Hida Space Science Museum Kamioka Lab

Kamioka Town, Hida City, Gifu Prefecture, where research bases for exploring the mysteries of the universe and elementary particles gather. The Hida Space Science Museum KamiokaLab is open to everyone to widely spread the appeal of research conducted using experimental equipment hidden 1,000 meters underground in the mountains of Hida, and to create a new relationship between science and society. It opened at the roadside station "Sukai Dome Kamioka". Neutrinos (*1) are mysterious elementary particles that are being researched all over the world. Super-Kamiokande (*2), the world's largest underground neutrino observation device, holds the key to unlocking the unsolved mysteries of the universe through neutrino research. At Kamioka Lab, we aimed to create a space where you can experience such a mysterious property of neutrinos, and experience something different from everyday life, such as going back and forth between the macro world of the universe and the micro world of neutrinos.

*1: One of the elementary particles whose names mean "neutral = neutral without electricity" and "ino (in Italian) = small". is underway.
*2: Super-Kamiokande: The world's largest underground neutrino observation device operated by the Institute for Cosmic Ray Research, University of Tokyo. In addition to investigating the properties of neutrinos themselves, we are trying to clarify the history of the universe using neutrinos.
