Kunio Yanagita's "Tono Monogatari", written by Kunio Yanagita, who was moved by the mysterious stories handed down from generation to generation in the village forests of Iwate, opens the eyes of Japanese folklore and still excites the imagination of people today. Now, 100 years after its publication, the museum has been revitalized with the aim of revisiting Tono with "Tono Monogatari" as the axis and building a new traditional culture. The story of Tono's creation unraveled from "Tono Monogatari", and the depiction of the people's activities and climate that became the soil of the stories captured by contemporary artists who are fascinated by "Tono Monogatari" reveal the mysterious power of this land. Projected in displays space, it creates an opportunity for each and every visitor to develop a new “Tono story”.
