ARTBAY TOKYO

ARTBAY TOKYO

This is an art-based urban development project based in the waterfront subcenter area. The aim is to connect the five areas and the vast city of over 440 hectares through art and increase its appeal. For the first project, architect Motosuke Bandai was invited to design a pavilion called ARTBAYHOUSE. The pavilion was created with the concept of "architecture that embraces the 'nature' that is unique to this place." The architecture itself is an experiential work of art, and at the same time, it is a space that serves as a base for various art and urban development projects, as it changes while being enveloped in the ever-changing nature of light, wind, rain, and plants. There is also a cafe inside, and pets are allowed inside. The space where people, plants, animals, insects, and other various "nature" can each spend their time comfortably is a place where you can experience unprecedented newness that questions the future of cities and spaces. [Social issues / Customer issues / Requests] The waterfront subcenter area has all the basic urban functions, but the scale of each building and road is large, and there was a lack of places where people could spend their time comfortably, especially outdoors. Furthermore, although there are many natural attractions not found in urban areas, such as ocean views and wide skies, these were not being fully utilized. [Solution] 1. Create a human-scale space that serves as a starting point for urban development, where people can gather and feel comfortable. 2. Create content that has the power to attract and spread information, making people want to visit. 3. Implement experimental programs that are unique to the waterfront new city center area. With these three pillars as the planning axis, we aimed to realize an art project unique to this area that would present new value while responding to the issues facing the town. <Our project members> [Sales/Project Management] Ito Etsuro, Ibe Reiko [Research/Planning] Sugimoto Taku, Yokota Tomoko, Mochizuki Mina

Yamba Lake Station Maruiwa

Yamba Lake Station Maruiwa

This project is one of the initiatives aimed at helping residents of areas to be submerged by the construction of the Yamba Dam to rebuild their lives and find meaning in life. Our company was responsible for the basic planning, schematic design, working drawings, interior administration, and consulting services supporting local operating companies for the "Regional Development Facilities" in the "Kawarayu District" and "Yokokabe District" of the area for approximately six years. For the Yokokabe Regional Development Facility, we handled not only the facility plan, but also the planning and production, including supporting the establishment of the operating body to be set up in the district, attracting participating companies, consulting for restaurants operated by residents, menu development, and operational supervision of opening equipment. The facility concept design was based on the concept of "inheriting and developing the town's memory," and recreated the former Naganohara Town Hall*, which had served its purpose for over 90 years since its construction and was scheduled for demolition, as a symbol of the district. The design aimed to create opportunities for the town's history to be seen by children who will lead the district in the future and by visiting tourists, so that the new businesses that will be operated here will lead to the regeneration, reconstruction, and development of the district. *The old government building, constructed in 1929 (Showa 4), was a two-story wooden building with a hipped roof and clapboard exterior walls, and a hipped roof above the porch, making it a hybrid of Japanese and Western architectural styles. It was also said to be "the only wooden government building in Gunma Prefecture." [Social Issues/Customer Issues/Requests] [Business Aspects] With the construction of the Yamba Dam, it was necessary to establish a new business, unprecedented in this region, as a facility to help residents of the area to be submerged rebuild their lives and find meaning in life. It was also requested that the facility be differentiated from facilities planned in other areas or similar facilities, and that it have the ability to attract visitors and possess uniqueness. [concept design Aspects] It was requested that the old government building, which is filled with people's memories, be utilized in some way, that the plan be designed to be visible from the busy national highway from the perspective of attracting visitors, and that the plan be designed to take advantage of the view that allows for a distant view of the Yamba Dam and a panoramic view of the lake. [Solution] [Business Aspect] In order to realize the requests, we prioritized three things: firstly, making suggestions to make feasible business ideas from local residents; secondly, differentiating the community development facilities in the "Yokokabe area" and the "Kawarayu area"; and thirdly, strongly supporting the establishment of a local operating company. In this project, we aimed to open a restaurant, something that all residents of the area had no experience with, and promoted it in a way that was in line with the characteristics of the region and the characteristics of the business. In particular, we held numerous dialogues about "finding what makes Yokokabe area unique" and "utilizing local recipes," and worked together to develop the menu, proceeding with a plan that was closely tied to the community. Professional chefs were invited to the trial and tasting sessions to support raising awareness among residents, revitalizing the region through improved cooking skills, and strengthening self-reliance. [concept design Aspect] When functionally transforming the building from a town hall to a lakeside station, we surveyed the existing building and chose to recreate it in a modern way while taking care to evoke a sense of nostalgia for the former town hall. The retro and distinctive design of the old government building has been recreated to create a visual appeal. In addition, by creating open openings facing the Yamba Dam, it has been made a location with one of the best views among the facilities around the dam lake. Furthermore, in order to maintain the atmosphere of the old government building while adhering to current building regulations, careful consideration was given to the structural design. <Our project members> [Sales/Project Management] Satoshi Arai, Hitomi Yamamoto [Planning/Consulting] Kenichi Sakazume, Yuki Shimokuni [design, layout] NAU: Sakae Kirioka, Nana Kosano

Hamamatsu Castle

Hamamatsu Castle

The castle tower of Hamamatsu Castle is a park facility constructed in 1958 with donations from citizens. 60 years had passed since it was completed, and displays inside the facility and the decorations were deteriorating. This project aims to enhance the appeal of Hamamatsu Castle Park as a central park and improve the satisfaction of citizens and visitors in displays area, marking 450 years since Tokugawa Ieyasu built Hamamatsu Castle. At our company, I was in charge of design construction including interiors, sign graphics, video software hardware, lighting and electrical work, and furniture and fixtures. [Social Issues/Customer Issues/Requests] ・ Introduces the history from Hikima Castle, the predecessor of Hamamatsu Castle, to the construction, reconstruction and demolition of Hamamatsu Castle, and to Hamamatsu Castle Park. ・ Introducing the castle ruins that can be visited in the city, and conveying the multi-layered history of Hamamatsu Castle and the appearance of castles in various parts of the city. - Give a sense of unity to current displays works and historical background. ・ Production of multilingual panels and digital video contents ・ displays. Study of traffic lines and concept design, taking into account operations during the COVID-19 pandemic. Use of FSC® certified Tenryu lumber (municipal lumber) to obtain FSC® project certification. We received the above request. [Solution] ・ Focusing on the fact that the young Ieyasu lived in Hamamatsu Castle, the historical background of Ieyasu and the people surrounding him during those 17 years, planning and design was done by zoning into "passion," "situation" and "scenery" layers. Produced a passion stage expressing the "passion" of young Ieyasu. The entire history of the castle, from Hikima Castle, the predecessor of Hamamatsu Castle, to the construction, renovation and demolition of Hamamatsu Castle, and to Hamamatsu Castle Park, was introduced through a panoramic theater using existing models. ・ Tenryu cedar from Hamamatsu city is used for the "scenery" layer on the third floor. During the renovation, the castle became the first castle in Japan to receive FSC® project certification. [Customer comments] For this renewal, we have thoroughly renewed the castle tower by accurately organizing the current status and issues of the castle tower, incorporating videos using the latest technology, and recent discoveries and research. In addition, there was an introduction to the castle ruins that can be visited in the city, as well as explanations of places related to Ieyasu, legends, and food culture. The newly renovated Hamamatsu Castle is not only a place for learning, but also a facility where you can look back on the history of Hamamatsu again, such as the reconstructed castle tower. Visitors have commented that "you can understand the origin of Hamamatsu Castle" and "it has become more fashionable." The City of Hamamatsu believes that the park has improved its function as a central facility for further regional revitalization and tourism exchange, in addition to enhancing the appeal of Hamamatsu Castle as a Central Park and improving the satisfaction of citizens and visitors. < our company Project Members > [Direction] Atsushi Suzuki [concept design] Sayaka Horikoshi [Planning] Mima Inagaki [Production/construction] Akinobu Takahashi [Sales/Project Management] Akinori Ogasawara and Haruka Tashiro [Related Links] NOMURA Co.,Ltd. opens "Hamamatsu Castle" and "Hamamatsu Kodomokan," Japan's first FSC® certified facilities using domestic wood.

Hamamatsu Children's Museum

Hamamatsu Children's Museum

Hamamatsu Children's Center opened in November 2001 with the aim of providing children with a place for healthy play, creative experiences, and interaction, and to support the healthy upbringing of children who will lead the next generation and parenting. The purpose of this project was to concept design the interiors environment, including the play equipment, which had become aged and outdated after approximately 18 years since the center's opening, and to provide a safer and more comfortable service to users. "Hamamatsu Children's Center Philosophy" Children have an insatiable curiosity within them. Hamamatsu Children's Center aims to create a loving environment where these children can fully express their childlike nature and play to their heart's content with peace of mind. We hope that they will interact with many people and enhance their social skills and creativity. Furthermore, we will foster an environment where parents who are raising important children who will lead the future can expand their network of mutual support and enjoy parenting while receiving professional support for child-rearing. We believe that the experiences and thoughts that children have in a psychologically stable environment during this period are incorporated into their brains' long-term memories, forming fertile ground for them to live rich and happy lives. [Social Issues/Customer Issues/Requests] 1) While maintaining the operating philosophy and functions of the facility since its opening, update some of the play equipment and interiors. 2) Minimize the period of temporary closure and complete the design and construction within a short period of one year. 3) In the renewal, take part in the use of Tenryu timber (locally produced timber) promoted by Hamamatsu City and obtain FSC® project certification. The above requests were received. [Solutions] 1) concept design a playground that incorporates the characteristics of the region, such as Hamamatsu's nature and industrial technology, and create mechanisms to foster interest in and affection for the region. 2) In order to create a "Hamamatsu-specific playground" that nurtures the humanity and learning foundation of Hamamatsu children, we created original play equipment and spaces based on theories of human development. 3) Hamamatsu City-produced Tenryu cedar is used in the hall, Daichi Zone (floor, walls, and some play equipment), workshop room, and corridors. As an FSC® project team with Hamamatsu City as the project manager and our company as the deputy project manager, we have obtained the international forest certification system "FSC® Project Certification*" for a public children's facility of a similar type in Japan. *FSC® Project Certification - The FSC® standard is an international forest certification system based in Germany and is the highest standard in the world. - Obtaining FSC® certification guarantees that timber from properly managed forests is being used. - Hamamatsu City is particularly committed to using FSC® certified timber as a concrete action toward the SDGs. <Our Project Members> [Direction] Atsushi Suzuki [concept design] Mika Watanabe [Planning] Remi Abe [Production] Akinobu Takahashi, Hironari Ota, Takehiro Ichijo [Sales & Project Management] Akinori Ogasawara, Haruka Tashiro ~Related Links~ [Press Release] NOMURA Co.,Ltd. JR Nichinan Line Nichinan Station Building

JR Nichinan Line Nichinan Station Building

~More than just a place to wait for trains, a station as a community space where everyone can feel comfortable~ Based on the concept of creating a place that fosters community, workshops and surveys were conducted with local residents from the planning stage. User needs were made apparent and reflected in the design. To create opportunities to experience various cultures through books during the time spent in the station, a corner where books and picture books can be read has also been installed. In order to convey the charm of local resources through the use of the station, the locally produced "Obi cedar" was actively used in various parts of the space, and the design and production of a space in which users can experience the charm of Obi cedar through their own experience was planned and produced. [Client's challenges/requests] The Nichinan Station, which was a place only for getting on and off trains and lacked any sense of community before the renovation, was to be transformed into a place that fosters local community and allows people to feel the "charm of the region". [Solution] In order to convey the appeal of local resources through the use of the station building, we collaborated with a local design firm, Ryohin Keikaku Co., Ltd., and actively incorporated locally produced "Obi cedar" into various parts of the space. To create opportunities for users to experience the charm of Obi cedar, we used wood for the station building's facade and window frames, while harmonizing it with the forest spreading behind the station building. In addition, we implemented a signage plan that makes the station's presence recognizable from a distance, and produced a space that harmonizes and integrates with the surrounding environment and the station building, with wood as the main material. [Customer's Voice] People other than JR users have started to visit the station building, and it has been renovated into an attractive space where local people can gather. We would like to continue to use it as a place for the local community, such as by holding events using the station building in the future. <Our Project Members> [Sales] Reiko Ibe [Planning, Production, Workshop concept design, design supervision] Mari Matsumoto ~Related Links~ [News Releases] ・ NOMURA Co.,Ltd., Ltd. opens a renovated old house facility as the first in a public-private partnership project to revitalize Nichinan City, Miyazaki Prefecture ・Nichinan City, Miyazaki Prefecture and NOMURA Co.,Ltd. conclude a "Comprehensive Partnership Agreement on Regional Revitalization" ・Nichinan City, Miyazaki Prefecture and NOMURA Co.,Ltd. sign the "Regional Revitalization Business Personnel Exchange Program" ・ NOMURA Co.,Ltd. takes on the role of a creative partner in community co-creation for urban development [Media Coverage Information] ・2019.07.05 "Construction Communications Newspaper" ・2020.04.01 "Nichinan TV" ・2020.04.07 "Miyazaki Nichinichi Shimbun" [Related Achievements] ・Plus D Nichinan Branch ・Kiraku Obi Goya Residence ・DENKEN PJM Photography: Park concept design Co., Ltd.

Green Stamp Karuizawa Dormitory Shoukan

Green Stamp Karuizawa Dormitory Shoukan

"Sho-u-kan" is a part of the former residence of Count Abe, the former lord of the Fukuyama Domain, built in 1892 in Nishikata-cho, Hongo-ku, Tokyo. In 1971, Tokio Kasuga, the founder of Green Stamp Co., Ltd., relocated and restored it in Karuizawa, and it has been used as a memorial hall for the Green Stamp Karuizawa dormitory. In 2020, Sho-u-kan was renovated at the same time as the newly renovated annex, to be used as a retreat facility by both Green Stamp Co., Ltd. and Kennedyx Co., Ltd. Our company was in charge of the design and interior administration of the Sho-u-kan renovation, including seismic retrofitting, as well as the installation of FF&E (First Floor & Energy) equipment throughout the facility. [Social Issues / Customer Issues / Requests] Since its initial relocation, various additions and renovations have been carried out, and the connection to the other building is only made at the point of a corridor, and structural stress has been placed on the building, resulting in settlement. The entire facility was aging, and in the case of Sho-u-kan, it was difficult to use in winter due to the climate of Karuizawa. Also, although it originally had tatami mats, the frequency of its use had decreased due to changes in the lifestyle of Japanese people. However, there was a desire to renovate it while preserving as much of its original appearance as possible. [Solution] Based on an investigation of Sho-u-kan, it was restored as much as possible to its simple form from when it was relocated, and a seismic diagnosis was conducted to reinforce the structure to withstand seismic forces equivalent to those stipulated by the Building Standards Act. It faces the annex across a courtyard, giving a sense of unity to the entire facility. While respecting the original design as much as possible, the aim was to extend the period of use, including winters other than the coldest period, by installing insulation and air conditioning equipment in the unseen parts. Underfloor heating was installed and the flooring was changed to hardwood, and the walls added for seismic reinforcement were made to express the original image of the walls, fixtures, etc., and the upper half of the space was preserved as much as possible of the original design. <Our Project Members> [Sales] Kayu Tatsumi [Survey, design, layout, and interior administration] NAU1: Norio Koito [Production and construction] Mikiya Fujitaka

Tokyo International Airport Terminal 2 International Flight Facility "TOKYO AIR"

Tokyo International Airport Terminal 2 International Flight Facility "TOKYO AIR"

With the expansion of the international terminal facilities at Tokyo International Airport (Haneda Airport) Terminal 2, we were responsible for the environmental concept design and construction of the commercial area facing the departure lobby. Aiming for a symbolic concept design befitting Japan's new gateway, we expressed the future "sky" of "Tokyo," which floats and blends into the "sky" like "clouds" and "wind," endlessly changing its form. Countless objects composed using cutting-edge 3D modeling design technology create the streamlined silhouettes of "clouds" and "wind," and the ever-changing "sky" emerges through the shifting light and color gradients. For example, the broad and magnificent appearance of "clouds" and "wind" seen from afar is, upon closer inspection, composed of a delicate geometric arrangement of approximately 5,500 strip-shaped parts. Furthermore, the daily passage of time and the changing seasons are expressed through the soft and delicate light and color gradations of approximately 1,800 uniquely developed lights. The dynamism of Japanese sensibilities, which repeatedly combines meticulousness and generosity, and the "Japanese aesthetic" that cherishes the changing seasons, such as falling cherry blossoms, waves, autumn breezes, and winter skies. By fusing these two elements into a space using unprecedented new-dimensional technology, we challenged the possibilities of future spaces. <Our Project Members> [Sales & Project Management] Kazuyoshi Hikota [design, layout] Shinjiro Kondo [Production & construction] Miyuki Nakamura, Hiroshi Udagawa, Ryosuke Takada

Shiroi Koibito Park

Shiroi Koibito Park

Ishiya Confectionery Co., Ltd. is a leading confectionery manufacturer in Hokkaido, well known for its Shiroi Koibito (white lover). Head Office built the Ishiya Chocolate Factory, a factory building, in 1995 and opened the entire facility, collectively called Shiroi Koibito Park. Shiroi Koibito Park has become one of Sapporo's most popular tourist attractions. With an eye on attracting 1 million visitors, a renewal plan was launched to improve customer service and add new entertainment features with the theme of a facility that offers surprises and fun by making the most of a candy factory. NOMURA Co.,Ltd. The "K" Line Group was engaged in the overall direction of the park, production of visual content, displays review of the plan, space concept design, production and construction (new café, renovation of the lounge, expansion of the experience corner, complete renovation of the factory store, review of signage plan), NOMURA Co.,Ltd. planning and design construction covering the entire range of the Group's know-how and produced the space in a single operation. We produced the space. We also produced a wide range of creative work, including the facility logo concept design, character re concept design and new character concept design, advertising concept design, and limited edition product packaging concept design for the renewal. The Chocotopia House, a projection mapping tour to explore the secrets of chocolate with "Dr. Chocolate Loves Chocolate Too Much", the Chocotopia Factory, a tour of the Shiroi Koibito production line, café, store, etc., are the main attractions of the new chocolate entertainment facility. The main theme of the facility concept design is to maintain the antique style, which is the basic tone of the entire facility, and to make the most of the atmosphere of the existing facility concept design ・The main premise of the project is to produce a production that will allow visitors to see, learn, taste, and experience chocolate. The first major issue was to eliminate the chronic congestion of over 700,000 annual visitors. Another issue was to create new attractions, and it was necessary to plan for not only the main tourists of the past, the out-of-town visitors, but also the in-town and foreign visitors. The first step was to clearly establish a guiding production concept and review the displays storyline and route planning, starting from the start of the attraction, through the tour route to the lounge and stores, with the aim of eliminating congestion on the visitor route. We also aimed to relieve congestion by adding more attractions, a new café, renovating the lounge, expanding the hands-on facilities, and expanding the concession stand at the end of the tour, thereby distributing the points of interest to visitors. We also aimed to create a new attraction by creating a new character for content creation and utilizing the latest production technologies such as projection mapping and a new diorama model based on a new concept. <Our project members】 [Sales/Project Management] Taku Wakita, Tadayuki Matsubara [Planning] Yuichi Saito, Tomoko Yanagihara, Moe Murakami [design, layout] Keiu Tamura, Fujie Suzuki, Kentaro Yamada, Yuki Masuda, Akika Yamada, Shifumi Kato, Sari Suzuki, Mayu Toyoda [Production, construction] Takashi Sasatani, Ikushige Umemoto [Creative Engineers] Akira Takashi, Mitsuru Kishikawa, Kenichi Kishikawa, Kenichi Kawamoto Mitsuru Takashi, Kenichi Kishikawa, Banji Kawai [Sign Planning] Naoaki Mamoru (Nomura Products) [Production Equipment and Modeling construction Cooperation] Mizuki Suzumura (Nomura Techno)

Brillia Shinagawa Minamioi Communication Salon oooi

Brillia Shinagawa Minamioi Communication Salon oooi

A community space where people can connect with each other through their daily lives and the town, a place where people can call out "Hey!" We proposed opening the condominium sales center to the community so that local residents and new residents who will be living in the condominium can get to know each other. For local residents, this would allow them to have positive feelings towards the large apartment complex that will be built and to get a feel for the atmosphere of future residents even before it is completed. At the same time, we aimed to create a space that would be comfortable for prospective buyers. [Client's Challenges/Requests] Early integration between new condominium residents and the community is a major challenge. Given this social background, this project started with the idea that the sales center needed to be a starting point for a community that would be suitable for such a request. [Solution] As a starting point for the community, the sales center was planned based on a "traditional Japanese house" so that it would function as a "place" where "people who already live" and "people who will live" in the community can connect, drop by, and interact. The "earthen floor" connects the exterior and interior spaces, the "living room" is a place where users can converse, and the "veranda" is a space where people can easily chat with local residents. Through these concept design, we were able to visualize the local community and provide an updated lifestyle. [Customer's Voice] We received cooperation in many aspects, from concept creation, planning, introduction of operators, design, and construction, and we believe this project was only possible because of your company's teamwork. Kanda Myojin Cultural Exchange Center "EDOCCO"

Kanda Myojin Cultural Exchange Center "EDOCCO"

EDOCCO, the Kanda Myojin Cultural Exchange Center, which we comprehensively produced from concept development to opening, is a facility that inherits tradition and creates new culture based on the concept of "tradition x innovation." It is a unique multi-purpose facility with four above-ground floors and one basement floor, which also includes the function of a shrine's amulet distribution office. Centered around a multi-purpose hall, it operates 365 days a year, hosting corporate presentations and displays on weekdays and transforming into a live music venue on weekends. Furthermore, the Japanese cultural experiences, which focus on preserving traditional performing arts and crafts, target inbound tourists. The facility incorporates mechanisms to improve visitor satisfaction, such as introducing merchandise sales and cafe services that will please visitors, while fostering collaboration with the local community. [Challenges/Themes] In 20 years, there are two challenges: the crisis that 40% of temples and shrines will disappear due to the effects of a declining birthrate and aging population, and the decrease in Shinto wedding ceremonies. This project started in response to the desire to increase the number of worshippers of shrines in the future. [Solution] By injecting marketing principles into the shrine and developing a plan to attract demographics that had not previously visited shrines (young people and inbound tourists), this facility was created, incorporating two functions: a multipurpose hall and a Japanese culture experience studio. The facility attracts three target groups—business people, young people, and inbound tourists—and is bustling with activity every day. <Our Project Members> [Producer] Kenichi Sakazume [Sales] Seiji Yamaguchi, Tsuyoshi Inami, Motoo Kawada [Planning] Keita Kobayashi, Yoshiko Watanabe [concept design] Ryo Onishi, Eri Okuyama, Nanako Wajun, Ayumi Sasai [Production] Shigeyoshi Takahara, Jun Endo, Hiroki Kimura ~Related Links~ [News Releases] ・Kanda Myojin Cultural Exchange Center "EDOCCO" to be comprehensively produced by Kenichi Sakazume, Chief Planner NOMURA Co.,Ltd.
