overview

Hoshino Resorts' new hotel concept, OMO, specializes in urban tourism and was launched in the spring of 2018. The first hotel to be opened, OMO7 Asahikawa, is a rebranding project of a long-established local hotel.
The brand concept is "An urban tourist hotel that doesn't just let you sleep, but raises the excitement of your trip." We proposed a new communication concept design for the hotel market by sprinkling various playful gimmicks in the space that bring out the appeal of the service content that connects travelers with locals and makes walking around the city more enjoyable.

Issues/requests

The compact single room 18u has been transformed into a twin room.
It was a difficult task how to solve the physical problem that there is no space to spread the carry case in the bed arrangement in the conventional twin room, and the psychological problem that the narrow space becomes stressful depending on the attributes of the visiting guests. .

solution

The two beds are arranged in an L-shape to ensure that the couple's eyes do not cross when sleeping, ensuring each person's private space. In the middle is a DANRAN table with a grass pattern, where the couple can sit around and play with Hokkaido products and cow figurines.
There is also space underneath the bed that can accommodate international flight size items, making the design efficient use of the limited space.
Not only has the hotel been concept design to be convenient for travelers, but the compact space also allows for stress-free accommodation for both solo travelers and couples.

Customer's voice

The first thing that gives you a sense of Hokkaido is the birch object at the front of the lobby, and the entire lobby is concept design with Asahikawa furniture and is filled with the warmth of wood. There are plenty of places for guests to relax, making it a comfortable place, and it seems that more people are gathering on the first floor than before.
