“Marunouchi Street Park Illumination Tour!” Sponsored NOMURA

Since 2019, the Daimaru Yu Area Management Association (Ligare) has been working on a future area management demonstration experiment that transforms the "road space" into a comfortable "urban park space" on Marunouchi Nakadori, Tokyo. “Marunouchi Street Park” (abbreviation: MSP).

​“Marunouchi Street Park 2021 Winter”, the first winter event, will be held from December 2nd to 25th, 2021. Three spaces where you can feel the warmth with all five senses will appear under the theme of “Winter Streets”.

To explore how people can stay warm and spend time outdoors in a space that allows them to enjoy the illuminations, a seasonal feature of winter along Marunouchi Nakadori, plans call for a winter-specific spatial design that takes the cold into consideration, as well as the installation of a temporary building that will function as an information center. NOMURA was in charge of planning, design, construction, and operation. Nomura Co., Ltd. has a track record of creating a variety of spaces, both indoors and outdoors, concept design is demonstrating the comprehensive strength that only NOMURA can offer.

In addition, during the operation of "Marunouchi Street Park 2021 Summer" (August to September), as visually impaired people were observed using the park, interviews were conducted with people who are visually impaired from birth. The results included "The places I want to go are places I have been to once and enjoyed," "I am anxious about the first step when going to a new place," "I didn't know that Marunouchi was a park," and "Because I can't see, I enjoy things by using my imagination." If we can convey the charm of Marunouchi in a kind and careful manner by "notifying people in a way that is properly understood by visually impaired people" and "guiding with reliable support," we believe that they will want to "go again" and ultimately fall in love with Marunouchi Nakadori. Therefore, we will implement an illumination tour​ ​sponsored by NOMURA We believe that by creating an opportunity for everyone to "feel, connect, and spend the seasons," we will come closer to the MSP's goal of "people-centered roads."
