overview

Bridgestone has opened Bridgestone Innovation Park, an innovation center in Kodaira, Tokyo. B-Innovation, the core innovation center, is a facility designed to further promote interaction between people inside and outside the company and to accelerate innovation by linking people's empathy for Bridgestone to co-creation.
We were in charge of the planning, concept design design, environmental direction, and construction operations of the Bridgestone Open Innovation Hub, the entrance to B-Innovation, a place where people can see and touch Bridgestone's core technologies and products to develop their ideas. Bridgestone Open Innovation Hub" (Bridgestone Open Innovation Hub), a place to expand ideas.
We also consulted with Bridgestone to design an operation and space based on behavioral science that would lead people to the kind of mindset they want to achieve.

Issues/requests

As this was meant to be a valuable space for co-creation with visiting partners, the challenge was to design communication within the facility in a way that would allow discussions to be held without losing focus and with an open mind.
We also created a temporary "co-creation base" in a corner of a conference room in Bridgestone's existing building, and as a trial, we held repeated discussions with actual partners to identify communication and operational issues.

solution

We deeply incorporate the insights gained through the trial into the spatial concept design, furniture design, and content design.
We aimed to create a co-creation facility that prioritizes psychological safety and facilitates effective communication in a short amount of time.
Upon entering, visitors are greeted in a space of mirrors and video that stimulates their senses, evoking the image of "creating a new world together with Bridgestone."
On the other hand, displays area is designed to be a bright and open space based on white and wood tones, creating a psychological state where visitors feel comfortable speaking up. Circular tables and features that allow people from both inside and outside the company to naturally gather and engage in conversation are scattered throughout the space.
