overview
This is the Saitama Shintoshin store of PAPABUBBLE, an art candy shop that started in the back alleys of Barcelona and has spread to more than 30 countries around the world.
It is an experience-based store where candy makers and customers can come together to enjoy candy through a candy manufacturing performance that takes place inside the store.
At our Saitama Shintoshin store, we aimed for a seamless store environment by minimizing the boundary between the kitchen space where the performance takes place and the customers, so that customers can enjoy candy making in a more immersive way.
Therefore, the interior concept design was conceived with the concept of making customers feel as if they were in a kitchen, using stainless steel, the same material used in kitchens, as the main material. Kitchen equipment and materials are scattered throughout the store.
In addition, in the store's stock space, factory-use vinyl curtains are used to intentionally show the materials used to make the candy, maximizing the presence of art candy being created in front of you.
As a next-generation candy shop that is conscious of experiential consumption and SDGs, we are disseminating plans that allow customers to participate in manufacturing, and turning candy ends, which were previously disposed of as scraps, into premium products that are difficult to obtain. We are also starting a new service that will make you reborn.
Issues/requests
The challenge was to create a shop that removed as many barriers as possible between the candy craftsmen who were making the candy and the customers, so that customers could enjoy candy making with a sense of realism.
solution
The concept was to give customers the feeling of being in the kitchen.
The main material is stainless steel, the same material used in the kitchen, and kitchen equipment is also used for the fixtures and shelves in the sales area. By incorporating kitchen materials throughout the store, a seamless concept design is achieved.
Furthermore, in the store's storage area, factory-grade insect-proof vinyl curtains are used to deliberately showcase the candy ingredients, maximizing the sense of realism as customers witness the creation of art candy right before their eyes.
