Upcycling scraps from building and interiors materials

NOMURA Co., Ltd. has been working on "social good activities" since 2021 to create happiness in people's spaces that will last into the future. We aim to solve social issues in four areas of activity: environment, community, culture, and people.
On March 15, 2023, our 131st founding anniversary, we installed furniture at the first floor entrance of our headquarters in Odaiba, Minato-ku, Tokyo, that will serve as a mechanism to "connect" people, events, and things, based on the concept of "opening to the community."

"SCRAPTURE" = SCRAP x FURNITURE
"SCRAPTURE," the prototype of which was unveiled at Social Good Week held in November 2022, was created with a focus on industrial waste, the amount of which amounts to 412 million tons per year.
This project, which has a deep connection with NOMURA, involves upcycling "SCRAP," a waste building and interiors material, and reusing it as "FURNITURE." After repeated consideration of functionality and concept design from the prototype, it has evolved into a conceptual piece of furniture that incorporates waste materials, and has now been installed.

We hope that by having visitors use these products, we can convey a message from NOMURA that we are committed to being environmentally friendly and continuing to contribute to society and the local community, and that it will also serve as an opportunity for people to think together about a better future and a sustainable society.
