overview

This is a sliding, movable kiosk that changes its appearance to suit the location, time, and environment it is placed in around the world.
concept design, which combines kitchen units with various seating units as needed, allows for flexible deployment regardless of the size of the installation space. Its most distinctive feature is that when closed, it blends into its surroundings, and when opened, a café space appears. The mirrored facade reflects the surrounding environment, changing its appearance like a chameleon. As a kiosk unique to % Arabica, which is expanding globally, no matter what country or location the store is in, it is not a complete copy-and-paste concept design, but rather takes on a unique appearance specific to that place. The photo shows the first store to open, located on Ningbo Heyi Avenue, which consists of four units. Its sophisticated appearance blends seamlessly into the environment of the atrium of a high-end shopping facility.
Amidst the recent pandemic, which has prompted us to reconsider the role of cafes, the demand for kiosks where people can enjoy coffee outdoors has increased. Unlike traditional kiosks that simply sell coffee in a stand-up format, this is a new concept store where the unit slides open during business hours to create a semi-outdoor seating area, and seating areas can also be set up around it.

Issues/requests

This project was born as the way restaurants operate is changing during the coronavirus pandemic. With demand for eating and drinking in ventilated areas such as semi-outdoors, and take-away demand increasing, it was time for % Arabica, which operates around the world, to evolve Kisok-style stores that make it easier to enjoy coffee. % Arabica Traveling Chameleon Kiosk does not just sell coffee like traditional Kiosk stores, but instead creates an innovative format that does not lose the space and surrounding communication that is important in a coffee shop. was the challenge. Kiosks can be placed anywhere, so they needed to be spatially versatile and fit in any space.

solution

This concept design employs a system that allows for the combination of units to change the size of the kiosk itself and the seating pattern, and also allows for various spatial configurations depending on how it is opened, such as partially opening it. The mirror facade, which disappears when closed, is symbolic yet coexists beautifully with its surroundings without creating a sense of oppression wherever it is placed. concept design is not complete when the designer creates it, but rather will become a different concept design in each instance as it is deployed around the world, and will continue to change its appearance over time, making it a beautiful concept design.
