National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation's Remote Digital displays "MIRAI-Bit"
overview
MIRAI-Bit is a website that allows users to experience some of the content related to the permanent displays at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan), which reopened in November 2023. This includes "Aging Park," where anyone can experience a simulated aging process; "Nanairo Quest," which focuses on a future where robots and humans live together; and "Planetary Crisis," which deals with the global environment. MIRAI-Bit is also being toured to various locations so that science museums and other institutions across Japan can experience it. Our company was responsible for content creation and the design and construction of displays fixtures for the tour.
Issues/requests
[Visualizing diverse ideas and perspectives]
We want to create a website where not only the limited number of people who visit the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan), but also people in regions far from the museum can experience content based on the latest scientific research. Furthermore, we want to create a space where we can share hints for solving diverse problems by understanding the unique needs and challenges rooted in each region and by learning about a wide range of opinions.
[Accessibility]
We want to provide displays content that can be enjoyed by people in wheelchairs and those with visual or hearing impairments.
[Usability]
We want to provide a space where visitors and non-visitors alike, from children to the elderly, can easily and thoroughly experience displays content.
The above requests were received.
solution
In response to various questions about the future, we supported users in deepening their thoughts through chatting with MIRAI-Bit's original character "AI Bit" equipped with GPT-4, Microsoft's Azure OpenAI Service model, and created a place where users can post their thoughts one step further.
MIRAI-Bit also displays opinions posted in the on-site displays of the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation, allowing you to experience the opinions and perspectives of various people. By repeatedly engaging in dialogue, we have devised ways to incorporate elements such as evolving appearances and ensure continuous access. In addition, we have implemented a sound experience and an easy-to-understand UI and UX so that even people with visual and hearing impairments can enjoy it.
