Meiji Park

Meiji Park

Meiji Park is the first metropolitan park to utilize the public installation and management system (Park-PFI) under the Urban Parks Act, and opened in October 2023. The project site is approximately 1.6 hectares of the front yard space of the National Stadium, and the new park is being developed, managed, and operated by Tokyo Legacy Parks Co., Ltd., a consortium of six companies, of which Tokyo Tatemono is the representative constituent organization. We were consulted by Tokyo Tatemono in 2021 and were responsible for the overall planning direction and architectural design supervision. We discussed with the client how to create a new park that embodies the concept of "creating a park that will become a legacy of the city of Tokyo that we can be proud of in the world," and were involved in creating a new park life that meets diverse needs such as well-being and diversity. The park has three plazas, including the approximately 1,000 m2 lawn plaza "Hope Plaza" and the "Michi Plaza" that incorporates a waterscape based on the Shibuya River, as well as the approximately 7,500 m2 wooded area "Pride Forest." Additionally, five retail buildings, which were selected through public competition, have been placed in the park to improve convenience for park users and create a lively atmosphere. Currently, each building is home to cafes, relaxation facilities, restaurants, outdoor activity shops, and more. We were also in charge of the business planning and construction (excluding the sauna area) of the first store of "TOTOPA," an urban spa facility newly developed by the Tokyo Tatemono Group*. Located on the second and third floors of store building A, it features a sauna, a cold bath with a depth of approximately 160 cm, a fitness area, various lounges, and more. *Operator and developer: Tokyo Tatemono, operation: Tokyo Tatemono Resorts

Hamamatsu Science Museum Miraira

Hamamatsu Science Museum Miraira

Renewal of the Science Museum due to the aging of the existing Science Museum facilities and displays items. We received a proposal based on the DBO* method, which integrates design, construction, and operation, and completed construction in a short period of about one and a half years from schematic design. With the main goal of providing active learning-type learning, we are planning displays based on the basic policy of experiential stories that lead to deep learning through spontaneous action by inducing interest from experience. Zoned under six themes of nature, power, sound, light, space, and new technology, the displays space is equipped with more than 100 new science experience devices, almost all of which are centered on the large centerpiece displays, which symbolizes each zone that can be attended by a large number of people. With the cooperation of Hamamatsu's leading companies, we have developed displays to stimulate interest in local industries throughout the building. In addition, we have introduced the world's first scientific information learning system (app) equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) for science museums, realizing a new way of communication concept design that expands interest and knowledge through dialogue. In addition to the displays rooms, we have also renovated the welcome displays at the entrance with art by local artist Yasuhiro Suzuki, the Kids Science Land, a café, a shop, and an outdoor science park to make it concept design a comfortable place not only for children but also for adults, while incorporating the elements of a science museum. * DBO method (Design, Build, Operate): A method of public-private partnership in which design, construction, maintenance, and operation are comprehensively ordered to private companies.

Saga Prefectural Space Science Museum《Yumeginga》

Saga Prefectural Space Science Museum《Yumeginga》

The Saga Prefectural Space Science Museum "Yumeginga" was established in 1999 as a communication facility that connects people and science. Since 2006, we have been the representative of the "designated manager" and are currently jointly managing it with Mavec Co., Ltd. The concept is "to develop children's scientific minds," "to convey the wonder of discovery and creation," and "to discover and recognize a comprehensive understanding of the universe, the Earth, and Saga, and their relationship with oneself." In addition to displays that enhance learning, we planned topical displays that can be enjoyed by tourists and disseminated nationwide. This facility has three zones: the "Saga Discovery Zone," the "Earth Discovery Zone," and the "Space Discovery Zone," and our company was in charge of all the zones when the museum opened. After a full renovation of the "Earth Discovery Zone" in the quarter century since its opening, we fully renovated the "Space Discovery Zone" in 2024. The concept of the renovation of the "Space Discovery Zone," where there are as many exciting things in space as there are stars, is "a long journey into space." The two perspectives of space science, which seeks to understand what the universe is, and space activities, which are humanity's attempt to pioneer the universe, are linked under the theme of "life." The displays space depicts on a grand scale where our life originates, where it is headed, and how it is related to the universe. We also aimed to create displays experience that makes visitors feel closer to the universe and broadens their perspective, leading to two existing zones on another floor.
