AKICHIDE PARK

A private park called "AKICHIDE PARK" has opened on a vacant lot in the Nagano Shopping Arcade in Kawachinagano City, Osaka Prefecture. The park is a joint venture between the local community, government, and businesses, with the aim of restoring the area's former bustle and enriching the lives of each and every citizen.
As part of our R&D activities, we support the purpose of this project and have participated in the Kawachinagano Station Front Regeneration Conference as a partner company.
In preparation for the opening of AKICHIDE PARK, we have been actively involved in a wide range of processes, including planning and basic concept, spatial design supervision, sponsorship, and event planning and management cooperation, while also working with other partner companies to continue revitalizing the park even after it has opened.

Nagano Shopping Street, located in front of Kawachinagano Station, was once a lively place where many people came and went, bustling with activity during New Year's. However, today, traces of that past have faded, and vacant lots and stores are increasing. In addition, while the commercial buildings and plazas in front of the station have been improved to a certain extent through urban redevelopment projects, the shopping street itself has not seen any major changes.
Given this background and the need to revitalize the area around the station, there was a strong demand for the revival of Nagano Shopping Street, which once supported the bustle of Kawachinagano Station.

A trilateral effort has begun involving the local community, government, and businesses with the aim of restoring former vitality to the area around Kawachinagano Station and Nagano Shopping Street and enriching the lives of each and every citizen.
 

Spring 2023: Launch of the "Kawachinagano Station Front Regeneration Conference"
With Yoshide at the center, the Kawachinagano Station Front Regeneration Council was launched, and with cooperation from the local community, government, and businesses, various challenges have been launched as the activity base for the revitalization of the Kawachinagano Station area and Nagano shopping district.

June 2023: Vacant lot utilization experiment "AKICHIDE LAB" begins
AKICHIDE LAB is an experiment to bring back vitality to the Nagano shopping arcade by utilizing vacant land. Since then, we have been continuously holding events and workshops to discover, edit, and share the hidden charms of the area.
 

March 2024: "AKICHIDE PARK" opens
As the next phase of "AKICHIDE LAB," "AKICHIDE PARK" was opened, turning the vacant lot into a permanent private park. A new challenge began on the vacant lot, with a vision of the future of the shopping street and the area where people can live happily, so that children and families will want to visit the shopping street again.

"AKICHIDE PARK" is a park that grows together with the local community and visitors. In addition to being a playground, it is open to a variety of challenges, including cafes, events, and businesses run by local residents. We aim to make it a long-loved park, serving as a place where local people can gather freely during the week, and hosting events organized by local groups and businesses on weekends. We will also develop a wide range of activities that are unique to a privately-run park, fostering new activity in Nagano Shopping Street and the surrounding area.

One of the missions of the Kawachinagano Station Front Regeneration Council is to utilize "AKICHIDE PARK" to increase the number of functions and stores that are lacking in front of the station, and the council will continue to take on this challenge in the future.

They created an elegant space that was warm and concept design, yet impressive enough to be featured externally and accepted by the locals.
