overview

This is a renovation project for the Toyobo Building, located along the Dojima River in Osaka, an area filled with charming historical buildings and abundant nature. The Dojima River is a river with an attractive landscape that represents Osaka, a city known as the "City of Water," so we aimed to create a place where people can work energetically while enjoying the comfort of this location.

The plaza is designed to look as if the riverside deck extends to the building, and a swaying willow tree is placed as the symbolic tree, giving a visual sense of the river breeze. The facade incorporates concept design inspired by the grandeur of the Dojima River and the density of its waves. The building's exterior is wrapped in a soft wave design, which is intended to harmonize with the building and become a new symbol of the town.
The lobby lounge is designed to harmonize with the façade, creating a sense of continuity between the inside and outside, and employs sofas of various shapes and original acoustics to create a comfortable atmosphere. In addition, visual art that visualizes the outside environment, such as temperature and wind, is applied to the central pillar, allowing the comfortable river breeze to be felt even indoors.
Each floor is decorated with photographs of the Dojima River showing its various faces, while the restrooms feature original art that delicately depicts waves. The different color palettes on each floor will surprise visitors.

Issues/requests

The purpose of this renovation is to increase the building's appeal to potential new tenants through a sophisticated concept design, thereby promoting successful leasing to new tenants and increasing the asset value of the building.
In addition to functioning as a common area for the office building, the client also requested that the space increase the appeal of the riverside area and become a place that could be utilized by local residents, thereby contributing to the revitalization of the local area.

solution

As more and more diverse work styles emerge, we aimed to create a place where people can work while enjoying the comfort that is unique to a riverside location. Based on the concept of "riverside workation," we aimed to create a soothing effect through concept design that incorporates the surrounding environment and nature, allowing people to live rich lives.
Additionally, we are attempting to increase the asset value of the building by planning original acoustics and art throughout the building. This renovation will take advantage of the charm of the riverside location and help revitalize the surrounding area.
