Tokyo Michi Terrace 2020

A new normal illumination that fuses the real and the remote, sending a message of gratitude and encouragement from Tokyo to medical professionals, essential workers, and all those who are moving toward the new normal.

We received a request for illuminations that could be enjoyed safely and securely during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as an event that would send a message to society.

To avoid overcrowding, the venues were dispersed, and in addition to viewing displays, we created and distributed AR experiences that could be safely enjoyed at home, as well as five videos that could be viewed on our website.

As a result of conveying our message through displays at the venue and on our official website, we believe that visitors to the venue and the website understood our purpose, based on their reactions on social media and other factors.
As a measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we were able to disperse visitors by reducing the size of displays at the venue, extending the event period by about 10 days compared to previous years, and extending the lighting hours.
(During the event, at the request of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, we shortened the lighting hours to 10 PM on December 18th and 8 PM on December 21st.)
Furthermore, by providing AR content, the event became enjoyable not only for visitors at night but also for those who visit during the day.
We operated the event with consideration for avoiding crowds and preventing the spread of infection, allowing visitors to enjoy themselves with peace of mind.
