Marunouchi Street Park 2021 Winter

"Marunouchi Street Park," which started in 2019, is a social experiment project that examines the future direction and utilization of Marunouchi Nakadori Street.
For the winter season, we adopted the spatial concept of "Let's have a great winter street," creating scenes in three blocks spanning approximately 300 meters, where visitors can enjoy illuminations and feel the warmth with all their senses.

Block 1 is themed "Wonder Dining!" and features a glass house where you can enjoy meals while admiring the illuminations, as well as playful areas such as tree hammocks and a giant chess set.
Block 2, themed "Wonder Lounge!", centers around a two-story hut that serves as both an information center and a shop. It also features a postbox with a simulated flame for mailing purchased Christmas cards, a billiard table that can be enjoyed under illuminations, and a scene where visitors can relax warmly in a fire pit while enjoying a street piano.
Block 3, themed "Wonder Terrace!", features a "Corridor of Light" covered in mirrors and an "Artist in Fire Terrace" where artists can create their work around a fake fireplace.

Our company is hosting "Illumination Tour for the Visually Impaired 2021 Winter."
This tour is themed around "dialogue" and is a walking tour designed to provide a truly comfortable and inviting experience for everyone.
We aimed to create a program where visually impaired individuals, escorted by volunteer staff, could enjoy three blocks (approximately 300m in total length) of Nakadori Street, which is beautifully illuminated in winter, through heartwarming conversations.

During the "Marunouchi Street Park 2021 Summer" event (August-September), we observed use by visually impaired individuals. Therefore, we conducted interviews with people who were born visually impaired, and received responses such as: "The places I want to go are places I've been to before and enjoyed," "The first step is always nerve-wracking when going to a new place," "I didn't know Marunouchi had a park," and "Because I can't see, I use my imagination to enjoy things."
Therefore, we decided to implement this tour with the hope that by providing clear information for the visually impaired and offering reassuring support, we could convey the charm of Marunouchi in a kind and thorough manner, making people want to visit again and grow to love Marunouchi Nakadori even more. And that this could serve as an opportunity for "everyone" to "feel the seasons, connect with others, and spend time together."
