The Tama Rokuto Science Museum opened in 1994, underwent its first displays renovation in 2001, and its second renewal in March 2013. The 2013 renewal leveraged the double benefit of having the same person as both displays designer and designated manager, incorporating feedback from the museum's on-site staff into the refinement process by NOMURA Co.,Ltd. 's planners and designers. While retaining existing displays, displays rooms were completely transformed, creating a user-friendly and manageable environment for the museum's frontline staff. Key features of displays design include the inclusion of three distinct areas in each exhibition room: a "laboratory" experience space where visitors can deepen their scientific learning through communication with staff; a "connecting spot" for information dissemination in collaboration with local talent, businesses, and academic institutions; and a "kids' space" to foster intergenerational exchange. These features ensure that displays displays remains "people-centered" and "continuously growing and evolving."
