TOYAMA TOWN TREKKING SITE

Toyama City, Toyama Prefecture and NOMURA Co.,Ltd. Ltd. have opened the TOYAMA TOWN TREKKING SITE, a new lifestyle hub with the theme of "from a closed gymnasium to a gymnasium that connects to the outdoors."
This project was selected as part of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications' 2016 "Public Facility Opening and Renovation Project," which aims to revitalize public facilities owned by local governments with the help of private sector creators and other initiatives, turning them into new business hubs. The aim is to "revitalize" the dead space of the Toyama City General Gymnasium by renovating it into a multi-generational hub where residents can engage in activities such as town trekking.
"TTS" is a complex that includes a cafe, sports shop, and studio. It provides facilities (hardware) to support town trekking, and regularly hosts events (software) on nutrition, physical education, and health education, and operates as a new public service to support the health of Toyama citizens.
Taking advantage of its location adjacent to Kansui Park, which is visited by 1.4 million people annually, the facility will be used not only by users of the Toyama City General Gymnasium but also as a base for exploring the wider area. This will allow residents to experience an "extension of healthy life expectancy" and "improvement in quality of life (QOL)," and the government aims to build a "virtuous cycle model for residents' healthy behavior and the local economy." This is a cutting-edge project in Japan.
"TTS" provides "time and space to nurture humanity, not just time or space, which is necessary for the health of people and communities," and slowly creates a "space" where you can share with others something that belongs only to you and no one else.
