[Project Summary] Weathernews Inc. opened its in-house nursery, "WNI RAIN KIDS HOUSE," with the aim of creating an environment where employees can balance childcare and their work lives. Located within the company's Makuhari Techno Garden complex, the nursery aims to foster a safe and secure working environment for employees. It also houses an after-school program for children up to sixth grade. The "RAIN" in the nursery's name embodies the company's desire to foster respectful, adventurous, and independent qualities in children. Weathernews requested a unique space design that would express this concept, as well as efficient functionality for mixed-age childcare, such as combining a nursery and after-school program. Our project team is comprised of working fathers and mothers. Drawing on their own childcare experience, we planned and designed the names of each class and the educational programs. We pursued Weathernews' unique identity down to the smallest details, from the space expressing "RAIN" to the logo graphics and design, and worked with Team M construction with safety and environmental considerations in mind. [Customer Feedback] We discussed various themes and concepts internally to create a facility unique to Weathernews, and NOMURA Co.,Ltd. was extremely helpful in bringing this to fruition, including the process. For example, the logo concept design and concept captured the hearts of our staff, and we were impressed with their idea of painting a weather chart from the company's founding on the floor, which we adopted. Nomura Co. NOMURA Co.,Ltd. provided a wide range of suggestions, and we were able to open a wonderful in-house nursery that is uniquely Weathernews. The museum opened in November 2005, bringing together all the precious materials related to Nagasaki's international exchange. It attracted attention as the first prefectural museum to adopt a designated manager system that includes the curatorial department. Since its opening, Nomura NOMURA Co.,Ltd. has been involved in the facility's operation as the designated manager. While utilizing our comprehensive capabilities to hold exhibitions and events, we also actively engage in activities with the cooperation of local residents, such as having volunteers reenact court decisions in skits in the restored magistrate's office. The museum also serves as a research center for "Nagasaki Studies," and works in cooperation with the founder to operate a system that ensures the continuity of cultural administration.
