Sharp Yao Office "Yao Daiichi Shokudo Isshoku"

Our company was responsible for the planning, design, layout, and construction of "Yao Daiichi Shokudo Isshoku," an employee cafeteria that opened on November 1, 2021, at Sharp Corporation's (hereinafter: Sharp) Yao Plant.
In proposing the project, we focused not just on creating a stylish space, but on "a proposal that only Nomura could make." We proposed a cafeteria that would serve as an internal branding space where people could discover "SHARP's essence" across organizational boundaries and generations, while also being an external branding space that clients and affiliated companies visiting our company could experience.

We created three zones: lunch, work, and salon. We designed the space not only as an employee cafeteria, but also as a place to relax, hold meetings with internal and external guests, and foster connections and communication among people.
A single red line (Sharp Red) runs through the cafeteria, representing Sharp's history to date and its future.
For this project, we concept design the Yao Plant, which has a history of approximately 65 years as a production base for white goods, to retain its distinctive features while also ensuring hygiene. Furthermore, by utilizing the mezzanine level, which was previously used for the production lines, as an displays space for SHARP's iconic historical products, we also implemented an SDG-oriented approach by reducing waste and removal costs.


[Social Issues / Customer Issues / Requests]
We received a request to create a space that would revitalize internal connections, as communication between business units was weak.


[Solution]
We proposed using the space not just as a place to eat, but also as a place to work and relax. Furthermore, we suggested displays past products as a place where employees can engage in more active communication and experience and discover Sharp's history.
