To Our Future- SCRAP MATERIAL UPCYCLE PROJECT- SCRAPTURE

To Our Future- SCRAP MATERIAL UPCYCLE PROJECT- SCRAPTURE

This project is an upcycling initiative that displays "SCRAP," a byproduct of building and interiors materials, into "FURNITURE" for reuse and return to the Earth. According to the Ministry of the Environment, Japan's industrial waste generation in fiscal year 2020 amounted to 373.82 million tons*, with nearly 1 million tons of scrap generated per day. We, as creators who work with a variety of materials daily in our concept design work, believe we have a responsibility to take the lead in communicating to society and our communities about the recycling of limited Earth resources. We have formed a team of young creators within the company and are planning and operating this project as a social contribution activity. We enclose and complement shredded waste materials as furniture in a transparent surface made of recycled vinyl, and displays in an art-style displays to convey our message, touring offices and public spaces both domestically and internationally. This project is a traveling sustainability initiative that involves displays materials for a certain period, then returning them to interiors and construction sites as interiors resources, and finally encapsulating, supplementing, and displays the next batch of waste materials. To reach a wider audience, a launch displays was held in the entrance space of our own office to solicit sponsoring companies, and we have received support from many sponsoring companies, local residents, and educational institutions. By allowing people to "see, learn about, and touch" "interiors waste materials" that they don't usually see in their daily lives, we are creating an installation-style displays that allows everyone to intuitively grasp the message, hoping to provide an "opportunity" to think about a better future and a sustainable society. *Source: Ministry of the Environment, "Total Emissions in FY2020"

Kyushu Mitsubishi Motors Sales Co., Ltd. KMG Building

Kyushu Mitsubishi Motors Sales Co., Ltd. KMG Building

This project involved the rebuilding of Kyushu Mitsubishi Motors Sales Co., Ltd.'s showroom and office. The building is an eight-story steel-frame structure, and our company was responsible for interiors design and construction of the café/restaurant on the first floor and the showroom on the second floor. As a new landmark in Yakuin, Fukuoka City, we aimed to create a space that connects with people and the city (region) based on the concept of a "sash" or "belt." The café/restaurant was concept design as an inviting, open space, integrated with the showroom as a communication space. Large digital signage, a turntable symbolically displays automobiles, and a luminous ceiling were also incorporated, incorporating elements to naturally pique the interest of café patrons in cars. The second-floor showroom incorporates an organic design with many curved surfaces symbolizing the "sash," and the ceiling features a concept design pattern that is a stylized version of Mitsubishi's three-diamond logo. Furthermore, the showroom is based on Mitsubishi's brand colors of black, white, and gray, resulting in a simple yet dignified showroom that is distinctly "Mitsubishi Motors." In addition, the space was designed to further update the functionality of the traditional showroom space by including a kids' corner where children can play and have fun when visiting with their families, a corner to promote V2H technology, and a dedicated corner for important business negotiations. construction: PS Mitsubishi/Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Transportation Construction Engineering Joint Venture [Social Issues/Customer Issues/Requests] In addition to existing customers, the customer requested a space that would attract a wide range of new customer segments that had not been fully reached before, such as young families and young people who are not particularly interested in cars. [Solution] The cafe restaurant on the first floor facing the main street was designed with openable sash windows to create a borderless space between the terrace seating and the interior, allowing for the display of signage videos and various events on the street, aiming to create a space that can attract a diverse range of customers. The symbolic spiral staircase and atrium leading to the second-floor showroom, along with the unified use of materials, seamlessly integrate the two floors, naturally guiding customers using the cafe restaurant into the showroom. There, they can experience Mitsubishi Motors' V2H technology and the latest advancements, creating an iconic environment where people can feel the potential of automobiles to bring sustainable prosperity and happiness. A kids' corner is placed in the center of the showroom, allowing staff to keep an eye on their children while conducting business, demonstrating a customer-centric approach to planning. Furthermore, consideration for reducing environmental impact has been given to incorporating V2H linked to solar power generation on the building's rooftop, as well as motion sensors and an automatic dimming system for lighting control. <Our Project Members> [Sales/Project Management] Naoki Goto [concept design] Kazuyoshi Takao, Riho Sawada [Production/ construction] Keiji Nakano

JRE Kanda Ogawamachi Building

JRE Kanda Ogawamachi Building

This is a value-enhancing renovation project for an office building located in a corner of Kanda Ogawacho, approximately 20 years old. The main areas of renovation are part of the exterior facade and building signage, the first-floor entrance, and the common areas on the standard floors (4th floor). The overall concept design concept is "Timeless & Biophilic concept design *". By making good use of the existing granite space, the amount of waste disposal due to demolition was minimized, and concept design was made cost-effective while being mindful of sustainability by fusing old and good materials with new materials. *Biophilic concept design: Design and methods that allow people in a space to feel a connection with nature. [Social Issues/Client Issues/Requests] As the building was over 20 years old, the outdated concept design of the entrance and other areas, as well as the decline in competitiveness within the area, were concerns for the future. In addition, since the building's entrance does not face the main street, the main traffic flow had a somewhat alley-like impression, and there was room for improvement in terms of the building's visibility. Based on these challenges, this project required improving the competitiveness and visibility of the property through renovations to the entrance, facade, and some standard floors. [Solution] To soften the previously dark, back-alley feel of the facade, dynamic wood-grain louvers and indirect lighting were newly installed to create a brighter building face. Inside the entrance, two different textures, glass and natural wood, were used to refresh the old-fashioned feel and aim to improve the morale of the people working there. Sanitary equipment such as toilets and kitchenettes on the office floors were also renovated to meet new standards such as antibacterial properties. Through these comprehensive renovations, the aim is to make the entire building a safe and comfortable place for the people who work there. [Customer Feedback] We are grateful to all the sales, designers, and construction staff at NOMURA Co.,Ltd. for working together as a team on this project, which has now been successfully completed. We appreciate the meticulous support at each phase. We feel that the renovated facade and entrance are functioning perfectly as the new face of the building. <Our Project Members> [Development] Takuya Kitai [Sales & Project Management] Masahiro Harada, Kayu Tatsumi [Research] Wataru Takada [design, layout] Hiroyuki Nii, Sayaka Miyane, Hitoshi Igarashi [Production & construction] Mai Sakai, Tomokuni Hasegawa, Fumiya Sasaki

AIR HUB TOKYO

AIR HUB TOKYO

This experimental facility aims to expand Panasonic's air quality and air conditioning solutions, focusing on three themes: "Challenges in air quality in non-residential spaces," "A place for co-creation with business partners," and "Experiencing the latest prototype that controls the seven elements of air quality." Through this space, visitors can actually experience "wind" and use co-creation and development to promote solutions that meet customer needs. To allow visitors to feel the wind in various locations as part of the air quality and air conditioning solutions, group worksheets, meeting spaces, and private booths are available, enabling visitors to experience "wind" in different situations. The aim is for the use of this facility to promote co-creation and further lead to the practice of a human-centered product development process. [Social Issues/Customer Issues/Requests] In order to expand the scope of air quality and air conditioning solutions, we received a request for a place to more attractively convey the excellent features of the latest products. [Solution] We utilized the glass facade that lets in natural light and constructed the space using materials that evoke natural elements such as wood grain and stone, aiming to create a space that feels more comfortable when combined with the "wind" solution. We have also made efforts to highlight the effectiveness of "wind" as one of the interiors design elements. Furthermore, the air quality and climate control solutions incorporated into each booth and area are not merely for displays, but are designed with careful consideration of layout and zoning to ensure they are easy to use as actual meeting spaces and workspaces. [Customer Feedback] The balanced proposal of materials that evoke natural elements such as wood grain and stone allowed the plants to blend seamlessly into the space when added, creating a well-being-oriented environment that harmonizes with the wind. Our employees also found the layout to be comfortable and easy to use. <Our Project Members> [Sales & Project Management] Nomura Medias: Hikaru Sato [design, layout] Hiroaki Mori [Production & construction] Nomura Medias: Toshiaki Kawabata, Kazuhiro Sano

MID POINT Musashi Kosugi

MID POINT Musashi Kosugi

This project involves "MID POINT Musashi Kosugi" (Nakahara-ku, Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture), newly established in July 2020 by Cosmos Initia Co., Ltd., a member of the Daiwa House Group, as the third installment of their "MID POINT" rental office concept that realizes "living and working in close proximity." Our company was in charge of concept design, schematic design, working drawings, and construction. Located in "Kosugi 3rd Avenue," a multi-purpose complex just a 2-minute walk from Musashi Kosugi Station, it boasts an excellent location for both work and business meetings. In addition to the traditional workspace, the lounge also includes a kitchen equipped with tableware and cooking utensils, making it a space that can be used not only for purely business purposes but also for events held by contract holders. Furthermore, a cafe is attached, which is open to the community and can be used by people who do not have a contract with MID POINT. Our company also handled the following stores.・MID POINT Omori (Opened February 2022) ・MID POINT Shibuya Shinsen (Opened December 2021) ・MID POINT Kawasaki (Opened April 2021) ・MID POINT Meguro Fudomae (Opened November 2018) [Social Issues / Customer Issues / Requests] The request was to secure sufficient office space and rooms while also having a cafe on the first floor and a lounge space that is easy for contract holders to use. [Solution] By consolidating the kitchen and water facilities in the center of the first floor, we increased space efficiency while zoning to secure the maximum number of seats for the cafe and lounge. In addition, by making the kitchen a counter kitchen, concept design separates the cafe and office space while allowing the entire space to be seen. [Customer Feedback] As the third MID POINT location, they upgraded the existing location while also achieving an excellent balance in incorporating a cafe, which was a new initiative. Furthermore, despite the challenging floor plan, they adjusted the layout to ensure a comfortable living space while securing rental income. <Our Project Members> ・MID POINT Musashi-Kosugi [Sales/Project Management] Shima Keita [design, layout] Ni'i Hiroyuki, Miyane Sayaka [Production and construction] Hirano Kentaro [Planning and Operational Advice] Suzuki Saeko, Nomura Naoki ・MID POINT Omori [Sales/Project Management] Kobori Takashi, Shima Keita, Ichikura Mizuki [Planning] Sugimoto Taku [concept design Direction] Kashiwase Hisako, Eto Sayaka ・MID POINT Shibuya-Shinsen [Sales/Project Management] Kobori Takashi, Shima Keita, Ichikura Mizuki [Planning] Sugimoto Taku
