overview

Tochigi Health Checkup Plaza is a medical facility that relocated and reopened on January 15, 2024, for receiving health checkups (hereinafter referred to as "health checkups") and comprehensive medical examinations.
In today's era, often referred to as the "100-year life era," regular health checkups and comprehensive medical examinations are more important than ever for managing one's health. To fulfill our customers' wish that their annual checkup day be a "rich and special day," we have created a hospitable space from architecture to interior and furniture concept design.
To meet our clients' needs and address a wide range of concept design challenges, we teamed up NAU (now the Architectural Production Department), which excels in total concept design across urban planning and architectural scales, with our interior concept design team, which specializes in the hospitality market, including hotels. By leveraging each other's expertise and concept design comprehensively from architectural to human scales, we created a space that alleviates the psychological anxiety of patients and provides a comfortable and pleasant environment.
With its smart appearance symbolizing a cutting-edge medical facility and a space filled with elegant colors, we aimed to create a facility that would become a symbol of the city, rooted in the community and loved by its residents.

Issues/requests

For many patients, their health checkup comes once a year. Depending on the content of the test, some may feel mentally and physically stressed, so we wanted to create a space where they could spend the time as comfortably as possible, and to create a unique and special space that would realize their wish to make this extraordinary day "a rich and special day."

solution

In terms of architectural concept design, given its location in a lush, open residential area, the design was chosen to blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. The facade features delicate white louvers that do not disrupt the natural surroundings of the neighborhood. Each louver is of a different length and angle, creating a variety of expressions depending on the viewing point while blending into the streetscape. Louvers are also installed at openings connecting the interior and exterior of the building, providing a degree of privacy and creating a sense of security and comfort within the interior space. Furthermore, the soft cabling of the louvers allows for appropriate intake of natural light, reducing environmental burdens such as direct sunlight and wind. In addition, the angles and shapes are designed to avoid negatively impacting the surrounding wind environment, demonstrating consideration for the surrounding environment.
In interior concept design, the concept was "to add color to the extraordinary," resulting in a vibrant and colorful atmosphere that enhances daily life. Every space, from the men's and women's private areas to each examination room, restrooms, elevators, stairwells, and even the café, features a unique concept design. High-saturation colors symbolizing each space are employed, and a balanced combination of high-quality materials from Japan and abroad, along with delicate details in lighting, furniture, plants, and art, creates a refined and elegant impression. A series of vibrant and graceful scenes unfold, enriching a day of extraordinary experiences. Furthermore, curves are used in the design of each interior element to create a soft and unobtrusive space.
