Kanda Myojin Cultural Exchange Center "EDOCCO"

Kanda Myojin Cultural Exchange Center "EDOCCO"

Kanda Myojin Cultural Exchange Center "EDOCCO", which we produced comprehensively from concept creation to opening, is a facility that inherits tradition and creates new culture under the concept of "tradition x innovation". It is an unprecedented complex facility with 4 floors above ground and 1 floor below ground, including the function of a shrine's shrine amulet giving office. The multi-purpose hall is the main axis, and the facility operates 365 days a year, hosting corporate presentations and displays on weekdays and a live music venue on weekends. In addition, the Japanese culture experience, which focuses on protecting traditional performing arts and traditional crafts, targets inbound tourists. The facility incorporates mechanisms to improve visitor satisfaction, such as the introduction of merchandise sales and cafe services that are enjoyed by visitors while promoting regional cooperation. [Issues/Themes] In the future, 20 years from now, there are two issues: 40% of temples and shrines are in danger of disappearing due to the impact of the declining birthrate and aging population, and the decrease in Shinto weddings. This project was started in response to the desire to increase the number of worshippers at shrines in the future. [Solution] This facility, which combines a multi-purpose hall and a Japanese culture experience studio, was born from a plan to inject marketing ideas into the shrine and attract demographics that had not previously visited the shrine (young people and inbound tourists). The facility is bustling every day, with three target groups of visitors: business people, young people, and inbound tourists. <Our project members> [Producer] Sakazume Kenichi [Sales] Yamaguchi Seiji, Inami Tsuyoshi, Kawata Motoo [Planning] Kobayashi Keita, Watanabe Yoshiko [concept design] Onishi Ryo, Okuyama Eri, Kazuyoshi Nanako, Sasai Ayumu [Production] Takahara Shigeyoshi, Endo Jun, Kimura Hiroki ~Related links~ [News release] ・Kanda Myojin Cultural Exchange Center "EDOCCO" is produced by NOMURA Chief Planner Sakazume Kenichi, with designer Onishi Ryo in charge of interiors design ・Announcement of "Suzuki Toshio and Ghibli Exhibition" to be held at Kanda Myojin Cultural Exchange Center "EDOCCO" [Media coverage] ・2019.04.09 "Nikkei ESG" May issue ・2019.02.19 "Nikkei Business Daily" ・2019.02.18 "Nikkei Business Daily"・2019.02.06 "Hata Lab"

Kiraku Kyoto Honmachi

Kiraku Kyoto Honmachi

Based on the concept of "Road to Wazuka," a place that makes you want to visit Wazuka-cho, a famous tea producing area located an hour from Kyoto City, we renovated a Kyoto machiya townhouse that is over 70 years old and located within a 10-minute drive from Kyoto Station into a rental accommodation facility. Our company participated in the townhouse renovation from the planning stage and was in charge of spatial production. We are challenging ourselves with a new spatial attempt to "send customers from the city center to the countryside," and each method used to achieve this ultimately became a differentiating factor from other Kyoto machiya accommodation facilities. This opening project was carried out by a team consisting of "NAZUNA," which operates the accommodation using the townhouse, "Kiraku Japan," which supports the financial aspects of old house renovation, "Crowd Realty," which provides real estate crowdfunding, and our company, which handles planning and concept design. In addition, the start-up funds were raised through crowdfunding. Individual investors and participating companies who sympathize with the concept of "Road to Wazuka," want to contribute to the town, and want to make Japanese culture known to the world, are working together to solve local issues. <Our project members> [Space production] Yasutoshi Yamano [concept design (interiors)] Takaaki Tani [Furniture and decoration coordination] Saki Ninomiya [Development] Nobuyuki Yagi [Sales] Yuji Takataka [Customer's issues/requests] (1) We want to renovate the Kyomachiya into a lodging facility mainly targeting foreign tourists. (2) We want to make a story-based concept that is different from the many Kyomachiya in the city. (3) The owner of a cafe that serves Wazuka tea on the same premises wants to promote the charm of Wazuka-cho. [Solution] We have prepared a mechanism within the facility that will make you want to visit Wazuka-cho. The rock and dry landscape bedroom, which is based on the scenery of Wazuka-cho, gives you the experience of sleeping on the earth of Wazuka-cho. The tea stand on the second floor was created by remaking a tea box used in Wazuka-cho, and you can touch the real thing. The wall graphics on the second floor are based on the pattern that was affixed to the wooden boxes used to export tea from Wazuka-cho overseas at the time, and the fabric is Nishijin-ori from Kyoto. The lighting in the atrium space is also made from the blackout sheeting used in the process of producing kabuse tea in Wazuka-cho. The space was designed as an "accommodation antenna shop that fosters motivation to visit unseen and attractive places." In addition, we prepared illustrated instructions to convey the mechanisms incorporated in the space to guests, and even created software to help them understand how to experience it. [Customer feedback] We feel that the concept and high level of concept design proposed by NOMURA resonated with the investors in this project, leading to the realization of an unprecedented lodging facility.

Shiga Prefectural Lake Biwa Museum Phase 2 Renewal

Shiga Prefectural Lake Biwa Museum Phase 2 Renewal

The second phase of renovation work at Lake Biwa Museum, Shiga Prefecture, included the establishment of a new "Adult Discovery" and the renovation of the "Discovery Room," restaurant, museum shop, atrium, and special displays room. "Adult Discovery" is a learning and exchange space that aims to respond to the inquisitiveness of adults and be used repeatedly, conveying the fun of museums, raising interest in Lake Biwa, and fostering a desire to participate in activities in the community and the museum. There are more than 1,000 specimens of animals, plants, minerals, etc., and the functions and space have been created to encourage activities such as viewing the specimens, selecting and picking them up, observing them under a microscope, researching them in an illustrated book, and asking questions to the curators. There is a corner where you can carefully observe and experience how to sketch the specimens, and an open lab where you can experience museum research and data organization right in front of you. The Discovery Room is an experiential space that serves as the "entrance to the museum," where you can learn and discover through stuffed animals and the five senses. [Customer's Issues/Requests] Shiga Prefectural Lake Biwa Museum opened in 1996 (Heisei 8) with the theme of "Lakes and Humans," and 20 years have passed since then. During this time, investigations, research, and the collection of valuable materials have been carried out through exchanges and collaborations between museum staff and various people outside the museum. The museum was required to communicate these results to more visitors in the form of displays, and to create a system that would lead visitors' interests and curiosity to new developments through exchange activities that utilize the museum. [Solution] We have created an exchange hub that encourages participation, discovery, dialogue, and exchange and nurtures people who will lead the next generation, by establishing the first real intellectual space in Japan that adults can enjoy, "Adult Discovery," a discovery room where you can learn and discover with your five senses, and other facilities. [Customer's Comments] The second phase of renovation has reconstructed the exchange space, enhanced exchange functions, and increased the number of visitors. <Our project members> [Sales and project management] Haruya Miwa [Planning] Taihei Samejima [concept design and planning] Tadashi Yuasa, Kaoru Sone, Rie Morita, Mina Miyagi, Masaaki Mitsunaga, Reiko Kagawa [Sign and graphic concept design] Rie Morita, Mina Miyagi, Yuki Higashihara [Production and construction] Hironari Ota, Yuki Higashihara, Yuka Tabata, Takahiro Nakayama [public relations] Hiroko Yamase, Nobuaki Yabe

Noto Satoyama Satoumi Museum

Noto Satoyama Satoumi Museum

Noto Satoyama Satoumi Museum is a facility where you can experience the rich nature, wisdom of life, and history and culture that have been cultivated in Nanao City. The charm of Satoyama Satoumi, which cannot be grasped in a single way, is not classified as nature, history, or folklore, but is instead captured in a multi-dimensional way by fusing fields. The museum has mechanisms that both adults and children can enjoy, such as a spatial experience surrounded by insects and shellfish specimens, displays that explains the mechanism of fixed net fishing, an experience of lifting Noto winter yellowtail, and a pull-out quiz. In the two-sided theater, a beautiful seasonal video of Nanao draws you into the world of Satoyama Satoumi, depicting the life and growth of a family in a village. At the end of displays room, we asked about the charms and challenges of Satoyama Satoumi, providing an opportunity to think about the reality and future of Satoyama Satoumi. [Customer's Issues/Requests] We received a request to build a museum that creates the future based on the value of 1,300 years of life (nature, history, and culture) in Noto-Rikkoku, and to incorporate the perspectives of a field museum, tourism, citizen collaboration, and local products. [Solution] Satoyama Satoumi is a system that people have nurtured and can coexist sustainably with the nature. We proposed a "Satoyama Satoumi displays" as a comprehensive study by fusing fields and communicating in a multi-dimensional way. We also fostered civic pride by including a tourist introduction in which a curator gives a guided tour of Noto from a researcher's perspective, and videos featuring local residents. Furthermore, rather than displaying traditional crafts and local products from Noto Nanao as products, they are sublimated and expressed as spatial concept design elements. <Our project members> [Sales and project management] Inoue Akihide, Kishida Kyohei [Planning] Kishida Kyohei, Yuasa Tadashi [design, layout] Yuasa Tadashi, Kagawa Reiko [Sign and graphic concept design] Hasegawa Satoko, Yuasa Tadashi [Production and construction] Kameoka Shin, Inoue Yoshito, Shimoide Yoshiyoshi

Hida Space Science Museum Kamioka Lab

Hida Space Science Museum Kamioka Lab

Kamioka-cho, Hida City, Gifu Prefecture, is home to many research centers dedicated to exploring the mysteries of the universe and elementary particles. The Hida Space Science Museum KamiokaLab was opened at the roadside station "Sukai Dome Kamioka" as a place open to all to widely disseminate the appeal of research conducted using experimental equipment hidden 1,000 meters underground in the mountains of Hida, and to create new relationships between science and society. Neutrinos (※1) are mysterious elementary particles that are being researched around the world. The world's largest underground neutrino observation device, Super-Kamiokande (※2), which observes neutrinos, holds the key to unraveling the unsolved mysteries of the universe through neutrino research. KamiokaLab aims to provide a space where visitors can experience the mysterious properties of neutrinos and travel between the macroscopic world of the universe and the microscopic world of neutrinos, away from the everyday. *1: Neutral means neutral, meaning that it has no electric charge, and ino means small (in Italian). It is a mysterious particle and is being studied around the world. *2: Super-Kamiokande: The world's largest underground neutrino observation device operated by the Institute for Cosmic Ray Research, University of Tokyo. In addition to investigating the properties of neutrinos themselves, they are trying to use neutrinos to shed light on the history of the universe. [Customer's Issues/Requests] ・To allow many people to experience Super-Kamiokande, which only about 1,000 people per year visit the general public, at this facility. ・To get many visitors interested in the activities and physics of Super-Kamiokande through the displays. [Solution] ・To allow many visitors to experience and learn through realistic large-screen images and games that are easy for visitors to understand. [Customer's comments] It seems that NOMURA Co.'s planning skills are behind the creation of this attractive facility, despite the lack of curators specializing in the research fields of the exhibits. <Our project members> [Sales and project management] Haruya Miwa [Planning] Katsumi Hara, Kyohei Kishida [design, layout] Koki Mizuno, Tadashi Yuasa [Production and construction] Hayato Ichimata, Nanae Hori, Toshiyuki Suzuki, Katsumi Yamada, Yoshimasa Shimoide

Moominvalley Park

Moominvalley Park

Moomin Valley Park opened in Hanno City, Saitama Prefecture on March 16, 2019. Our company was in charge of the entire park planning, design, production planning, and construction. [Customer's challenge/theme] As this is the world's first permanent Moomin theme park, there was no precedent, so it was necessary to literally get approval from the publisher, Moomin Characters, from scratch on what kind of facility it should be and what kind of attractions would be good. In addition, since the scope of responsibility was wide, a large, well-coordinated team was required. [Solution] The deep understanding of the original work by the promotion members and repeated careful confirmation work with the publisher ultimately led to very high praise from the publisher and smooth approval. In addition, by assigning a promotion team consisting of the entire NOMURA Group, we created a situation where communication was always possible in all areas. [Customer's voice] The promotion members had a deep understanding of the Moomin characters and story, and approached content creation with love, which earned the licensor's trust and made the approval process go smoothly. It has been highly praised by guests as a facility where you can feel the love for characters. <Our project members> [Sales and project management] Shingo Terasaki, Tomohito Kawashima, Mirai Suzuki, Morifumi Nihei, Junichi Manabe, Haruhiko Kako [Planning and design] Masaki Kawahara, Kyosuke Horie, Asafumi Sasa, Sakae Kirioka, Kentaro Yamada, Yoko Suzuki, Masahiro Sugihara, Yuki Handa, Manami Nagao, Eri Isoyama, Satoshi Nakagawa, Hi Oikawa, Noriko Osaki, Kazumi Shimada, Hiroki Toyoda, Rina Saito, Ryosuke Naga [Graphic concept design] Minori Kaneno, Misao Kaneko, Ayaka Hagiya, Mayu Toyoda, Fujie Suzuki [Production and construction] Shunsaku Kimura, Tetsuji Inoue, Chuzo Seki, Kunihiko Hashimoto Nomura Products: Kiyohiko Hoshi, Naoaki Mori, Takeshi Niimi, Kiyomi Naoyuki, Wataru Yoshida [System Engineering] Kenji Suzuki, Isao Yokota Nomura Techno: Katsuji Oguchi, Masahiro Takano [Structural Calculation Work] Kiichi Fujihira

MUFG Bank Osaka Building Gallery Lounge

MUFG Bank Osaka Building Gallery Lounge

[Project Description] This is a development project for a lively facility on the first floor in conjunction with the reconstruction of the Mitsubishi UFJ Bank Osaka Building. Planning began in the spring of 2013, and the building opened in August 2018. A cafe and gallery lounge were introduced with the aim of "creating a lively atmosphere in the surrounding area and the Midosuji area" and "creating a high-quality place as a bank building". The gallery displays paintings and historical materials (currency, currency exchange tools, etc.) owned by the bank, creating a space where you can relax and casually experience art and history. There is also a corner introducing the surrounding famous places and historical sites, and we have made efforts to link it to walking around the surrounding town. During the development, our company is in charge of planning, consulting, design, layout, supervision, production and construction of displays, furniture, fixtures, etc., and we also help with some of the operation after the opening. [Client's Issues/Requests] This project tested NOMURA 's overall capabilities, including the planning and concept design capabilities required to realize the opposing themes of "creating a lively atmosphere" and "creating a high-quality space," as this was the bank's first attempt at creating a lively facility. [Solution] The spatial concept design was based on the concept of "organic structure" + "simple structure," and was a high-quality, timeless, simple concept design. By spatially connecting multiple elements such as a cafe, gallery, local displays, currency displays, ATMs, and a foreign currency exchange corner through a lounge, we aimed to create a facility where people with various purposes could gather in the same space. Furthermore, by being involved in the operation of the facility after it opens, we will continue to be involved in the theme of "creating a lively atmosphere" that has been the theme since the beginning of development. <Our project members> [Development] Motoo Kawata [Project management and sales] Motoo Kawata, Tomohide Nakamura [Planning and consulting] Hiroshi Yoshimoto, Reiko Kuroda, Rie Hasegawa, Nobuaki Yabe, Konomi Taki, Tomoko Takeuchi [design, layout] Masao Nemoto, Masahiro Hisakane [Production and construction] Hironari Ota, Takahiro Nakayama [Operation management] Motoo Kawata Photography: Masato Kono (Nacasa & Partners Co., Ltd.)

Bosch Shibuya Head Office 10F "The NEST"

Bosch Shibuya Head Office 10F "The NEST"

A renovation project for Bosch Corporation's Shibuya headquarters. We were in charge of planning, design, layout, and construction to renovate one floor on the 10th floor into a communication space. From our experience of renovating the 4th floor of our headquarters building into a communication space "RE/SP", we thought it was important to create a mechanism for employees to interact. Based on the concept of "SCRAMBLE for MEET UP" (people gather, hatch new ideas, and then take off again), we designed it with the aim of creating a place where diverse employees can gather and interact on a daily basis. In order to express the mix through encounters and exchanges, just like in Shibuya, where Bosch's headquarters is located, we collaborated with various artists to create a space that allows concept design to interact with an open mind. We also participated in the creation phase, such as logo concept design and event planning and management. [Customer's challenge/theme] We were asked to concept design a place where employees could interact from a different perspective than the office floor, with the aim of revitalizing communication within the company and creating innovation. [Solution] We proposed a spatial configuration that would allow each employee to regain their vitality and deepen their connections. Specifically, with the aim of creating opportunities for communication that transcends age and departmental boundaries, the area has been divided into six major functions, including a counter where people can have casual conversations over a cup of coffee, a place to sit and relax on sofas, and a space to move around and refresh. By proactively incorporating furniture and art that will spark communication, we also aimed to create a place where spontaneous ideas that are difficult to generate in office areas can be born. There is also a product displays that allows people to experience Bosch's DNA, making it a place that provides hints for creating innovation. <Our project members> [Sales and project management] Ishii Kazushige, Murakami Kaori, Shishihori Tomoyo [design, layout] Yamanobe Manabu, Hagiwara Mitsutaka [Planning] Masubuch Kenta [Production and construction] Koike Tetsuji
