creating concept design that blends in with the surrounding residential environment. The pilotis on the first floor is a space that is softly partitioned while blocking the view with wire greenery and louvers, and is not hidden by walls, but is open to the surrounding environment. The facility's activities can be felt and it is a space that can be easily entered during events, so it was planned as a facility that is recognized and understood by local residents. At the same time, we aimed to create a "funeral hall that is close to the community" in terms of both hardware and software, while complying with Mitaka City regulations and neighborhood explanations. Chinese Cuisine Guotai Hotel

"Kokutai Chinese Restaurant" has long been a beloved Chinese restaurant and a tenant of the Kyobashi Daiichi Life Building in Chuo Ward, Tokyo. Due to the building's reconstruction, the restaurant relocated to the neighboring building across the intersection, "Kyobashi Soseikan," and reopened. Facing the Kyobashi intersection and conveniently located just a few steps from Kyobashi Station on the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line, the restaurant is highly recognizable and is loved by locals for both daily use and customer service, just as it was before the relocation. [Social Issues/Customer Issues/Requests] As the relocation was due to the reconstruction of an existing store's building, the customer requested that the layout be maintained in terms of the number of private rooms and seats, as well as the ease of use of the kitchen and the high demand for banquets. [Solution] While referring to the layout of the existing store, we made a layout plan to fit the new store area and made improvements to the usability to meet the request. In addition, as the store has moved from only having an entrance facing the street to now having two glass sides facing the road, we have effectively used Chinese lattice so that it can be instantly recognized as a Chinese restaurant, helping to increase customer recognition and increasing the visibility of the interior, making concept design easier to enter.
