Founded in 1979, Hour Glass is an international luxury watch specialty store with 29 stores in 10 cities, mainly in Asia, and boasts an outstanding selection of over 50 of the world's finest brands. The Ginza store, which opened in 2002, always has a wide selection of carefully selected watches, and is a store where you can take your time choosing a watch while sipping a glass of champagne at the bar counter or relaxing on a comfortable sofa, enjoying conversation with the knowledgeable staff.
In 2021, we underwent a grand renovation, boldly installing an iconic bar counter in the center of the store and redesigning the interior to place even greater emphasis on interaction with customers, thereby creating added value that encourages people to visit our physical store.
Inspired by the shop's name, "HOUR GLASS," we concept design the space by selecting stones with a distinctive curve and creating custom-made lighting. Using custom-made materials that utilize traditional Japanese craftsmanship, and other materials with meticulous attention to appearance and texture, we built a space where a refined atmosphere and dialogue can be fostered by building upon each and every detail.
Issues/requests
The challenge was to ensure that the store had a high-quality, luxurious feel as a store that handles the world's most luxurious brands, and also to think about how to create added value for customers visiting a physical store during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a store that handles luxury watches, which are the culmination of materials and techniques, we have strived to create a high-quality and sophisticated space by using carefully selected concept design from around the world and employing the skills of master craftsmen in interiors design.
In a prime location in Ginza, we deliberately reduced the valuable product display area and placed a bar counter in the center where customers can interact with staff. By creating a space where customers can leisurely choose a watch while enjoying conversations with our sophisticated and knowledgeable staff, we have created added value that encourages them to visit our physical store.
Customer's voice
Despite being a watch shop, they incorporated innovative ideas such as a bar counter in the center of the store, concept design on the marble wall at the back featuring a pattern resembling our company's iconic hourglass, and custom-made door panels by a Kanazawa gold leaf craftsman, demonstrating attention to detail throughout the space.
We are extremely satisfied with the high quality of the finished product. Thanks to your concept design work, our store has been transformed into a sophisticated and refined space, providing a comfortable environment where watch enthusiasts can enjoy leisurely discussions about watches.
