AIR HUB TOKYO

AIR HUB TOKYO

This experimental facility aims to expand Panasonic's air quality and air conditioning solutions, focusing on three themes: "Challenges in air quality in non-residential spaces," "A place for co-creation with business partners," and "Experiencing the latest prototype that controls the seven elements of air quality." Through this space, visitors can actually experience "wind" and use co-creation and development to promote solutions that meet customer needs. To allow visitors to feel the wind in various locations as part of the air quality and air conditioning solutions, group worksheets, meeting spaces, and private booths are available, enabling visitors to experience "wind" in different situations. The aim is for the use of this facility to promote co-creation and further lead to the practice of a human-centered product development process. [Social Issues/Customer Issues/Requests] In order to expand the scope of air quality and air conditioning solutions, we received a request for a place to more attractively convey the excellent features of the latest products. [Solution] We utilized the glass facade that lets in natural light and constructed the space using materials that evoke natural elements such as wood grain and stone, aiming to create a space that feels more comfortable when combined with the "wind" solution. We have also made efforts to highlight the effectiveness of "wind" as one of the interiors design elements. Furthermore, the air quality and climate control solutions incorporated into each booth and area are not merely for displays, but are designed with careful consideration of layout and zoning to ensure they are easy to use as actual meeting spaces and workspaces. [Customer Feedback] The balanced proposal of materials that evoke natural elements such as wood grain and stone allowed the plants to blend seamlessly into the space when added, creating a well-being-oriented environment that harmonizes with the wind. Our employees also found the layout to be comfortable and easy to use. <Our Project Members> [Sales & Project Management] Nomura Medias: Hikaru Sato [design, layout] Hiroaki Mori [Production & construction] Nomura Medias: Toshiaki Kawabata, Kazuhiro Sano

Kumamoto Castle Tower

Kumamoto Castle Tower

The Kumamoto Earthquake in April 2016 caused damage to the castle tower. In response to people's longing for the castle tower to be restored to its original form, the city of Kumamoto made it a policy to restore the castle tower as soon as possible. The building was completed in March 2021 with the latest earthquake-resistant technology. In the 400 years since the castle was built, the wishes of the people who have repaired the castle each time there has been a repeated disaster have been carried over, and the message from the people of Kumamoto living in the present for the future of the next 100 to 400 years is contained. At displays, we organized themes in chronological order from the basement to the top floor, and created a space that is easy to understand and impressive through the use of models, videos, and wall concept design, as well as the spatial concept design corresponding to the themes. Focusing not on the castle as a whole but on the castle tower, it conveys the history of the castle at the time of its construction, its architectural design, its defensive functions, the development of the castle and the town, and the thoughts and history of the people who have repaired it every time they have suffered disasters. [Social Issues/Customer Issues/Requests] ・ To convey the historical, architectural and spiritual significance of the castle tower, which is a symbol of recovery from the Kumamoto Earthquake. It is also important to communicate that Kumamoto Castle, which has historically suffered from numerous natural disasters, has been revived again after the earthquake. ・ Focusing not on Kumamoto Castle as a whole, but on the castle tower of Kumamoto Castle, sharing roles with the contents of displays of the surrounding facilities, and working for cooperation and complementation. ・ Since there are many restrictions on the preservation environment in the castle tower, basically the actual materials should not be displays, but the historical displays of the castle tower of Kumamoto Castle after the Seinan War should be added. ・ From the perspective of Universal concept design, introduce interactive displays and multilingual audio guides so that a wide range of people can enjoy displays. We received the above request. Solution: With the main focus on the castle tower, we organized the story along a time axis, from the castle's construction to the present, and set themes for each era on each floor. On the first floor is the period of Kato Kiyomasa, who built the castle, and the Hosokawa period, who later became the lord of the domain, the modern period, which experienced a complete fire and reconstruction, and the present day, which is devoted to the Kumamoto earthquake and its restoration. The story is arranged so that you can follow the period from the lower floor to the upper floor. In order to convey the strong will of the people who have repaired the castle tower every time there has been a series of disasters since the Edo period, "I want to restore Kumamoto Castle and pass it on to future generations." the film focuses on the castle tower. In addition, to cater to a wide range of visitors, we planned and realized multilingual audio guides and tactile models of the castle tower. Customer Comments: displays is organized in a way that is easy for anyone to understand and attract interest, such as explanations using models and projection mapping, and multilingual audio guides using title signs and apps, and has been well received by visitors. < our company Project Members > [Development] Masanori Yokoyama [Sales and Project Management] Masanori Yokoyama, Haruka Amano, Anjin Sawada [design, layout] Mitsuyo Ashida, Yuichiro Tsutsumi, Rie Makigara, Nanako Wajun, Yoichi Honda, Naoya Fujiwara [Shaping] Nobuyuki Endo [Production and construction] Yu Ikeya, Yoshikazu Kimura

MID POINT Musashi Kosugi

MID POINT Musashi Kosugi

This project involves "MID POINT Musashi Kosugi" (Nakahara-ku, Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture), newly established in July 2020 by Cosmos Initia Co., Ltd., a member of the Daiwa House Group, as the third installment of their "MID POINT" rental office concept that realizes "living and working in close proximity." Our company was in charge of concept design, schematic design, working drawings, and construction. Located in "Kosugi 3rd Avenue," a multi-purpose complex just a 2-minute walk from Musashi Kosugi Station, it boasts an excellent location for both work and business meetings. In addition to the traditional workspace, the lounge also includes a kitchen equipped with tableware and cooking utensils, making it a space that can be used not only for purely business purposes but also for events held by contract holders. Furthermore, a cafe is attached, which is open to the community and can be used by people who do not have a contract with MID POINT. Our company also handled the following stores.・MID POINT Omori (Opened February 2022) ・MID POINT Shibuya Shinsen (Opened December 2021) ・MID POINT Kawasaki (Opened April 2021) ・MID POINT Meguro Fudomae (Opened November 2018) [Social Issues / Customer Issues / Requests] The request was to secure sufficient office space and rooms while also having a cafe on the first floor and a lounge space that is easy for contract holders to use. [Solution] By consolidating the kitchen and water facilities in the center of the first floor, we increased space efficiency while zoning to secure the maximum number of seats for the cafe and lounge. In addition, by making the kitchen a counter kitchen, concept design separates the cafe and office space while allowing the entire space to be seen. [Customer Feedback] As the third MID POINT location, they upgraded the existing location while also achieving an excellent balance in incorporating a cafe, which was a new initiative. Furthermore, despite the challenging floor plan, they adjusted the layout to ensure a comfortable living space while securing rental income. <Our Project Members> ・MID POINT Musashi-Kosugi [Sales/Project Management] Shima Keita [design, layout] Ni'i Hiroyuki, Miyane Sayaka [Production and construction] Hirano Kentaro [Planning and Operational Advice] Suzuki Saeko, Nomura Naoki ・MID POINT Omori [Sales/Project Management] Kobori Takashi, Shima Keita, Ichikura Mizuki [Planning] Sugimoto Taku [concept design Direction] Kashiwase Hisako, Eto Sayaka ・MID POINT Shibuya-Shinsen [Sales/Project Management] Kobori Takashi, Shima Keita, Ichikura Mizuki [Planning] Sugimoto Taku

Nice Co., Ltd. Head Office Renovation

Nice Co., Ltd. Head Office Renovation

This project involved the renovation of the headquarters of NICE Co., Ltd., Head Office that distributes timber and building materials, to coincide with its 70th anniversary. Our company was selected as the winner of a proposal competition. Based on the concept of "Knowing trees and communicating about wood," we aimed to create a facility that contributes to building a brighter society with wood, by establishing a base where wood specialists can gather and creating a sustainable cycle centered on wood, thereby further revitalizing the distribution of wood. The 1st and 2nd floors, where visitors are welcomed, and the 8th floor, which houses the reception rooms, were considered spaces that can appeal to customers, and were concept design using NICE's original wood products as materials. In the lobby, dynamic wooden columns that extend to the high ceiling of the atrium and vertical blinds made of lace material attached to large glass windows gently block views from the outside world, and scattered glass lamps represent sunlight filtering through trees, creating a welcoming space that makes the most of the large space. On the 7th floor, where employees gather, we have created a meeting room and library corner where employees can enjoyably and spontaneously engage with "trees," making it a craftsman's space where technology can be gathered and accessed. By creating spaces for concentration and spaces that encourage active communication, we have created a flexible spatial configuration that supports the working style of each employee. [Social Issues/Customer Issues/Requests] The specific concept design for this renovation were to create an office environment that symbolizes sustainability, such as "decarbonization and wood utilization," and to share values, as well as improve communication during the COVID-19 pandemic. [Solution] In order to realize the strong desire for wood utilization, we communicated closely with the project manager at Nice Co., Ltd. and the person in charge at their own factory, and proceeded with concept design while deciding on materials and wood colors. In the employee communication area, we intentionally created a spatial configuration without boundaries, and the area is softly divided with furniture such as family restaurant benches and solo desks for focused work, centered around a curved bookshelf. By using an OA floor, we have provided functionality that enables flexible working styles. [Customer Feedback] Thanks to NOMURA Co.,Ltd. 's involvement, we were able to create a sophisticated and tranquil hospitality space reminiscent of a hotel lobby, something we would never have conceived on our own. This time, they used a variety of our company's products and tree species as materials. Where this could have easily resulted in a disjointed impression, they exquisitely harmonized the characteristics of each tree species with the space, realizing a wood-based renovation befitting a company rooted in "wood." We are deeply grateful to NOMURA Co.,Ltd. for their high level concept design and technical expertise. <Our Project Members> [Development] Takuya Kitai [Sales & Project Promotion] Takuya Kitai, Midori Nakayabu, Seishun Yoshii [design, layout] Sachiko Taihiji, Nao Hiura [Production & construction] Ryowa Hirowatari, Nozomi Iwashita, Nohara Kikuchi

Mitaka Memoried Hall

Mitaka Memoried Hall

"A funeral hall that is close to the community" This is a funeral hall in Mitaka City, Tokyo, operated by Memolead Co., Ltd., which provides life support services including weddings and funerals. Our company was in charge of the entire process, from design, layout of the building, interiors, FF&E, and signage to construction. The facility is used to conduct a complete funeral service, consisting of two halls, a purification hall that is used in conjunction with the funeral hall, a mortuary, a bathing room, a waiting room, and a departure and parking space. In response to the surrounding lush green and pleasant residential environment, the concept was "a funeral hall that resonates with the town," "a residence-like appearance with textured finishes," and "an inviting space that continues from the outside to the inside." The building is low-rise with green spaces, and the pilotis and openings allow the community, nature, and light to enter, creating a spatial configuration that blends in with the surrounding environment. In addition, the space is connected from the pilotis to the first-floor entrance and from the stairs to the second-floor foyer, and by drawing light from the second floor to the first floor, the external space is configured to appear as if it is continuous with the interior. interiors and FF&E (Funeral, Funeral, and Etiquette) were concept design with the concept of "an organic space that envelops precious time with the deceased," creating a calm and gentle impression that softly embraces the time that has been woven and accumulated. At the same time, while taking into account the regulations of Mitaka City and explaining to neighbors, we aimed to create a funeral hall that is close to the community in both hardware and software aspects. [Social Issues/Customer Issues/Requests] As the funeral hall is located in a residential area, consideration for the neighbors was consistently required in both hardware and software aspects. In addition, recently, it has become less common to hold wakes and funeral services over two days, with one-day funerals and family funerals being the mainstream, and the number of attendees has also been limited due to the impact of COVID-19, so there was a request for a space concept design that can accommodate short periods and small numbers of people. [Solution] In consideration of the neighbors, the design reduces the sense of oppression by making it low-rise, set back from the road*, and incorporating green space, and by using textured finishes to give it the appearance of a residence, the image of a funeral hall is minimized, and concept design blends in with the surrounding residential environment. The piloti on the first floor is a softly partitioned space, using wire-based greenery and louvers to block the view, rather than concealing it with walls, thus creating a space that embraces the surrounding environment. The facility's activities are felt, and it is a space that can be easily entered during events, so it was planned to be a facility that is recognized and understood by nearby residents. At the same time, while responding to Mitaka City regulations and explaining to neighbors, we aimed to create a "funeral hall that is close to the community" in both hardware and software. As a space concept design that accommodates short periods and small numbers of people, we used organic finishes for interiors and FF&E to create a calm and gentle space, so as not to make it a functional space lacking in warmth. *Setback refers to ensuring a certain distance from the property boundary when constructing a building. <Our Project Members> [Sales/Project Management] Hiroshige Sakimoto [design, layout] NAU: Yoichi Kawakami, Norio Koito, Wataru Sugimoto, Akane Watanabe / Kei Matsuzawa [Signage] Tomomi Ito [Production/ construction] Keita Ide, Ryota Sakurai

Chinese Cuisine Guotai Hotel

Chinese Cuisine Guotai Hotel

Kokutai Hanten, a Chinese restaurant that has long been a beloved tenant in the Kyobashi Dai-ichi Seimei Building in Chuo Ward, Tokyo, has relocated to the Kyobashi Soseikan, the building next door across the intersection, due to the rebuilding of the building, and has reopened after renovations. Facing the Kyobashi intersection and being just a short walk from Kyobashi Station on the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line, it enjoys high recognition and remains a popular Chinese restaurant among locals, used for both everyday meals and business entertaining, just as it was before the relocation. [Social Issues/Customer Issues/Requests] As the relocation was due to the rebuilding of the existing store, the customer requested that the layout, including the number of private rooms and seats, be maintained, given the ease of use of the kitchen and the high demand for banquets at the restaurant. [Solution] While referencing the layout of the existing store, we created a layout plan that was adapted to the new store space, and made improvements to the ease of use to meet the customer's requests. In addition, the relocation transformed the restaurant from one with only the entrance facing the street to a street-level store with two glass sides facing the road. To ensure it is instantly recognizable as a Chinese restaurant, we effectively utilized Chinese latticework to increase customer awareness, enhance visibility inside the store, and create an inviting concept design. Furthermore, we effectively utilized lattice doors to ensure privacy in the private rooms, resolving the conflicting objectives of visibility from the outside and privacy. <Our Project Members> [Sales & Project Management] Haruyasu Niinuma, Keisuke Ogata, Hidehiko Sugihara [design, layout] Toshiyuki Taya [Production & construction] Miyuki Nakamura, Shota Chizaki

Kasai City regional revitalization base facility “sora Kasai” Uzurano Museum

Kasai City regional revitalization base facility “sora Kasai” Uzurano Museum

The approximately 1.2km-long runway remains in Uzurano-cho, Kasai City, are the remains of an airfield built during the war, and many other war relics are scattered around the area, remaining to this day. The Kasai City Regional Revitalization Center "sora Kasai" serves as an exchange hub for touring these relics, and the "Uzurano Museum" within it was created as the centerpiece of a field museum that conveys the historical facts of the war. The basic plan for the facility was awarded to a joint venture of three companies, with Ohba Co., Ltd. and Iruka Design Group Co., Ltd. joining from the design stage, and our company was mainly in charge of the museum displays. Subsequently, we were awarded the contract to produce displays independently, and the period from planning to completion spanned approximately six years. Towards completion, after going through a review committee, we created it together with many people, including Kasai City, local war history researchers who had conducted research for many years, preservation societies, supervising professors, and a company that produced full-scale airplane models. This museum, built on the runway, centers around displays two full-scale airplane models deeply connected to this area, while also introducing the short but rich history of Unono Airfield. We aimed to create a museum unique to Unono, one that makes the most of the story and unique location of this place. The mission of this museum is to weave together the memories of this place, preserve them in tangible form, and pass them on to future generations. We hope it will become a place to reflect on peace and connect people.

Central Square Yebisu Garden Place

Central Square Yebisu Garden Place

Mitsukoshi Ebisu, which operated in the commercial building of Ebisu Garden Place, has closed its doors and been reborn as "Center Plaza." Ahead of the grand opening in the fall of 2022, "Foodies Garden" was established on the B2 floor, and the flagship store "Central Square Ebisu Garden Place" opened in one corner of it. Our company supported everything from leasing to store concept design, interiors construction, and production of product display fixtures leading up to the opening of "Foodies Garden." [Social Issues/Customer Issues/Requests] Life Corporation requested that, in preparation for the opening of their flagship store Central Square, they create an even more attractive store while incorporating the essence unique to Ebisu, the location of the store, and following the Central Square brand. [Solution] In concept design of the store facade, we incorporated a "brick wall" inspired by the historical motifs of Ebisu, such as the beer factory and the train station, and utilized materials that evoke the history of Ebisu to create a dignified facade concept design befitting a flagship store. The store's interior concept design utilizes the graphic and sign concept design formats used at Central Square, following the image of Central Square while creating a store unique to Ebisu and integrating it with Central Square's VI (*).
