Hamamatsu City After-School Children's Association x Hamamatsu Science Museum "Mirai-ra" Workshop ~Let's experience science in everyday things~

The purpose of this event is to provide an opportunity for elementary school students to communicate with the curators of the Science Museum and feel closer to science while spending time in after-school childcare on weekdays.
The Hamamatsu Science Museum "Miraira" and the after-school children's association in Hamamatsu City were connected via online broadcast, and a science experiment workshop was held using familiar materials such as paper cups and aluminum foil.
In 2019, we were entrusted with the renovation of the Hamamatsu Science Museum using the DBO method, which integrates design, construction, and operation. The Company operates the operation jointly with SBS Promotions as the "Designated Administrator".

* DBO method (Design, Build, Operate): A method of public-private partnership in which design, construction, maintenance, and operation are comprehensively ordered to private companies.

Recently, due to the increase in dual-income households and the decrease in time that parents and children spend together, an increasing number of children do not have the opportunity to go to experience facilities accompanied by their guardians. Our company and Asuha shared the desire to implement an initiative that would not leave such children behind and would allow them to encounter "surprises" and "discoveries" while spending time in their everyday living environment, stimulating their intellectual curiosity, which led to this workshop.

As soon as the curator Ue-chan appeared at the start, the children shouted out, "Oh, it's Ue-chan!", and the time seemed to fly by as the children were so excited from start to finish. We also received feedback from parents, such as, "We love science museums and visit them often, so we're very happy to have this kind of learning opportunity."
Although it is still in the trial stage, this collaboration with NOMURA (Hamamatsu Science Museum), which has deep roots in the local community, is extremely meaningful for our company in terms of indigenizing the company into the local area, and we look forward to continuing this initiative in the future.
