overview

Nomura was in charge of planning, design, layout and construction for the Yao Daiichi Shokudo Isshoku, an employee cafeteria that opened on November 1, 2021, at the Yao Works of Sharp Corporation (hereinafter referred to as Sharp).
In planning and proposing the cafeteria, we were conscious of "a proposal that only Nomura can make," rather than simply a fashionable space, and we wanted the cafeteria to be a place for inner branding that transcends organizational boundaries and generations to discover "the SHARP character," and at the same time, a place where visitors from business partners and affiliated companies can experience the "Sharp spirit. At the same time, we proposed the cafeteria as a place for outer branding, where visitors to the company's clients and affiliated companies can also experience the SHARP brand.

The cafeteria is zoned into three sections: lunch, work, and salon, and is designed not only as a company cafeteria, but also as a place where people can relax, have meetings with guests from inside and outside the company, and connect and communicate with each other.
A single red line (Sharp Red) running through the cafeteria expresses Sharp's past history and future.
The Yao Works has spun out a history as a production base for white goods for about 65 years, and for this project, we came up with concept design that can guarantee hygiene while preserving its characteristics. The mezzanine floor used for the manufacturing line of production products was used as displays space for SHARP's symbolic products of the past to reduce waste and removal costs from an SDG perspective.

Social Issues/Customer Issues/Requests
The client requested that we create a space that would help activate internal connections, as communication between business divisions is weak.

Solution
We proposed a space that could be used as a "place to work" and a "place to relax," not just a place to eat. We also proposed displays, a product from the past, as a place where "communication between employees can be activated and where they can feel and discover Sharp's history.
