This facility, which inherited the philosophy of the Okinawa International Ocean Expo held in 1975, has been reborn as a cultural facility that plays a key role in international exchange in the century of the ocean. In addition to valuable materials from the 1970s, new cultural resources have been created, such as a Micronesian voyaging canoe (the Lien Polowat) and an Okinawan sabani, displays have been completely revamped. Under the theme of "Way finding: traditional navigation," the history and culture of unknown navigators who spread across the Pacific Ocean are conveyed. A total of 20 supervisors and experts were involved in concept design process, ensuring comprehensive promotion.
