Nagano City Mashima General Sports Arena (White Ring). How to maintain and utilize the legacy of large-scale national events such as the Olympics and World Expos? This is a major challenge that always plagues host cities. Rather than simply maintaining the legacy, the goal is to create new value and pass it on to the future. In Nagano City, which once celebrated the Winter Olympics, such a project is underway through a joint effort between the public and private sectors.

Delivering "Delight and Passion" to people through space creation—this mission, which has been passed down at NOMURA Co.,Ltd. for over 130 years since its founding, has been reflected in actual manufacturing through the experiential and tacit knowledge of its employees. However, now, an in-house research project has begun to verbalize and systematize that experiential and tacit knowledge and scientifically unravel the meaning of "Delight and Passion." We spoke with Professor Akihiko Tokaji of Toyo University and Professor Midori Sugaya of Shibaura Institute of Technology, who participated in the joint research, and Keita Aono, the project leader, about the research results at this stage.

How do you blend the enjoyment of visitors with the message a company wants to convey? This is a common challenge for many facilities established by companies. We thoroughly discussed what "happiness" means to children and broke it down into a concrete image. We then created a concept that would captivate children. In July 2025, "mirocco," an indoor children's playground planned, designed, and operated by NOMURA Co.,Ltd. Group for approximately 11 years, opened.
