Balcony by 6th / The Lovers' Lounge

Balcony by 6th / The Lovers' Lounge

The all-day dining restaurant "Balcony by 6th," based on the concept of "a balcony in the city," and the bar lounge "The Lovers' Lounge" for "lovers" have opened on the third floor of Azabudai Hills Tower Plaza. The long-loved "6th by Oriental Hotel" in Yurakucho has been reborn as a comfortable dining space that is more accessible to many people, with the theme of inheriting history and harmonizing with the new city. "Balcony by 6th" has an open and comfortable terrace overlooking the Azabudai Hills area, and a botanical atmosphere, offering a unique view of greenery blending into the city. This all-day dining restaurant with about 200 seats can be used for lunch, cafe, dinner, and bar, and serves Italian-based international cuisine created in an open kitchen. The "classical and oriental" taste reminiscent of "6th by Oriental Hotel" has been reinterpreted. A variety of places have been created by incorporating the elements and colors of the surrounding environment, providing a relaxing place where users can enjoy themselves freely according to the situation. The Lovers' Lounge is a bar lounge for lovers. It is adjacent to Balcony by 6th and is a place of relaxation where you can think and talk about the things you like as much as you like. It is a place to meet before a meal or spend some time after a meal, and you can casually enjoy a glass of carefully selected Japanese whiskey from all over the country and a wide variety of signature cocktails. The interior of the store, where you can enjoy carefully selected cocktails and whiskey in a rare, relaxed space within a commercial facility, also has an antique aspect, as some of the interior was used in 6th by Oriental Hotel.

Seibu Railway's "Toshimaen Station" and "Ikebukuro Station" Renovation

Seibu Railway's "Toshimaen Station" and "Ikebukuro Station" Renovation

This is a renovation project for Seibu Railway's Toshimaen Station and Ikebukuro Station, coinciding with the opening of "Studio Tour Tokyo (Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo – The Making of Harry Potter)," built on the former site of "Toshimaen" amusement park. ■Toshimaen Station Based on the concept of "a station where imagination blends into everyday life," the station building features a simple concept design that evokes a gate connecting the ordinary and the extraordinary, with added elements that allow you to feel the world of magic. The pillars on the platform, station name signs, and vending machines have been renovated with a design based on red, reminiscent of "Hogsmeade Station" leading to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In addition, the see-through LED images on the glass surface at the top of the facade change according to the time of day and season, creating a magical effect that gives a sense of floating. Furthermore, as a legacy of "Toshimaen," which closed in August 2020, model trains, telephone booth sculptures, benches, and sculptures made from trees grown within Toshimaen have been remade to fit a new concept and put displays, making the station a beloved landmark for the local community. ■Ikebukuro Station Inspired by "King's Cross Station" in London, England, the walls of platforms 1 and 2, where trains to Toshimaen mainly depart and arrive, have been remodeled in a brick pattern, and the station signs have also been renovated with a navy base. Based on the concept of "a path leading to a fantasy world," illustrations of wizards and owls have been placed throughout, creating a magical atmosphere and making the station a gateway to a magical world.

SC Business Fair 2024 NOMURA Co.,Ltd. Booth

SC Business Fair 2024 NOMURA Co.,Ltd. Booth

NOMURA Co.,Ltd. Ltd. exhibited a booth at "SC Business Fair 2024," the industry's largest event bringing together shopping center stakeholders. Held at Pacifico Yokohama displays Hall for three days from January 24th to 26th, 2024, Nomura Co., Ltd. not only exhibited a booth but also held a free seminar on the first day of the event. The theme of this year's booth was "Sustainable concept design as Envisioned by NOMURA Co.,Ltd." As part of our social good R&D activities, we are developing a "Sustainable concept design Manners Book" that realizes aesthetic appeal, functionality, and environmental friendliness, and the booth was designed in accordance with the basic principles of the Manners Book. While sustainability initiatives are diversifying, we are also continuing to take on various challenges, such as developing upcycled materials. However, this time, we returned to basic materials that are indispensable for constructing spaces and that we will continue to be deeply involved with in the future, and focused on understanding the characteristics of each material. As basic materials, we used wood, cement, acrylic, copper, and iron, arranging the timbers of each material in a grid pattern while creating undulations in the space, allowing visitors to move around the booth and enjoy conversations. The proportion of each material used was calculated based on the embodied carbon emissions throughout the building's lifecycle, and we made efforts to allow visitors to visually perceive the characteristics of each material. Furthermore, by using clamps (*) instead of screws or adhesives for joining, the materials can be reused, and the amount of waste generated during demolition is drastically reduced, symbolically representing the fundamental concept of contributing to the environment. Our aim was concept design a booth where visitors could think together about future approaches to sustainable concept design, and where they could gain new insights and discoveries while demonstrating responsibility and gratitude for materials. *We are using the dedicated clamps from the "Tsunagi" project, planned and produced by Nikken Sekkei.
