To provide guests with the hotel's concept of "experiencing Hokkaido," we planned the ultimate locally sourced hotel, keeping "sustainability" in mind while cherishing the culture and way of thinking that has been valued in this region.

In terms of the exterior, interiors, and structure, we aimed to use materials to the fullest extent, not only by using Hokkaido-sourced timber, stone, and soil as building materials, but also by creating furniture from leftover building material scraps.
Furthermore, some of the furniture in the hotel lounge is made in Asahikawa, a town renowned for its furniture, using wood sourced from Hokkaido. The hotel also collaborates with local producers on regularly held markets and other events, fostering connections between the hotel and the local community in various ways, both in terms of soft and hard aspects.
In the restaurant, we not only use ingredients from Hokkaido (agricultural products, seafood, dairy products, etc.), but also ingredients from producers whose faces we can see. In the guest rooms, we have installed wooden speakers and record players inspired by Sapporo, the city of jazz, and we have incorporated elements such as beautiful photographs of various parts of Hokkaido by five photographers as art, so that guests can deeply experience Hokkaido through all five senses.

The challenge was how to make guests feel how they have come to Hokkaido and how they are staying at Hokkaido's wooden hotel, and how to express it in an easy-to-understand manner.

When concept design the interior, we constantly kept in mind "what is important?" to ensure that guests could take home at least one memorable item, and we carefully selected materials, colors, and shapes accordingly.
To create concept design that resonates with guests, we stripped away everything except what was essential, creating a symbolic space. At the same time, we prioritized striking a balance between the two, ensuring that the space didn't become too austere and compromise its comfortable atmosphere.
