This is the third plan for the renovation of the observation facility at Nikka Whisky's Yoichi Distillery, which will celebrate its 90th anniversary in 2024.
In addition to renovating displays explanations in the entrance hall of the Taketsuru House due to their aging, we were also in charge of installing new guiding signs for the visitor parking lot, renovating the guiding signs for existing facilities, and building a new monument at the photo spot to make it easier for visitors to tour the facility.
Due to the deterioration of displays at the entrance to the Taketsuru House, displays were not appealing enough to visitors, as displays explanations were no longer legible. Therefore, the challenge was to create displays structure that would give a more realistic feel to the Taketsuru family's lifestyle, and to create displays content that would further gain the sympathy of visitors from a different perspective to that of the museum. In addition, there were many cases where customers who arrived from the parking lot were unsure of where to go, so smoothly guiding them to the museum, restaurant, and shop was an issue.
The main theme of the Taketsuru House displays was to allow visitors to experience the Taketsuru family's loving and particular private life while also increasing empathy for the Nikka brand. The new displays aims to create displays that will deepen visitors' empathy and interest in the Nikka brand by introducing the Taketsuru family's lifestyle and the form of love, which were full of their particularities. In addition, by showing footage from the time, we have devised a way to give a more realistic feel to life at the Taketsuru House. In addition, new guidance signs in the parking lot have been designed to catch visitors' eyes, while the existing guidance signs have been revised to fit the management policy, as most viewing areas are now restricted to reservations.
The following comments have been received from visitors:
Overall, displays was very interesting.
・I really enjoyed listening to the thoughts and feelings expressed by everyone who was broadcast at the museum.
-The historic factory, the atmospheric museum, and the tasting area were all great.
・A lot has changed since I was here last year, and I felt that the introductory theater video and the intuitive way the museum is presented were all wonderful and memorable changes!
