Takenaka Carpentry Tools Museum
【project overview】
The Takenaka Tools Museum was opened as Japan's only museum of carpentry tools, with the theme of "Connecting people and nature, connecting tradition and innovation." Carpentry tools have a harsh fate of being used until they wear out and then disappear, especially the higher their quality. In order to convey to future generations the wonderfulness of these disappearing carpentry tools and the "spirit of craftsmanship," the museum has created a space where visitors can feel the skills, wisdom, and dedication of the craftsmen through the five senses, including life-size models, tools, videos, photographs, and workshops. We assisted with design, layout, interior administration, construction, and construction supervision.
【customer's voice】
We asked them to delve deeply into each theme and pursue the best possible concept design for each displays, not just focusing on superficial aspects. Even during construction, they carried out the work very carefully, checking prototypes and so on. By introducing hands-on displays that were not available in the old building, we were able to attract more family visitors, and we achieved the results we expected.
