Toyobo Building

Toyobo Building

This is a renovation project for the Toyobo Building, located along the Dojima River in Osaka, an area brimming with charm thanks to its numerous historical buildings and abundant nature. The Dojima River is a representative river of Osaka, known as the "City of Water," and the aim was to create a space where people can work vibrantly while enjoying the pleasant atmosphere of this location. The plaza features an exterior design that makes it seem as if a riverside deck extends to the building, and a swaying willow tree is placed as a symbolic tree, allowing people to visually feel the river breeze. The facade incorporates concept design inspired by the grandeur of the Dojima River and the density of its waves. The building's exterior walls are wrapped in a soft wave design to harmonize with the building while also aiming to become a new symbol of the city. The lobby lounge's design harmonizes with the facade, creating continuity between the interior and exterior, and comfort is created by employing various types of sofas and original acoustics. In addition, visual art that visualizes the outside environment, such as temperature and wind, is applied to the central pillar, creating an atmosphere where the pleasantness of the river breeze can be felt indoors. Each floor features photographs of the Dojima River, showcasing its diverse expressions, while the restrooms are adorned with original artwork that delicately depicts waves, creating a different color palette on each floor that will surprise visitors.

Panasonic Tsu factory showroom "TRUST FACTORY TSU"

Panasonic Tsu factory showroom "TRUST FACTORY TSU"

This project involved design, layout the showroom at Panasonic Corporation's Tsu Plant, which is the core of its founding business: the production of wiring devices. The aim was to gain further customer trust by allowing visitors to experience and understand the technological capabilities and cutting-edge production system hidden behind the wiring device products in displays room and factory. displays room is composed of sections on "History," "Product Introduction," "Introduction to the Tsu Plant," and "Introduction to Factory Technology and Production Capabilities," and is designed to link with various parts of each building on the site. We considered everything, including the factory tour, as elements that make up the showroom, and aimed to create a "showroom for the entire factory" by making displays room the starting point and connecting to the manufacturing building. [Social Issues/Customer Issues/Requests] In order to build "trust," which is the theme of the facility, with our customers, our role was to embody how to deepen visitors' understanding of the Tsu Plant's technological capabilities, factory production capabilities, and history through experience. [Solution] Under the keyword of "trust," we picked out the strengths of the Tsu Plant that are embodied in the products and created points that would give visitors insights and surprises through displays. displays is designed to allow visitors to deepen their understanding step by step as they progress along the route, connecting each point along the way. We created a space where "trust" with visitors deepens throughout the entire factory experience. <Our Project Members> [Sales & Project Management] Hikaru Sato, Yu Takahashi [design, layout] Hiroaki Mori, Minamo Maeda, Mayumi Shigematsu [Production & construction] Kazuya Fujii, Yu Oishi

Sharp Yao Office "Yao Daiichi Shokudo Isshoku"

Sharp Yao Office "Yao Daiichi Shokudo Isshoku"

Our company was responsible for the planning, design, layout, and construction of "Yao Daiichi Shokudo Isshoku," the employee cafeteria that opened on November 1, 2021, at Sharp Corporation's (hereinafter: Sharp) Yao Plant. In proposing the project, we focused not just on creating a stylish space, but on "a proposal that only Nomura could make," proposing a cafeteria that would serve as an internal branding space where people could discover "SHARP's essence" across organizational boundaries and generations, while also serving as an external branding space that could be experienced by visiting business partners and affiliated companies. We implemented three zoning areas: lunch, work, and salon, and designed the cafeteria not only as an employee cafeteria, but also as a place where people can relax, hold meetings with internal and external guests, and connect and communicate. A single red line (Sharp Red) runs through the cafeteria, representing Sharp's history to date and its future. For this project, we considered concept design that would preserve the characteristics of the Yao Plant, which has a history of approximately 65 years as a production base for white goods, while also ensuring hygiene. Furthermore, by utilizing the mezzanine floor, which was previously used for the production line of manufactured products, as displays space for SHARP's iconic historical products, we also implemented an SDG-oriented initiative that reduced waste and removal costs. [Social Issues/Customer Issues/Requests] We received a request to create a space that would revitalize internal connections, as communication between business divisions was weak. [Solution] We proposed a space that could be used not just as a place to eat, but also as a "place to work" and a "place to relax." We also proposed displays past products as a "place where communication among employees can be revitalized and where they can feel and discover SHARP's history." <Our Project Members> [Sales/Project Management] Yui Takahashi [design, layout] Shota Umetani, Ryo Yamato, Yusuke Nakamura, Ayaka Miura [Production Management] Yoshitsugu Mukoyama ~Related Links~ [Announcement] ・ NOMURA Co.,Ltd. 100th Anniversary Project of the Founding of the Suiheisha: Renewal of the Suiheisha Museum displays

100th Anniversary Project of the Founding of the Suiheisha: Renewal of the Suiheisha Museum displays

This museum tells the history of the Suiheisha, which was the cornerstone of the Buraku liberation movement aiming to establish peace and human rights. This renovation is part of the commemorative project for the 100th anniversary of the founding of the All-Japan Suiheisha, a significant milestone since March 3, 1922. In recent years, there has been an increasing emphasis on human rights, as evidenced by the enactment of the "Human Rights Protection Measures Promotion Act" and the "Ainu New Law," as well as the SDGs and the International Council of Museums (ICOM)'s redefinition of museums. The Suiheisha Declaration, read aloud at the founding convention of the All-Japan Suiheisha, which read, "Let there be passion in the world of man, let there be light for mankind," was the first declaration of human rights in Japan and the first declaration of human rights issued by a discriminated minority in the world. When discussing human rights, the existence of the Suiheisha Museum, a human rights information center established in the birthplace of the Suiheisha, is of great significance. In this renovation, the "Suiheisha Declaration," which became the fundamental spirit of the movement, has been brought into focus once again. In addition, famous quotes from prominent figures, people close to the museum, works of art, and works submitted through public competitions have been collected, bringing inspiration and persuasiveness through the power of words. At the same time, a key feature is its high degree of updateability, allowing for the addition of comments from the general public at any time. In addition, we have incorporated a spirit of respecting diversity and accepting each other's differences into displays.

Nijigen no Mori "Godzilla Interception Operation ~National Godzilla Awajishima Research Center~"

Nijigen no Mori "Godzilla Interception Operation ~National Godzilla Awajishima Research Center~"

The new attraction area "Godzilla Interception Operation ~National Godzilla Awaji Island Research Center~" at the Hyogo Prefectural Awaji Island Park Anime Park "Nijigen no Mori" is the world's only entertainment attraction that truly allows visitors to experience the immense power and intensity of the world's largest, life-sized Godzilla, approximately 120m in length, that landed on Awaji Island*. Our company was in charge of planning, direction, concept design, and sculpting supervision. Participants become members of the National Godzilla Awaji Island Research Center and take on missions such as a thrilling "zipline" that takes them into the body through the mouth of the life-sized Godzilla, and a "shooting game" to annihilate Godzilla cells scattered around. *This is a recreation of the 118.5m long Godzilla that appeared in the movie "Shin Godzilla" (2016), with its upper body, right arm, and tail protruding from the ground. The visible portion of the structure measures approximately 52.6m in length, 25.4m in width, and 23m in height. The attraction area covers approximately 5,000m². [Social Issues/Customer Issues/Requests] This will be Nijigen no Mori's largest project to date, offering a life-sized Godzilla experience. As the overall producer of this project, the challenge for both Toho Co., Ltd., the copyright holder, and Nijigen no Mori Co., Ltd., the operator, was how to provide the highest level of planning, experience, and production quality to create an attraction that the world can be proud of. [Solution] First, we deepened our knowledge of content that has been loved around the world for many years, and combined that with the unique location within Awaji Island Prefectural Park to create a planned experience that would attract visitors not only from Japan but from all over the world. In addition, in supervising the production, we visited overseas factories and directly advised them with the know-how and knowledge we have cultivated, guiding them to final completion. [Customer Feedback] You have planned a highly original attraction that will attract attention from all over the world, where you can jump into a life-sized Godzilla. Furthermore, the production team provided meticulous direction down to the smallest detail, resulting in a product that would satisfy everyone from families to core fans. <Our Project Members> [Sales & Project Management] Shingo Terasaki, Shohei Baba [Planning & Direction, concept design & Sculpting Supervision] Masaki Kawahara, Yasuyuki Chosa, Yuki Toyoda TM & © TOHO CO., LTD.

The Hotel Seiryu Kyoto Kiyomizu

The Hotel Seiryu Kyoto Kiyomizu

This project involved converting the former Kiyomizu Elementary School building, which has a history of approximately 90 years and remains in the Kiyomizu area of Kyoto, into a hotel. While inheriting its distinctive design, it was reborn as a hotel that also possesses modern comforts. Our company was in charge of architectural design supervision, interiors design, layout, and FF&E concept design and construction. Kiyomizu Elementary School is one of the schools that has been recognized for its unique architectural features in its location, exterior decoration, and interiors concept design. Based on the hotel's concept of "etching memories and connecting to the future," we paid the utmost respect to the historical Western architecture and its interior space, creating concept design that revives memories while preserving and passing them on. Furthermore, we fused the architecture and interior space as new functions to express both nostalgia and newness. [Client's Challenges/Requests] It was necessary to design a hotel that would function while making use of the existing historical elementary school building. It was also necessary to have repeated discussions about what kind of hotel would be accepted by the Kyoto community. [Solution] We worked with creators on every detail, from architecture, landscape, interior, FF&E, artwork, graphics, and uniforms, to create a completely new and unique space. While preserving the corridors and staircases where elementary school children once ran around, opening the doors to the classrooms where children studied allows you to step into a completely different, contemporary world. To maximize the value of the existing details that have etched the history of the architecture and interior space, we focused on materials that do not assert themselves but instead highlight the materials themselves. The reflection of the semi-glossy materials further enhances the existing architectural design. We aimed to create a spatial composition based on "reinterpretation" that can only be experienced here, by harmoniously balancing the total concept design coordination of artwork, graphics, uniforms, and interiors and FF&E concept design. <Our Project Members> [Sales/Project Management] Toru Moenuki [design, layout, design supervision] A.N.D.: Ryu Kosaka, Shohei Urata, Hiroki Yasuda / Hiroyuki Nishikawa [FF&E concept design] A.N.D.: Kaori Sano

G20 Osaka Summit 2019 (Public Relations displays): Energy and Innovation

G20 Osaka Summit 2019 (Public Relations displays): Energy and Innovation

The public relations and displays space was set up alongside the G20 summit, which brought 30,000 officials and press from around the world to Osaka. It featured a floating, cutting-edge technology displays area inspired by a futuristic miniature world floating on the sea, a live kitchen reminiscent of street food stalls, and a bright white cultural area expressing hope from reconstruction to the Olympics. The three different areas were seamlessly connected and merged to concept design a new style of presentation that allowed visitors to relax and enjoy present-day Japan. [Social Issues/Client Issues/Requests] The client requested that we express Japan's innovative technologies and ideas that realize a virtuous cycle of environmental conservation and growth, creating a new era that is rich for both people and the planet. [Solution] At the G20 Osaka Summit, we actively implemented waste reduction initiatives based on the concept of "3R" + "Renewable Sustainable Resources," and in the public relations displays, we realized cutting-edge technology and spatial concept design related to the marine plastic waste problem. The displays was structured to show Japan's technologies and initiatives for plastic resource recycling in stages: "Reduce," "Replace," "Reuse," "Recycle," "Collect," and "displays." With concerns that by 2050 the ocean will contain more plastic waste than fish, we created a floor design depicting a beautiful ocean to convey Japan's commitment to protecting this state of the sea. <Our Project Members> [Sales & Project Management] Yuji Hayamizu, Yasuo Ogawa, Shigeyuki Ishiyama [design, layout] Yutaka Hanaoka, Takayuki Kobayashi [Production & construction] Yu Kimura, Yoichi Miura, Yukari Takahashi, Shigeki Ueno, Yuka Tabata, Yuki Higashihara

Kiraku Kyoto Honmachi

Kiraku Kyoto Honmachi

Based on the concept of "Road to Wazuka," a place that makes you want to visit Wazuka Town, a famous tea-producing area located an hour from Kyoto City, we have renovated a Kyoto townhouse over 70 years old, located within a 10-minute drive from Kyoto Station, into a lodging facility available for rent as a whole unit. Our company participated in the townhouse renovation from the planning stage and was in charge of spatial production. We are challenging ourselves with a new spatial endeavor of "sending visitors from the city center to the countryside," and the various methods used to achieve this have ultimately become differentiating factors from other Kyoto townhouse lodging facilities. This opening project was carried out in collaboration with a team consisting of "NAZUNA," which handles the operation of lodging using townhouses, "Kiraku Japan," which provides financial support for the renovation of old houses, "Crowd Realty," which conducts real estate crowdfunding, and our company, which handles planning and concept design. Furthermore, the opening funds were raised through crowdfunding. Individual investors and participating companies who sympathize with the concept of "Road to Wazuka" and have a desire to contribute to the town and introduce Japanese culture to the world are working together to solve regional issues. <Our Project Members> [Space Production] Yasutoshi Yamano [concept design (interiors)] Takaaki Tani [Furniture and Decoration Coordination] Saki Ninomiya [Development] Nobuyuki Yagi [Sales] Yuji Takataka [Client's Challenges/Requests] (1) They want to renovate a Kyoto townhouse into accommodation mainly targeting foreign tourists. (2) They want to leverage a story-driven concept that is different from the many Kyoto townhouses that exist in the city. (3) The owner, who runs a cafe on the same premises that serves Wazuka tea, wants to promote the charm of Wazuka town. [Solution] We have prepared features within the facility that will make people want to visit Wazuka town. The bedroom, which is themed after the scenery of Wazuka town with rocks and a dry landscape garden, allows you to experience what it's like to sleep on the land of Wazuka town. The tea stand on the second floor is made by repurposing a tea box that was used in Wazuka town, allowing you to touch the real thing. Similarly, the wall graphics on the second floor are based on the patterns that were used on wooden boxes when tea was exported from Wazuka Town overseas at the time, and the fabric used is Nishijin-ori from Kyoto. The lighting in the atrium space was also created using light-blocking sheets used in the process of producing kabusecha tea in Wazuka Town. The space was designed as a "lodging-type antenna shop that fosters the motivation to want to go to fascinating places that have not yet been seen." In addition, an illustrated instruction manual was prepared to convey the features incorporated into the space to guests, and software was also created to help guests experience it. [Customer's voice] We feel that the concept and high level of concept design devised by NOMURA Co.,Ltd. resonated with the investors in this project, leading to the realization of an unprecedented lodging facility.
