overview

This project is an upcycling activity in which "SCRAP" generated from building materials and interiors materials is complemented and displays as "FURNITURE", reused as a recycled material, and given back to the Earth.

According to the Ministry of the Environment, Japan's industrial waste output in fiscal year 2020 will amount to 373.82 million tons* per year, with nearly one million tons of scrap generated per day. As creators who come into contact with a variety of materials in our concept design work every day, we felt that it was our responsibility to take the lead in spreading the word about recycling the earth's limited resources to society and the local community. We formed a team of young creators within the company and are planning and running projects as social contribution activities.

The project will travel to offices and public spaces in Japan and abroad, with crushed waste materials enclosed and supplemented as furniture in a transparent skin made of recycled vinyl, and displays in an displays-like style to convey a message. After a certain period of displays, the materials will be returned to interiors and construction sites as interiors resources, and the next waste materials will be enclosed, supplemented, and displays again, making it a traveling sustainability project.

In order to deliver the message to as many people as possible, we held a launch displays in the entrance space of our own office to solicit supporting companies, and have received support from many supporting companies, local people, and educational institutions. By allowing people to "see, learn about, and touch" interiors waste materials that are not seen in everyday life, we hope to provide a "trigger" for thinking about a better future and a sustainable society by creating displays with an installation-like concept that allows anyone to intuitively grasp the message.
