overview

[Project Summary]
This newly renovated facility aims to introduce the history of the evolution of automobiles in Japan, America and Europe from their birth to the present day through their involvement with society.
The previous displays style featured separate floors for Japan and Europe and the US, but now it's an integrated displays that conveys how Japanese car manufacturing has developed within the context of a single global history.
The museum is characterized by its graphic layout that does not distract from the appreciation of cars, such as by turning messages into catchy slogans and photographic presentations that show the background of the times. This has created a museum where visitors can intuitively understand the emotional world of car concept design which has developed alongside technological advances.

[Customer Issues]
By conveying how Japan's automobile industry has developed in relation to society, including the social needs and challenges of each era in world history,
The challenge was to create an integrated displays that would highlight the value and appeal of each car.

[Solution]
We paid special attention to planning explanations that would be easy to understand for a diverse range of visitors, and to effectively positioning vehicles.
The histories of Japanese cars and Western cars, which were previously displayed separately on different floors, have now been presented as one global history, creating an integrated displays that allows visitors to intuitively experience the history of the development of the automobile.
Our aim was to create displays structure that would allow visitors, upon walking around displays, to naturally learn what role Japan has played in the 100-year history of the automobile.

[Customer feedback]
Zone displays explanations and spatial presentation are made possible by using transparent partitions such as mesh tarpaulins and ball bead curtains.
While taking advantage of the open space that is a characteristic of the original building, we have created zones and created a spatial presentation using large graphics.
We were able to enrich the content of displays and improve the quality of the space.
