What kind of school will the future be like, a place where children and local adults can gather after school?
Hiraiwa Kuniyasu, founder of the NPO After School, has been working to create a place for children to hang out after school. Nakamura Tomoe and Okabe Aoi of NOMURA Co.,Ltd., whose work involves solving social issues in their local communities, spoke to us about the ingenuity behind their first joint project and what it has revealed about places in society in the future.
生命の森［熱帯雨林］を 知って感じる。人びとが地球環境を考えるきっかけに
市民の身近な動物園として、1985年に開園した千葉市動物公園。園内には開園時から、主に熱帯の動物について学べる動物科学館が併設されていて、国内では先駆的な存在になっている。その動物科学館は、2025年3月、開館40周年を機に館内の展示を一新。学術的なレベルの高さを追い求めながら、まるでテーマパークを思わせるような、熱帯雨林を体感しながら学べる施設へと生まれ変わった。

Rather than using the capabilities of computers primarily for the purposes of efficiency and labor savings, they utilize computers to expand the creativity of creators. Beyond that, new possibilities for "spatial concept design" and "spatial experiences" open up. What exactly does computational concept design involve? We asked them to tell us about the actual process of concept design production.
Thinking about the future of food and agriculture with children
Kubota AgriFront is a unique agricultural learning facility where children can learn about current issues in food and agriculture and come up with multiple solutions together. Despite the theme that tends to be rather serious, the children who participated all seemed to enjoy themselves. Even children who don't know each other quickly become friendly and engrossed in the program. How did this facility come about? We followed the facility from concept creation to operation.
