The Okaya Silk Museum, "Silk Factory Okaya," opened in Okaya City, Nagano Prefecture, known as the "City of Silk." It is a unique museum in the world, offering a variety of experiences from displays of silk reeling machinery from the early Meiji period. Furthermore, with the desire to be a museum that conveys the truth (Fact) of silk, silk production, and the silk reeling industry, they invited the Miyasaka Silk Reeling Factory, the only place in Japan where traditional raw silk production methods are still preserved, to the museum, making it a factory museum where visitors can experience the spirit of craftsmanship that is in the DNA of Okaya. The structure consists of an entrance area where visitors can learn about the overview of Okaya's history, a museum area that traces the history of Okaya, the city of silk, with machinery and materials, and the Miyasaka Silk Reeling Factory, an actual silk reeling site, is located next door. displays are based on black and white and are composed in a clean and well-defined form, and are excellent in terms of concept design. The overall balance of displays, the balance between stillness and movement, is well-maintained, and they have designed a museum unlike any other in the country. Visitors have unanimously commented that displays were easy to understand and that they would like to visit again.
