Saga Prefectural Space Science Museum《Yumeginga》
The Saga Prefectural Space Science Museum "Yumeginga" was established in 1999 as a communication facility that connects people and science. Our company has been the representative of the "designated manager" since 2006, and currently operates it jointly with Mavec Co., Ltd.
The concept is to "nurture children's scientific minds," "communicate the wonder of discovery and creation," and "discover and recognize a comprehensive understanding of the universe, the Earth, and Saga, and their relationship to oneself."
In addition to displays that enhance educational value, we also planned topical displays that would appeal to tourists and be shared nationwide. This facility has three zones: "Saga Discovery Zone," "Earth Discovery Zone," and "Space Discovery Zone," and our company was in charge of all zones when the facility opened.
In the quarter century since its opening, the "Earth Discovery Zone" has undergone a complete renovation, and in 2024 the "Space Discovery Zone" will undergo a complete renovation.
There is as much excitement in the universe as there are stars
The renewed concept of the "Space Discovery Zone" is "A long journey into space." It combines two perspectives, space science, which seeks to understand what the universe is, and space activities, which are humanity's attempt to explore the universe, with the theme of "life."
The entire displays space depicts on a grand scale the question of where our lives originate from, where they are headed, and how they relate to the universe. We also aimed to create displays experience that makes visitors feel closer to the universe and broadens their perspective, leading to two existing zones on different floors.
For the complete renovation of the "Space Discovery Zone" in 2024, we received a request to create an environment that promotes programs that familiarize visitors with science using "space" as a starting point, thereby creating a facility that will increase interest in space, Earth, and Saga, as well as scientific interest, among children and other visitors, and further contribute to increasing their motivation to learn.
Aiming for displays that connects space to Earth and then to Saga, new panels that are conscious of the connections were installed in the existing zones to create a sense of unity throughout the museum. In addition, by providing various space-related experience content and conveying the latest research results in an easy-to-understand manner, we aimed to stimulate intellectual curiosity and increase interest in space in visitors of all ages.
