overview

Our company was responsible for planning, design, layout and construction of the employee cafeteria "Yao Daiichi Shokudo Isshoku," which opened at Sharp Corporation's (hereinafter referred to as "Sharp") Yao Plant on November 1, 2021.
In proposing the plan, we were conscious of creating not just a stylish space, but "a proposal that only Nomura could make." We proposed a cafeteria that would be a place for inner branding where people across organizational boundaries and generations could discover the "SHARP-ness," as well as a place for outer branding that could be experienced by business partners and affiliated companies who visit the company.

The space is divided into three zones - lunch, work and salon - and is designed to be not only a staff cafeteria, but also a place to relax, hold meetings with guests from inside and outside the company, and a place where people can connect and communicate with each other.
The single red line (Sharp red) that runs through the cafeteria represents Sharp's history and future.
For this project, we came up with concept design that could preserve the Yao Plant's history as a white goods production base for about 65 years while also ensuring hygiene. In addition, we also worked on reducing waste and removal costs from an SDGs perspective by utilizing the mezzanine floor, which was previously used for the production line, as an displays space for Sharp's iconic past products.

[Social issues/customer issues/requests]
As communication between business divisions was lacking, we received a request to create a space that would help strengthen connections within the company.

[Solution]
We proposed that the space be used not just as a place to eat, but as a place to work and relax. We also proposed displays past products as a place that would stimulate communication between employees and allow them to feel and discover Sharp's history.
