overview

This is a luxury club to open in 2021, in Ginza, one of Japan's leading downtown areas, which has faced headwinds due to the coronavirus pandemic, and is planned to bring vitality and hope for the future.
The store's name is "Arabesque," and the original meaning of the word is "Arabic-style decorative pattern." The song of the same name, derived from this, has a structure in which regular rhythms repeat and the intersections of sounds gradually change. I focused on the arabesque decoration and the meaning contained in the song, and wanted to layer it in the space. First, we incorporated a half-arch, a typical motif of Arabic decoration, which is an arched shape cut in half. Continuing half arches frees us from regular compositions and changes the way they are combined. This half-arch extends from the entrance door to the reception, bar, and hall, and is linked to create the rhythm of a song. The half-arch foreshadows the next connection, gradually changing to bright and gorgeous, connecting the future to something fun. We aimed for concept design that gives such an impression and infuses hope and fresh air.

Issues/requests

In 2021, the city of Ginza was forced into headwinds due to the repeated state of emergency declarations due to the coronavirus pandemic. This project called for using the power of concept design and art to revitalize this city and lead it into a bright future.

solution

Focusing on the arabesque decoration and music that inspired the store's name, the design uses a series of half-arch concept design to create a gorgeous transition from the entrance to the bar and hall, creating concept design that foreshadows a fun future. The lighting inside the store uses color LEDs that change depending on the event, creating a lively atmosphere. In addition, illustrations by artist Hiroshi Tanabe are drawn on the tops of all tables, filling the seating space with glitter and stimulating the sensibilities of guests.
