"Creating the future of work for NOMURA Co.,Ltd. Ltd. Group" - Group company base consolidation project

"Creating the future of work for NOMURA Co.,Ltd. Ltd. Group" - Group company base consolidation project

NOMURA Co.,Ltd. opened a new office in March 2021 in the Daiba Garden City Building adjacent to the Head Office building (Odaiba, Tokyo) to accommodate the new normal era. NOMURA Co.,Ltd. The Group's goal is to activate communication and better creativity among employees while taking advantage of the Group's diverse work styles and values. NOMURA Co.,Ltd. The Group launched a project in 2019 to consolidate Group company locations with the aim of creating an environment in which employees can work together more closely and synergistically. Facing the changes in work styles and social issues arising from the Corona disaster, we sought to create a realistic office space for the New Normal era with the three keywords of "health," "experimentation," and "brand" to create the "way of the future work. We believed that the function of the office in the new normal era would change from a "workplace" to an "innovative space that triggers communication," where a diverse range of people from inside and outside the company can gather and actively exchange ideas and opinions in a way that only the real world can offer. To this end, the communication space "RESET SPACE_2" was designed based on the concept of a "Unique Park," a park-like space that can be used by all employees to accommodate diverse and unique work styles. The space is made of 100% fair wood. CONFERIUM is a proposal for a new meeting room area, and is an attempt to "act displays in the way we work" by daring to actively showcase unique meetings. The know-how used in the displays space is applied to the office space, for example, by darkening the common corridor to make the conference room stand out as displays. The creative office area has adopted a group address system. The creative floor is designed to allow concept design work with an awareness of the "concept design feeling" of scale and materials, which is a major advantage when conducting concept design work. By clarifying the purpose of the space, we were able to create a sophisticated space at a low cost. This project was planned, designed, construction and managed by the NOMURA Co.,Ltd. group.

GREE Shinjuku office

GREE Shinjuku office

This project involved the integration of offices for five advertising media companies of GREE. The concept of this project is "creating opportunities for interchange." This concept was born from the idea of "providing a place that creates opportunities for serendipitous encounters and communication." The entrance space, which will be the face of the five companies, is designed to be a space where you can feel change and movement, with lighting colors changing according to the time and scene through glass bricks. When used for events, it is envisioned that the light will have a rhythm in sync with the music to create a party scene. Inside the office, there is a place called "Breakthrough Base" that will serve as a catalyst for interaction between the five companies. "Breakthrough" means "not just a relaxation space, but a place to open up the future and break through the current situation," and "Base" means "not just a place, but a base that gives a sense of strength and hints that something is being planned." The flooring is laid out in a way that anticipates the flow of movement, and is planned to be an "interchange: a place where paths intersect," and is utilized as a place for natural interaction between the five companies. Areas that are touched by hands have been given an aged finish, giving a sense of liberation as if you were feeling the sea breeze in Shinjuku, where the sea is not visible. The use of plain materials and a variety of chair concept design created a relaxed space with a warm, laid-back feel. Furthermore, reflecting the idea of a fresh start, we aimed for a minimalist space without over-designing. While maintaining a sophisticated and stylish atmosphere, we also incorporated photogenic spots, befitting a company involved in social projects. We designed a space that is stylish yet inspires anticipation of new ideas and possibilities. <Our Project Members> [Sales & Project Management] Masaki Yotsuya, Kaori Murakami [design, layout] Atsuko Ozawa, Keita Obana

Excom Global Head Office Entrance Lobby

Excom Global Head Office Entrance Lobby

The entrance lobby of Excom Global's headquarters Head Office specializing in providing communication environments, including mobile internet access for travelers abroad. Mobile communication services create diverse connections around the world, linking people to people and people to things. The way individual communication chains transcend countries and generations, eventually giving rise to global movements and weaving together one large entity, is reminiscent of a "forest" where the activities and connections of various living things create the expansion of more life. The infinite connections and possibilities that Excom Global's business brings to the world are superimposed on the state of a rich forest, and concept design theme is based on the natural forms found there, the memories of the forest's growth, and the beautiful appearance that changes with time. As an element symbolizing the forest landscape, the walls are covered with panels concept design with the overlapping silhouettes of trees as a motif. During the day, sunlight, and after sunset, artificial light, casts soft shadows on the floor and walls through the panel openings, creating an impression of dappled sunlight filtering through trees, making it feel as if you are in a forest, even though you are inside a high-rise building in Shibuya. The striking tables and drink counters are concept design with "tree rings" as a motif, representing the memory of a forest's growth. Bent metal plates are assembled in a concentric offset pattern, and the tabletop is made of transparent acrylic so that this process can be seen. The layout plan divides the space into two areas: a reception area for welcoming guests and a meeting area for business negotiations, and under the above concept design theme, efforts have been made to create appropriate levels of privacy and transparency for each scene. [Client's Challenges/Requests] We received a request to concept design a reception space and business negotiation space with an atmosphere like the lobby of a luxury hotel. <Our Project Members> [Sales & Project Management] Kazushige Ishii, Kaori Murakami [design, layout] Yoshihiro Kitamura [Production & construction] Ikuo Chikaishi, Tetsuji Koike, Takuya Kagawa

Shanghai World Financial Center "Food Garden"

Shanghai World Financial Center "Food Garden"

Nomura Co., Ltd. was responsible for the design and basic planning of the food court in the Shanghai World Financial Center (SWFC), a landmark skyscraper in Shanghai, China. The food court was designed to be a relaxing space enveloped in "light" and "greenery" to support the eating, working, and socializing needs of office workers. NOMURA Co.,Ltd. was responsible for concept design and schematic design, while NOMURA (Beijing) Co., Ltd. was responsible for working drawings and construction. [Client's Challenges/Requests] The "Food Garden" food court, located on the second basement floor of the SWFC, a Shanghai landmark, brings together 12 stores. The goal was to provide daily food support to over 10,000 office workers, while also creating a space that enhances the building's value by providing a place for office workers to relax, as well as event spaces and conference rooms that can be used for seminars and networking parties. [Solution] To create a comfortable relaxation space for office workers despite being underground, the "light" streaming in from above was visualized as louvers, creating a continuous scene of "greenery" creeping up towards the light. Furthermore, the event space and meeting rooms (with the possibility of catering from the food court) were planned as an integrated unit, creating a configuration that can attract customers even after the peak lunch hour. <Our Project Members> Design: NOMURA Co.,Ltd. GREE Head Office Office Renovation

GREE Head Office Office Renovation

This project involved the complete renovation of three floors of the Roppongi Hills Mori Tower, where GREE's Head Office are located. The project took over two years from conception and was carried out in multiple phases. The concept of this project was "to showcase GREE's craftsmanship." Having established Head Office in Roppongi Hills Mori Tower approximately nine years ago, GREE returned to its roots and expressed its passion for craftsmanship in the office space. In a space where many workers supporting GREE's three pillars—game business, advertising and media business, and live entertainment business—are present, we created interiors and furnishings of the entrance, lounge, café, and Future Labo, emphasizing the quality of the materials used to express the image of creating high-quality products. Project members, along with clients, were actually involved in construction of the furnishings on-site, resulting in a space imbued with the passion for craftsmanship. D-Sign Co., Ltd. handled overall project management, and Puddle Co., Ltd. was responsible for concept design planning. [Customer Feedback] In the new space created by NOMURA Co.,Ltd., the number of events and other activities has quadrupled compared to before the renovation, and the number of visitors is also on the rise, bringing back vibrancy to our office. The space and furnishings have been meticulously designed down to the smallest detail, allowing us to welcome our clients with confidence. <Our Project Members> [Sales & Project Management] Kaori Murakami, Shuichi Sakashita [Production & construction] Naoto Tominaga

Bosch Shibuya Head Office Office, 10th Floor, "The NEST"

Bosch Shibuya Head Office Office, 10th Floor, "The NEST"

Renovation project for Bosch Corporation Shibuya Head Office. We were in charge of planning, design, layout and construction for the renovation of one floor on the 10th floor into a communication space. Based on our experience of remodeling the 4th floor of the Head Office building into a communication space "RE/SP", we thought it was important to create an opportunity for interaction among employees. Based on the concept of "SCRAMBLE for MEET UP" (gather people, hatch new ideas, and fly out again), we designed the space to create a place where a diverse range of employees can gather and interact on a daily basis. Like Shibuya, where Bosch's Head Office is located, the space was composed in collaboration with various artists to express the mixing of people through encounters and exchanges, and is an open concept design where people can interact with an open mind. We also took part in the creation phase, including the logo concept design and event planning and management. The client required a place concept design where employees can interact with each other from a different perspective than the office floor, with the aim of stimulating communication and creating innovation within the company. Solution: We proposed a space configuration that would allow each employee to regain their vitality and deepen their connection with each other. Specifically, the space was divided into six main functional areas, including a counter for casual conversation with a cup of coffee in hand, a place to relax on a sofa, and a space for physical exercise and refreshment, with the aim of creating opportunities for communication that transcends age and departmental boundaries. The space is divided into six main functional areas. By proactively incorporating furniture and artwork that would trigger communication, we aimed to create a place where spontaneous ideas that are difficult to generate in the office area could be generated. The Bosch DNA is also available at displays to give visitors hints on how to create innovations. <Our project members> [Sales and project management] Kazushige Ishii, Kaori Murakami, Tomoyo Shishibori [design, layout] Manabu Yamanobe, Mitsutaka Hagiwara [Planning] Kenta Masubuchi [Production and construction] Tetsuji Koike

WOODY PARTS Factory Office

WOODY PARTS Factory Office

[Project Description] This project involved renovating the second-floor office area of a pre-cutting factory in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture, into a reception area, library lounge, and showroom. The aim was to create a space that fulfills the role and function of an office while preserving the unique atmosphere of the factory. The theme is "Forests where people walk together" and "Wooden spaces where people can live richly," with the concept of understanding the growth of trees and supporting the coexistence of wood and people. [Client's Challenges/Requests] ● To create a creative space where people can gather and interact, with "wood" as the keyword. ● To create mechanisms that allow people to feel closer to wood by deepening their knowledge and understanding of wood and by actually touching it. ● To consider not only seeing and touching wood, but also holding workshops to promote wood education and interaction with craftsmen. ● The wooden parts of wooden houses, mainly the structure, tend to be hidden by floors, walls, and ceilings in daily life, making it difficult to take an interest in them. In such a situation, the aim was to create mechanisms that allow people to experience the wood material itself, processing technology, manufacturing staff, and product quality processed by Woody Parts with all five senses. [Solution] The reception area was designed so that employees and visitors could view the space with a sense of depth. This is symbolically expressed in the tables, lighting, and bookshelves that make up the library lounge. In the showroom, mesh material was used on the walls so that displays walls would not disrupt the atmosphere of the former factory space. Taking advantage of the spaciousness of the space, presentation spaces for B2B and B2C were prepared. In order to allow for clear presentations, the showroom was not designed to be explanatory, but rather a space that visually presents handiwork and technology, resembling an art gallery. Emphasis was also placed on the ease of updating information so that it would not become outdated over time. In the future, the aim of this office is to create a space where, in addition to the traditional "manufacturing" using wood, "experience creation" related to "living" will be born. [Customer Feedback] ●There has been an increase in conversations that are not about products (things), such as the scent and texture of wood. ●The number of visitors has increased, not from on-site staff of existing customers, housing companies, but from management, architects, and planners. <Our Project Members> [Sales & Project Management] Takuya Kitai, Yoshiki Yamada [design, layout] Hiroaki Koshizen [Production & construction] Kentaro Hirano Photography: Nakasa & Partners Co., Ltd.

Plus D Nichinan Branch Office

Plus D Nichinan Branch Office

[Project Description] We converted a samurai residence over 140 years old, located within the Obi Important Traditional Buildings Preservation District, a castle town with a long history in Kyushu, into an office where you can experience the local culture. The overall concept is "Post-Heritage: Transformation for Inheritance and Passing on to the Next Generation," and by clarifying the points to be passed on and the points to be renewed, we are trying a new way of connecting culture. We aimed to create a space that connects with the community by reinterpreting the lifestyle of former private homes in a modern way. The concept design consists of two different spaces: a communication space with a large table made from the floorboards used in the original private home, and an open workspace with a counter facing the greenery through the opening. The gravel-covered earthen floor inserted between them serves as an intermediate area that connects the two spaces and the outside and inside. The newly constructed "tiered deck" in the garden gently connects the inside and outside, and is used as a space that connects people, things, and events, such as events where local people gather and promotional spaces for local products. [Customer Feedback] The unique and attractive office space, which allows us to experience the local culture, has been well-received not only by local residents but also by many municipalities and companies involved in vacant property management. These connections have enabled us to develop new businesses. <Our Project Members> [Development] Yasutoshi Yamano [Sales] Toru Moenuki [design, layout] Yoichi Kawakami, Shinpei Takeda, Ryosuke Shimizu
