Park Wellstate Kamogawa

Park Wellstate Kamogawa

"Park Wellstate" by Mitsui Fudosan Residential is a senior service residence that aims to allow mature, active seniors with diverse values to live a new stage of life in a more free and rich way, in their own way. "Park Wellstate Kamogawa", the second property following "Park Wellstate Hamadayama", was built in Kamogawa City, Chiba Prefecture, and is a 22-story building with approximately 470 units. It is a high-value-added facility that has partnered with the medical corporation that runs Kameda General Hospital in the same city and has leisure functions within the facility. Our company was in charge of the lobby and reception in the common area, the promenade, the club lounge, the restaurant, etc. [Social issues / Customer issues / Requests] The land where this project was built, Kamogawa, was originally a hilly area covered with forests with a rich ecosystem. In the 1990s, it was used as a quarry, and the trees were cut down, leaving the rock surface exposed, and the natural environment was lost. From the viewpoint that the natural environment is the foundation of a healthy and rich life and improves the quality of life for seniors, the aim was to create a home where the senior residents can spend a rich time and live a rich life while restoring nature. [Solution] To solve the problem, the interior space was finished with light-toned white sycamore veneer to create a warm shared space. The height of the built-in washbasin was set lower than usual to suit the seniors, and the corners and edges were chamfered with a radius. The floor finishing was narrowed to avoid creating steps in the stone veneer, carpet, and flooring, and the joint width was narrowed to prevent people from tripping on steps, concept design a safe and friendly environment for seniors. The artwork was also selected based on the former quarry site and the Kamo River, and local crushed stone was used, and artwork expressing the charm of the Kamo River was installed to allow people to feel the local climate and culture. <Our project members> [Sales and project management] Naoki Murata [design, layout] Common area concept design and supervision: Michio Matsuzaki / Artwork coordination: Misa Sanjoba, Wataru Tajiri [Production and construction] Masato Takeuchi, Shusuke Hoshino, Keiichi Yamazaki, Shogo Yasunaga

The Hotel Seiryu Kyoto Kiyomizu

The Hotel Seiryu Kyoto Kiyomizu

This project involved converting the old Kiyomizu Elementary School building, which has a history of about 90 years and remains in Kiyomizu, Kyoto, into a hotel. It has been reborn as a hotel that combines modern comfort while retaining its distinctive design. We were in charge of architectural design supervision, interiors design, layout, and FF&E concept design and construction. Kiyomizu Elementary School is one of the schools that has been evaluated as a unique building with unique features in its location, exterior decoration, and interiors concept design. Based on the hotel's concept of "engraving memories and connecting them to the future," we paid the utmost respect to the historical Western architecture and its interior space, and concept design to revive memories while preserving and inheriting them. In addition, we fused the architecture and interior space as new functions to express nostalgia and newness. [Client's Issues/Requests] It was necessary to design it so that it would function as a hotel while making use of the architecture of the existing historic elementary school. We also had to have repeated discussions about what kind of hotel would be acceptable to the Kyoto area. [Solution] We worked with creators on every detail, including architecture, landscape, interior, FF&E, artwork, graphics, and uniforms, to create a completely new and unique space. While the corridors and staircases where elementary school children once ran around have been preserved, when you open the doors to the classrooms where the children once studied, you will enter a completely different contemporary world. In order to maximize the value of the existing details that are valuable in the history of the architecture and interior space, we stuck to materials that do not overshadow but highlight them. The reflection of the materials reflected in the semi-gloss finish enhances the existing architectural design. We aimed to create a spatial composition with a "seeming" that can only be experienced here, by coordinating the total design of concept design, graphics, uniforms, etc., and harmonizing the interiors and FF&E concept design in a well-balanced way. <Our project members> [Sales/Project management] Toru Moenuki [design, layout / design supervision] A.N.D.: Ryu Kosaka, Shohei Urata, Hiroki Yasuda / Hiroyuki Nishikawa [FF&E concept design] A.N.D.: Kaori Sano

Kiraku Kyoto Honmachi

Kiraku Kyoto Honmachi

Based on the concept of "Road to Wazuka," a place that makes people want to visit Wazuka Town, a famous tea-producing region located an hour from Kyoto City, we renovated a Kyoto machiya (traditional Japanese townhouse) over 70 years old, located within a 10-minute drive from Kyoto Station, into a rental accommodation facility. Our company was involved in the machiya renovation project from the planning stage and was responsible for spatial production. The project aims to create a new spatial initiative to "drive visitors from urban areas to rural areas," and the various methods used to achieve this ultimately differentiated the property from other Kyoto machiya accommodation facilities. This opening project was carried out in collaboration with a team consisting of NAZUNA, which operates the machiya accommodation; Kiraku Japan, which provides financial support for the renovation of traditional houses; Crowd Realty, a real estate crowdfunding company; and our company, which handles planning and concept design. The start-up capital was raised through crowdfunding. Individual investors and participating companies who share the concept of "Road to Wazuka," who want to contribute to the town and promote Japanese culture to the world, are working together to solve local issues. <Our project team> [Space production]: Yasutoshi Yamano [concept design (interiors)]: Takaaki Tani [Furniture and decoration coordination]: Saki Ninomiya [Development]: Nobuyuki Yagi [Sales]: Yuji Takataka [Customer's challenges/requests] (1) The client wanted to renovate a Kyoto machiya into a lodging facility primarily targeting foreign tourists. (2) The client wanted to create a story-driven concept that differentiates it from the many Kyoto machiya found in the city. (3) The owner of a cafe serving Wazuka tea on the same premises wanted to promote the charms of Wazuka Town. [Solution] The facility was designed to make guests want to visit Wazuka Town. The bedroom, featuring rocks and dry landscape gardens inspired by the town's scenery, allows guests to experience sleeping on the earth of Wazuka Town. The tea stand on the second floor was created using a remade tea box that was used in Wazuka Town, allowing guests to touch the real thing. Additionally, the wall graphics on the second floor are based on the patterns that were affixed to the wooden boxes used to export tea from Wazuka Town, and the fabric is Nishijin-ori fabric from Kyoto. The lighting in the open-ceiling space is also made from the blackout sheeting used in the production of kabuse tea in Wazuka Town. The space was designed as a "lodging-style antenna shop that motivates guests to visit undiscovered, fascinating places." We also prepared illustrated instructions to communicate the features of the space to guests, and even created software to help them understand how to experience it. [Customer Feedback] We believe that the concept and high level of concept design proposed by NOMURA Co.,Ltd. resonated with investors in this project, leading to the realization of an unprecedented lodging facility.

Kiraku Obi Aiyatei

Kiraku Obi Aiyatei

[Project Description] This project involves converting an old house located in Obi, Nichinan City, Miyazaki Prefecture, into a lodging facility. Obi was designated the first Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings in Kyushu and Okinawa in 1977, and is an area lined with buildings with a uniform aesthetic. Therefore, the exterior design needed to be renovated while maintaining harmony with the surrounding landscape. Therefore, we aimed to create a facility that would attract visitors by highlighting the interior design and furniture with a high degree of concept design freedom. Furthermore, Nichinan City and NOMURA Co.,Ltd. signed a comprehensive partnership agreement on January 28, 2017, to realize urban development in line with Nichinan City's "Creator, Creator" concept. As part of the partnership agreement, on October 10, 2018, they signed a "Regional Revitalization Corporate Exchange Program," dispatching Yasutoshi Yamano, a creative talent specializing in space production, to Nichinan City to work on regional revitalization. Working with Nichinan City, related businesses, and various other stakeholders, we are working to revitalize the region through initiatives such as the creation of the "Nichinan City Obi District Revitalization Guidelines," the "DENKEN WEEK" event aimed at developing the historic townscape, and the design of traditional Japanese houses. [Client Challenges/Requests] (1) Renovating the traditional house into a lodging facility primarily targeting foreign tourists. (2) Incorporating unique local elements as a strength of the lodging business. (3) Creating a space that evokes a truly Japanese atmosphere. [Solution] Traditional houses are one of the spaces that most encapsulate Japanese culture, or "way of life." This renovation plan sought to maximize the use of elements that convey the past, such as pillars, beams, and ceilings, while transforming other elements into a space that is comfortable for modern residents. Therefore, we adopted the overall concept of "Post-Heritage: Inheritance and Transformation for the Next Generation," exploring new ways of passing on culture. The selection of tools was also consistent, incorporating a variety of approaches that weave together the essence of Japan, rather than relying solely on traditional techniques. As a result, we believe that this accommodation facility will provide an inspiring experience that will spark an interest in Japan for foreign visitors and make domestic tourists proud of Japan. <Our project members> [Space production] Yamano Yasutoshi [Furniture and decoration coordination] Yamano Yasutoshi [concept design (interiors)] Kazusaka Yukio [Development] Yagi Nobuyuki [Sales] Shirai Toshiyuki ・Release: Nichinan City, Miyazaki Prefecture and NOMURA Co.,Ltd. sign "Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement on Regional Revitalization" https://www.nomurakougei.co.jp/uploads/news/attachments/1/bd685168ce469eb3f8f63ef2a5fe43c89bbc9af85df83d352763aa2eeb42e9cf.pdf ・Release: Nichinan City, Miyazaki Prefecture and NOMURA Co.,Ltd. sign "Regional Revitalization Corporate Exchange Program" https://www.nomurakougei.co.jp/uploads/news/attachments/1/aa565bf338f37cd539f269b55ea67caf32e4e527800fa28c89557f39ddf51f19.pdf ・Other achievements: DENKEN PJM https://www.nomurakougei.co.jp/achievements/detail/409

Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk guest room and corridor renovation work

Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk guest room and corridor renovation work

[Project Description] A renovation project for 148 rooms on 4 floors and 22 floors of corridors. Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk is a symbolic icon of the Seaside Momochi District, which was selected as one of the 100 best urban landscapes in Japan, and its architectural shape is based on the concept of a "big ship sailing out into Hakata Bay." In this renovation, we also took the comfort of being on a ship and the sea view from the ship as our motif, and imagined how people interact with each other through the connections between people in Hakata Bay, which has been a link between foreign countries since ancient times. We designed the Hilton Fukuoka with the aim of making it a hotel that will be loved by people around the world for a long time, with a shape and composition born from "interaction," a texture that gives the feeling of a "cabin," and the colors of "white sand and green pine" unique to Hakata Bay. [Customer's Issues/Requests] The issue was to concept design the guest rooms flexible for various guests, including business, leisure, inbound, and MICE. The long corridors were required to be concept design in a way that would not give guests a monotonous impression. [Solution] We added a mechanism to the headboards of the guest rooms' beds, moving them to the center so that a single room can be arranged as a twin type or Hollywood twin type in accordance with guest requests. In the corridor, the intersection of gradation lines in the carpet represents the trajectory of a ship, and we have created an impressive concept design that incorporates the colors of the outside scenery into the interior, treating the Hakata Bay side as the sea, the center as the sandy beach, and the city side as the pine forest. <Our project members> [Sales and project management] Yoshimori Masayuki, Abe Noriko [design, layout] Aono Keita, Yokoyama Naoaki, Watanabe Jun [Production and construction] Eda Takayuki, Kanayama Mitsuaki

Akiu Grand Hotel hot spring facility renovation work

Akiu Grand Hotel hot spring facility renovation work

[Project Description] This is a hot spring facility renewal project for the main building of Akiu Grand Hotel in the Akiu Onsen district of Sendai city. Taking full advantage of the excellent location along the Rairaikyo Gorge, we aimed to create a hot spring facility that combines the charm of Akiu Grand Hotel with a modern impression, while giving a sense of unity with Akiu's four seasons and Rairaikyo Gorge. [Customer's Issues/Requests] There is a promenade for tourists between Rairaikyo Gorge and the hotel that stands along the valley, so we needed to find a way to make the hot spring facility invisible from both the promenade and the promenade. We also took care to ensure that the facility can be used safely by three generations, such as by reducing the difference in height between the steps leading up to the baths. The design theme for the men's bath is "Bonten no Yu - A bath of forgetfulness in a Zen-like tranquility where you can concept design the four seasons of Akiu and enjoy a sense of oneness with Rairaikyo Gorge," while the women's bath is "Aihime no Yu - A tranquil modern resort in sympathy with the nature of Rairaikyo Gorge, a bath of beautiful skin where you can truly relax in an extraordinary space." [Solution] When you open the sliding door to the hot spring, guests are greeted by a tranquil atmosphere of hot water gushing forth from a huge natural stone carved like a hand-washing basin, with the natural scenery of Rairaikyo Gorge in the background, like a painting, and in order to further enhance the sense of oneness with nature by reflecting the scenery of the four seasons of Rairaikyo Gorge in the open-air bath, we have created an infinity design so that the edge of the bath is not visible. Additionally, the dividing wall between the men's and women's open-air baths makes use of the huge stones that have been installed there since ancient times, the floor is made of Towada stone with a pale blue-green color that gives a feeling of cleanliness, and the ceiling is made of wood-grain panels that give a modern impression, creating a stylish and high-quality atmosphere. A glass sash that can be opened wide to the left and right is placed in the center of the indoor bath, connecting the inside and outside during good seasons and creating a sense of spaciousness. <Our project members> [Development] Nishibori Masayoshi, Oyama Isao, Sato Mitsuhiro [Sales] Uesugi Hiroyuki [Creative direction] Matsubara Miwa [design, layout] Matsubara Miwa, Takahashi Ryoji, Honda Takeshi [Production and construction] Fukuda Manabu, Takase Masaaki, Aizawa Ken [Architectural supervision] Ueno Hiroshi

The Prince Hakone Lake Ashinoko

The Prince Hakone Lake Ashinoko

[Project Summary] This project renovates the annex guest rooms and the first floor banquet hall at The Prince Hakone Lake Ashinoko into a grill restaurant. The aim was to incorporate the atmosphere of the scenic spot, with its green mountains, clear blue waters of Lake Ashinoko, and Mount Fuji visible on a clear day, into the hotel. [Client's Challenge] We planned the layout of the new open kitchen while utilizing the existing banquet hall on the first floor. The challenge for the guest rooms was to create a new feel while adjusting concept design to retain the existing beds, desks, and waist-high walls. [Solution] As the restaurant is a grill restaurant located on the shores of Lake Ashinoko, we incorporated calm textures into the design, used colors that make the grilled food taste delicious, and created a space that enhances the liveliness of the newly built open kitchen. The guest rooms are based on the concept of "the nature of Hakone and Lake Ashi," and the scenery that spreads along the shores of Lake Ashi in Hakone, such as the sparkling moss, the pretty flowers blooming along the lakeside, the beautiful rows of cedar trees, and the fantastic morning mist, are used as image items in the rooms to create a relaxing space. <Our project members> [Project management and sales] Kogure Masanori, Omomo Kae [design, layout] Taibiji Sachiko, Ogushi Kaori, Nagao Manami, Isoyama Eri, Kazeto Chihiro [construction] Mizuno Tadayasu, Takami Hiroshi
